I don't believe it's that simple. I don't sit here randomly wishing Trump (or pretty much anyone, to be honest) would have a stroke, be assassinated or suffer in any way.
However I do believe the world has become and remains a more dangerous place since Trump first came to power, in no small part thanks to his character and actions. The school shootings, the social divides, the overt racism, the out of control gun culture in his country etc. I believe these are all things to be scared of and things he has personally promoted.
Setting aside the potential horror of Vance replacing him therefore, if it's a case of Trump, being healthy, stays where he is and keeps doing awful things, or Trump having a stroke meaning he can no longer be a bad president of the most powerful country in the world, I'll happily opt for the stroke option.
I supose similarly if it were a choice between Charlie Kirk's influence pushing some of his (to me) abhorrent policies into law or him being assassinated, I think I might choose assassination. I'm not pleased he's been killed, I'm not celebrating it in any way and would never have hoped or wished for it but from the point of view of a mother of two young girls who is very worried about the world they are growing up in, I could potentially see that as being for the greater good.
Maybe that does make me an awful person. Or it just makes me someone very worried about the influence and power of what I see as bad men and bad policies.
