Things you didn't expect to like, but do

I really, really did not expect to like the Stacey & Joe TV show.
But I do 🤷‍♀️
Their whole set up is just lovely - extended and step family are just one big family
It's just an easy watch, very wholesome.

Motherhood.

I was prepared for the sleep deprivation, the endless slog of feeds, nappy changes, extra laundry etc. I knew I would love the baby and that on an abstract level it would be interesting to watch them experience the world and grow into a person. But I didn't expect to actually like the daily grind. It's completely floored me.

The White Lotus. Very much not usually my type of thing, but stuck for an evening’s entertainment me and DH watched. Loved it. Definitely because of Jennifer Coolidge, but even so.

Winter coffee shop jazz music 🙈 I have it on for most of December, especially while reading/cooking/baking... So damn relaxing and merry... And I feel like I'm in a Hallmark Christmas movie. There. I said it.

Going grey. I couldn't be arsed to dye my hair over Covid when I wasn't seeing anyone, ended up growing the dye out and fully embracing being grey. I've had so many compliments and have inspired a few friends to do the same.

All inclusive holiday

Same! I’ve just been on my first and it was amazing! I wasn’t expecting much from the buffet but it was some of the nicest food I’ve ever had.

Vegan salad cream (I now love the stuff)

Game of Thrones, for ages it was the thing my DH watched if I was having an early night. I thought it looks like something I’d hate, not at all my cup of tea. Then one week when my DH was working away I binged the first series in a couple of evenings and was hooked.

I’m with you on Game of Thrones. I avoided it for years and years, everyone was talking about it at work and in my head I was like yeah that’s not my thing at all with all the dragons.

Then during lockdown I was bored and gave it a go. No word of a lie I binged all seasons within a month. I absolutely loved it. Best thing I’ve seen.

As soon as I hear the music and see the map I get excited.

Teddy fleece duvet cover

I thought it wound be horrendously sweaty and plastic. But after experiencing it on a bed at a friends house, I love it more than words can say! I have been thinking all summer about the cooler nights and being able to get the teddy fleece on. It’s like a big, warm, light and airy hug.

Marvel movies. I was expecting to tolerate them for the sake of my superhero mad DS, but I absolutely love them. Even the less good ones are better than most of the tripe on at the cinemas these days. During lockdown we watched them all in their chronological order in ‘real life’ and everything made so much more sense.

PrestonHood121 · 24/09/2025 03:46

Love Island. I know, I know…

Beekman · 24/09/2025 03:56

Disneyworld. Went en route to The Keys as it was a convenient spot to stay for a few nights. Expected to hate but loved it from the minute we walked in. We’ve been for full-on holidays there three times now.

Also Richmond sausages, waffle cones and Walmart
