SoI have WhatsApp and you can see my 'last seen' etc
I have a few contacts that have hidden this so when I msg them I cannot see when they were last online nor do the ticks go blue when they have read my message. The only time I see 'online' with these contacts is if they reply to my message and start typing when I am messaging them.

Why do you think ppl have their 'last seen' hidden? I find it suspicious tbh

My friend had hers hidden as she runs a business and is very busy and people expect a response straight away if they can see she’s been online (maybe replying to another client).

My sister has hers hidden so her abusive, cheating husband can’t accuse her of talking to other men.

I sometimes have mine hidden as when I’m seriously struggling with my mental health as I sometimes can’t bring myself to reply.

So there are lots of reasons.

Mine is turned off because it’s nobody else’s business whether I’ve read their message or not. I also don’t want to be moaned at for not responding just because I happen to be online for a few minutes.

Secrecy or boundaries? I disable any tracking on my phone because I think where I am and what I am doing is my business alone. I am reliable and communicate clearly so there no issues with this in my personal life. If something is urgent, people can call me.

The underlying ideology for me is a preference to limit my contributions to data mining, because I am seldom, if ever, recompensed for this valuable commodity that is my life.

I’ve got every single Wattsapp group muted, hate it. If it’s urgent ring me, otherwise I’ll look when I want (especially YOU neighbours who I felt obligated to join as you whinged on about it)

Would somebody please remind me how to check that my "last seen" is off and whatever it is about blue ticks. I don't want anyone to know when I've been on Whatsapp - or any other app.

I think I have set it like this...but that was a long time ago and my last phone. Thank you if you can remind me.
