Washed dressed, emptied dryer. Put some rice soup on for my poor tummy. Put kettle on to fill my hot water bottle, went all wobbly so back to sofa. Yesterday had a shower and then felt quite energised......caught up on a few minor things....I am so cross with myself.

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 10:38

@TeaAndStrumpets
I know that feeling of being cross with yourself. Try not to be though as it doesn't help. You are doing your best with everything. I still need to get washed and dressed so you are ahead of me.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 10:39

@MewithME yes Harrison mattresses look good.

I have been reading reviews and my worry is everybody says you should turn a new mattress really often and I wonder how we would manage that? I can't blow the skin off a rice pudding and DH has a dodgy hip which destabilises him. I suppose I could call in family help. I wonder if having two mattresses on a king or bigger would be better? Less weight per mattress. But do I put on separate sheets etc?

Thank you. So true!

MewithME · 18/10/2025 10:42

I rarely turn mine. It is heavy and I can do it. It's a rotate one though so you do not have to flip it over. I can do it by myself if I do it in stages.

There's definitely a slight difference with the side I sleep on compared to the less used side now but it's not a dip or anything. Sometimes I shuffle into the centre for an extra ooooohhhh factor 😆

Really feeling low and crap today. Just exhausted and my shoulder is playing up. I'm getting a steroid injection in a few weeks to calm down inflammation in the synovial fluid, but i currently have referred pain in my ear.
My body just seems to be going through it atm. I need to get out of bed and go get my meds from the chemists but i cba right now.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 10:46

@MewithME oh that is reassuring that yours is still going strong. I think we could manage to rotate it.

MewithME · 18/10/2025 10:51

@TeaAndStrumpets Just check obviously. I didn't know until I got it that you're not meant to flip it. Which was a worry back then as DS managed to pee on it 🫣

Good job I am single and nobody can see the stain... I did try and get it out and spent a week on the spare sofa bed while it dried out properly, after scrubbing it with napisan. Good job we love our kids isn't it? 🫣

Right. .. I have languished in bed long enough. I am going for my Epsom salt bath with my audiobook.

DS is happy because I bought him a new game this morning!

Laundry and sheet change is the ambition today. I think I'm doing better ATM.... It feels doable. I will go steady.

Oh and our Halloween decorations are in progress. .we've gone early.

Check in later. Love to all.

Oh, we do! Most parents end up with a few mystery stains around the house!

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 11:02

That's rubbish for you @BrownFlower2 hope your day improves.

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 11:04

Kudos to those who have actually got dressed. I've got as far as putting some socks on!

FurForksSake · 18/10/2025 11:05

Morning all, much sympathy all round. Quiet days and rest prescribed for all that need it.

i stripped my bed and put the sheets in the machine, I can’t get them in the dryer or back on, but dh will do that for me. I’ve also sent him to do the pick up and drop offs for music centre as I’m just in too much pain.

I’ve emptied the fridge ready for the food shop. We had six peppers and they are ok but need eating. I remembered we have one of those food chopped things (where you put the slice of pepper on a grid and slam the lid down and it dices into a box below). Haven’t used it in years and and years. I managed to dice six peppers in five minutes including the initial chopping. It was much more doable than using a knife as I just can’t stand that long. The peppers can go in the freezer. I’ve also got too many carrots so I might see if I can dice those and freeze them. And some sweet potatoes I bought for soup.. or I can at least ask someone else to and it’s not so big a job.

Swanhilde · 18/10/2025 11:19

Oh to be gadding around, @TeaAndStrumpets 🤣

Have woken from another sleep and still feel groggy but at least the room has stopped spinning and my head's less congested. And DH has brought me a cuppa.

There will be no getting dressed here today, my body has spoken - bed it is. Until Strictly that is 💃

Wishing everyone a quiet and restful day ❤️

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 11:30

@FurForksSake DH is the veg chopper in our house but he takes so long doing in to millimetre precision I can't bear to watch. He really steps up in so many ways though. And he warms the plates!
I'm with you on hating food waste. I have a plan for everything.
Years ago when my sister got her own flat I remember my Mum visiting and rescuing a chicken carcass DSis was about to put in the bin. Sis had taken off two breast slices and wasn't going to eat rhe rest so poor Mum was beside herself!

MewithME · 18/10/2025 12:05

@TeaAndStrumpets that made me proper lol! He'd have a fit at my chopping technique Grin

God I know, I think my feminine mystique is long gone now he realises how slapdash I am.

MewithME · 18/10/2025 12:20

Haha ..that's where I've gone wrong....don't think I ever had much feminine mystique 😂

Feminine mistique? I might be able to rustle up a feminine moustache!

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 12:43

About to tackle some of the clean laundry pile. It has been hanging around for so long it might almost be sentient!

Hope you get your meds Ok and can then have a rest. I'm thinking I might need to increase one of mine next week, perhaps. Pain meds also, I have gabapentin and co-codomol. (but they want to reduce the latter)

MewithME · 18/10/2025 13:07

@EducatingArti 😂 Snap! Best move I ever made was putting washer and drier in the garage. I chuck the laundry pile in there and ignore it for as long as I can get away with!

My whites are on. Fish fingers cooking. All nicely mundane ...pottering.

@BrownFlower2 sorry you're feeling low.

I was thinking this morning, ...I know I'm doing a bit better because I feel happy. The chores are still there. I'm still not doing anything wildly exciting but things feel just that bit easier. I hope your low will pass, and you'll have some better days soon.

OP posts:
EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 14:00

I have folded precisely 10 items from my laundry pile ( and actually put away 2 of them 🙄) . I'm currently having some lunch. At around 2:15 ISH, I'm going to get my wetsuit on and head for the lake. Open water swimming exhausts me ( I can only do near stationary breaststroke) but I've been feeling a bit depressed after all the stuff that has been happening so I'm prioritising getting outside and doing stuff that helps with depression. I'll probably be really tired afterwards so will have shower and tea and probably not much else!

InMySpareTime · 18/10/2025 14:35

I usually overdo it this time of year cutting back all the dead stuff in the garden, this year I asked DH to do it while I sat in a chair directing proceedings. I can’t let him do it unsupervised yet as he’s not very good at identifying plants from weeds (I learned about that knowledge gap the hard way!).
I’m still a bit tired, but normal tired not shaky and exhausted.

@Hotbeveragepleasethe Merlin app sounds great, I will look into that. Right up my street.

@StressybettyI don't know how your doing it all. Working and two litter of puppies. You deserve a medal. The puppies are so cute!

@littlebilliieI hope your ok after the chemo

Day started off well for me. Little browse of the charity shop. Came home hoping to do a little bit of housework and rest for the day but been managing my daughters worsening mental health. I'm not 100% sure but I think she may have OCD which is crippling her (and me). I'm cracking under the strain.

Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

I really felt this! My son is diagnosed with PTSD from medical trauma and I spend a lot of time managing his mental health as a support person/carer, also has ASD and it really affects us as parents too.
