No-one is mentioning Trump's stroke

CharlotteCChapel · 12/09/2025 09:12

It's like tumbleweed out there. During the live televised 9/11 remembrance service Trump's face drooped on one side.

No-one in the mainstream media seems to be mentioning it.

Ive only seen it mentioned on IHIP and the Meidas Touch.

I commend you for being honest actually.

But it wouldn’t happen like that. In a vacuum. Where they’re assassinated and the opinions just… go away.

it’s a very slippery slope, because today someone you dislike has been assassinated, then tomorrow it will be someone you do like.

It will reverberate, there will be retribution.

Or there will be a dictatorship, with no dissenting opinions.

It’s dangerous, and has no place in civil society

I'm aware of that. I was talking in hypotheticals really, because it's not a conversation I've ever had with myself until this thread!

I don't personally wish ill on these people. On the other hand, I understand those who aren't shedding any tears about Kirk's death or Trump's potential stroke. Those who are genuinely celebrating or revelling in such things (and I don't see anything quite that strong on this thread) are pretty extreme in my view. I just can't bring myself to feel genuine sadness if someone I consider a genuinely bad actor is... no longer around. For whatever reason. I can deplore the reason for it - public assassination in Charlie Kirk's case or a very public unpleasant health event in Trump's - but it would be hypocritical of me to say that I think we wouldn't be better off without those people who push views I believe to be dangerous. If it were up to me I would choose both of the subjects under discussion to go quietly and peacefully in their sleep. Or maybe just disappear somehow (as in not death or kidnap, something more ephemeral). But I would ultimately still prefer them to go.

I don't know if that makes me one of the awful, gloating people or not. It's certainly not black or white though.

The pp was still correct to say there is that rhetoric online.

I never said otherwise.

Just that for many people it means looking for it rather than seeing it on their timeline.

I've just watched a few minutes of the footage.

It looks to me like an older man having difficulty in concentrating and staying awake, so keeps fidgeting in his chair and trying to look sad and sincere during the bit where names are being read out.

I don't think he's had a stroke.

He does have a sulky look a lot. I've seen it loads if times before.

CK popped up on my timeline a few times, no idea why but that's how I first became aware of his 'message'.

I know. It’s pointless. Idk why it’s just blanked but you’re right.

She is but it's hard to see.
I was dismayed that the president elect of the Oxford union's defence for writing "lol" when it was announced that Charlie Kirk was dead was that his reaction was "shaped by the context of Mr Kirk's own rhetoric – words that often dismissed or mocked the suffering of others".

So he can see that CK had questionable views and was possibly not a particularly decent person but still chose to lower himself to the same standard.

That's not true. Not all Christians believe all abortion is wrong. It's more polarised in America though.

My dad is a baptist minister and he is ok with early abortion on demand, and for a longer period for health/disability/necessity.

I'm a Christian and I have similar views to him, probably slightly more restrictive tbh as I believe first trimester abortion is wrong but that is also proportional for it to be a legal option. Just like adultery is wrong but not illegal, I'm worried the direction the US is going with banning abortion even where it risks the woman's life.

I have friends who are Christian who very firmly label themselves as pro choice. I don't know any Christians in the UK who would be against abortion where continuing the pregnancy would put mums life at risk. Most are ok with it for disabilities which are incompatible with life.

On the other side, many of us are also the pro assisted suicide charges.

Please don't pigeon hole is with the extremist American nutjobs. Kirk was one of those. He didn't deserve to die because of it, but I'm not going to use any tears on him given his view was that some gun deaths are justified so he can carry about gun. They're are many more deaths or they're which deserve my tears more.

But it is a perfectly reasonable interpretation of the Bible that abortion is the taking of a life. Being anti abortion within Christianity is not a “way out there” interpretation.

Being pro Euthanasia is even harder to square with the Bible.

GoldThumb · 12/09/2025 15:26

Just read that the family of suspect turned him in.

Their lives have been forever changed.

The bible is just a book, written by men, in a time when we understood much less about the world around us. It's not an instruction manual for life, unless you want it to be, and even then you can only apply it to your own life.

I've not used X since it was Twitter. I did delete TikTok, due to all the utter rubbish on there!

I'm not celebrating any deaths, but I don't/won't miss the public presence of a couple of unpleasant white men. Of course I appreciate their families will mourn them. Remember when Maggie Thatcher died? We felt for her family, but many were glad to see her go (and she was nowhere as bad as Trump, in terms of humanity).

What has their colour got to do with anything? Disgustingly racist.

Nice try. Please read the existing replies to this non-issue. Also, white isn't a 'race'. HTH

anytipswelcome · 12/09/2025 15:19

Are you a Trump fan @RingoJuice?

Charlie Kirk was one of the biggest ones going and you consider him to have been a good man.

It’s just you’re quite rightly disgusted by rapists and presumably people who sexually assault others.

So I’m interested in your thoughts on Charlie Kirk choosing to dedicate so much of his life to supporting Trump, who has been accused of dozens of sexual assaults for decades, by independent women in various places?

Would a good man support someone who is, on balance of probability unless you think they are all liars, likely to have at least sexually assaulted some women?

I voted for Trump twice.

RingoJuice · 12/09/2025 15:38

I didn't know where you lived, but had you revealed it was the US, then voting for trump would have been a given based on your comments. 🫣

I have just googled this and the one photo I could see doesn’t look like anything more than a fleeting facial expression on an old orange bloke.
Shame though.

Urgh. Bet you’ve got pastel coloured hair.

Yes it doesn't square at all with the bible!! Abortion is completely against any Christian belief too. Trying to square a circle.

He’s a sociopath. You can literally see the cogs go round “Must try to look sad, must try to look like I care about others”.

Lifelover16 · 12/09/2025 15:55

Slightyamusedandsilly · 12/09/2025 10:06

It's exactly this isn't it? They'd rather have a half dead old white bloke than any sort of woman or brown skinned person.

Errr - Barack Obama?

80smonster · 12/09/2025 15:57

Kuretake · 12/09/2025 09:13

Yeah it's weird, his face is completely drooping one side.

I just thought that was his actual face? Isn’t it droopy both sides? Some would say jowly.

Do the sexual assault allegations not bother you, if you’re disgusted by rape and sexual assault as per your earlier posts?

It’s a genuine question, not a gotcha attempt by the way.

Oh I’m not a Christian so don’t apply it to my life, although there are some universal truths in it. But saying if you are a Christian and therefore live in accordance with the Bible it is perfectly reasonable to say that as a Christian abortion is a sin. I’m pro choice - I find it difficult to understand how a Christian can be

One brown man out of 45 presidents. And no women.

You're kind of shitting on your own point there, @Lifelover16 .
