Hi I am being hassled by a buyer over a £3 top I sold her. She wants a refund as it's too small. She's sent me a photo of the sleeves up her arm. The top is a 3/4 sleeve top and it says that in the description. Which I showed her and she said it doesn't fit anyway. She has asked Vinted to step in too. I have sent photos and of the description to Vinted. Now waiting for them to get back to me. I told the buyer to just resell it as it would cost her as much as the top to return. But she's insisting she doesn't want it as it doesn't fit and it would have to go in the bin otherwise. This is stressing me out!

It's a £3 top. Just ignore the messages and leave vinted to decide.

SilenceInside · 11/10/2025 01:00

Agree, just ignore the messages from now on and leave it to Vinted to resolve. She hasn’t got a leg to stand on, so it’s very unlikely she will get anywhere.

PortSalutSherryHello · 11/10/2025 01:03

It says in the Ts and Cs that not fitting isn't a reason for a refund unless the size was wrongly advertised so they should side with you..Vinted is becoming more hassle than it's worth

KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 01:12

Thank you all. I know it's only £3. But it's on principle. There is nothing wrong with the top. She even said in her message to Vinted that it's a lovely top but it doesn't fit.

Then she doesn't have a leg to stand on. Can't send something back because it doesn't fit, you aren't a shop. Plus it's against their terms and conditions. Vinted clearly isn't for her if she expects tailor standard.
Once they have closed the case in your favour block her.

I’ve sold quite a lot of stuff on there as am trying to declutter. Most buyers are fine, but the odd one is a chancer unfortunately. No advice, but lots of sympathy.

Thank you. I have sold quite a lot of stuff too and I agree most buyers are lovely. But it's just the hassle she is giving me. Which I've never had before.

Eh? How's she got the sleeve from that length to this length? Confused From what you can see of her midsection, the top does fit her well enough. If she didn't want it tight, tough luck - it's a gamble you take when buying second hand. It's not as if you've got a shelf full of the same £3 top in different sizes!

Anyway. Yes, leave it to Vinted. You don't seem to have done anything wrong.

KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 01:53

Eh? How's she got the sleeve from that length to this length? Exactly my thoughts!!!

If the sleeves are really that short on her (hint: they aren’t!) she must have freakishly long arms! There’s no way a 3/4 length sleeve is coming that far up her arms (her second photo), what nonsense.

NinePoppadomsAndASaagAloo · 11/10/2025 01:59

Also, in your original photo there are about 15 white stripes from cuff to shoulder. In her second pic there are only about 5 or 6, proving she’s pulled the sleeve right up and hidden the top two thirds of it inside the top somehow, as if the sleeve isn’t pulled all the way through.

KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 01:59

You can say that again! I don't know why she's making so much fuss about it.

Yes I didn't look at it like that. Thank you

It's just madness!

I don’t understand what she wants. If returning it will cost her about 3 quid, she’ll still be 3 quid down! Or is she expecting to be refunded and keep the top because really it fits fine. Strange woman.

KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 02:20

I said to her ...Why would you throw it away. You sell yourself. So sell it on your account. If there was something wrong with it, which there is not and was not when I sent it. That's a different matter.

OP posts:
KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 02:21

unless you want to refund me and keep the item im fine with that too but i'd rather return this honestly. first you asked it's useless since it'll cost more and i said im fine and now you're bringing vinted into this almost as if you're forcing me to keep it which i don't want to and it's a headache having to go back and forth with you when it's clear it doesn't fit me at all

OP posts:
KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 02:22

i don't want it?like i said i've got too many clothes and i want to keep the ones that i do wear and this is not one of them it doesn't fit me,

OP posts:
KatieA12B3C · 11/10/2025 02:26

Anyway let's hope Vinted sides with me! Thank you all.

OP posts:
VanillaImpulse · 11/10/2025 08:10

Surely she will have to pay postage to return it to you so is going to cost about the same to keep as it will return? Only she won’t have the top to potentially sell
