Can I join in? I have fibromyalgia and find it very wearing living with constant pain.

I haven't read the whole thread yet, but will do so in a min. Nice to meet you all.

Today I'm taking my mum to the ballet. She doesn't get out much, so she's looking forward to it. I'd rather sit in front of the tv with a cuppa! Just weighing up which shoes will cause me the least pain as I usually live in trainers if I'm out. I got ready an hour too early because my brain couldn't process the time!

I couldn't sleep last night and didn't get up this morning until midday! I just kept falling back to sleep. Consequently I couldn't get going today and have done nothing.

Oh your Mum is so lucky to have you! Hope you enjoy your trip out.

I don't blame you for living in trainers, once you find some comfy footwear it's hard to let it go. I was mortified last winter when my favourite Ecco boots disintegrated when I was in a shop, leaving a trail of black lumps as I walked along. I realised later that they were getting on for 20 years old! I loved those boots...

@wherewillwegoto I just decided life is too short for uncomfortable shoes and I wear trainers all the time now!

Ballet sounds wonderful. I would love to see one, one day but I do know what you mean. It would take some recovery time for me.

I've put on my Clarks lace up shoes with an insole. I don't be walking much so hopefully ok. Mind you, sitting for a long time is painful as well.

I used to live in Ecco shoes when I lived in Germany. They're so expensive here.

We're seeing the Nutcracker, it'll be lovely. She seen it hundreds of times, but always enjoy it.

Stressybetty · 17/10/2025 19:21

Definitely no to uncomfortable shoes too! I love a nice black suede old style Etnies trainer boot. My feet however prefer Crocs with having plantar fasciitis but I wouldn't wear them out out. I have canvas sketchers bobs be cute which I wear in summer. No room for new mugs here unless one gets 'accidentally' broken! Can't bear a handbag either, feels very vulnerable and awkward, pockets all the way for me. Day off today, finally managed to dye hair last night, done vet trip with pups, saw one off to new home and have just left DH in sales mode to a new visit and escaped upstairs to keep our own dogs from eating the door. Managed 5000 steps today which is rare for me. Sainsbury's delivery late tonight. Another pup leaving and another visit tomorrow. Legs hurting and seem to be covered in bruises and aches and pains. Love to all

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/10/2025 19:37

@Stressybetty I hate to think how few steps I do in a day! You are doing really well.

FurForksSake · 17/10/2025 19:51

@TeaAndStrumpets I am most usually under 1500 steps a day. I’ve done 2200 today and I know it.

DH has a scout leader colleague round. I want to put on my pjs and hook up my tens and take my cbd capsules. I’m assuming she’ll be gone by 9.

I like to think it's quality not quantity!

FurForksSake · 17/10/2025 20:06

lol! Well my two physios tell me I walk really badly so I don’t win in that stakes either 🤭

I’ve just realised I haven’t done my physio, ah well.

Sorry we struggle so much, it’s tough being knackered and in pain.

I’ve just ordered an inflatable foot stool and an inflatable bed wedge to take on holiday. I sit on the sofa for the majority of the day and have to have my legs supported. These hopefully will help without my foot stool and pillow set up.

I’ve also done a Sainsbury order to come the evening we arrive, anything to make life a little easier!

Thank you. It was wonderful and we both enjoyed it. I'm suffering for it now though. I have nothing planned tomorrow except going to get some cash out for my mum so can mainly rest.

littlebilliie · 18/10/2025 05:28

Round two infusion completed this week and 13 days of tablets ahead. Awake at 4am with the steroids 🙄 I’m off to the hairdressers to have my hair cut shorter as it’s falling out - wigs here I come!

I went to a wig fitting with a friend once and I was astonished at the choice and how good they are. Are you going to match your usual hair, or try a change? I suppose woolly hat weather is upon us too. My friend's hair was lovely when it grew back! A real nuisance for you in the meantime, though. X

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 07:55

Hi everyone they're arguing about "spoons theory" on AIBU but I haven't the mental energy to join in lol. Have a good day all.

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 08:41

Good morning everyone. @TeaAndStrumpets , I've just been over to read! I don't have the energy either!

I'm struggling overall right now. In the last 6 to 7 months I've had so much going on including ( but not limited to!) the end of a long term psychotherapy relationship, one close friend moving away, another close friend with a life limiting illness becoming more unwell, the death of a parent, huge amounts of of complicated and very stressful probate paperwork, and a leaking soil pipe ( because of a very poor repair done years ago by the management company to my leasehold flat) which has now been repaired but was leaking slowly for years and has left me with concrete floors in kitchen and bathroom totally sodden with raw sewage underneath the vinyl!

I'm still in bed! Hope to get on with a few basic things like folding laundry and doing the dishwasher. I've not got too much incentive right now to do much cleaning!!

Hopefully saving some "spoons" (lol); to go swimming later on as it will be good for my mental health.

TeaAndStrumpets · 18/10/2025 09:05

Oh @EducatingArti I was going to say that's so shit for you but it really really is! Massive sympathy. It sounds like you've had a dreadful time recently.

I have had cfs/me for decades and like the rest of us just manage from day to day but every so often something so huge happens it has to be dealt with over and above all else, and that extra demand (energy wise) is like taking an emergency loan at an outrageous interest rate. It takes SO long to get back to base line.
I did probate for my brother this year and it was easy but time consuming. My other siblings had the job of clearing his house and believe me you'd have barely noticed a sewage leak in that chaos! So I was the lucky one there.

I hope you soon start to see progress. Have you chosen some nice replacement floor coverings?

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 09:12

Thank you for your encouragement @TeaAndStrumpets
I'm nowhere near at the stage of choosing new vinyl. Just waiting for the assessor's report to reach the insurance company. Then it will be a case of negotiating a time for them to get contractors to strip out vinyl and anything else that is damaged/ mouldy and use decontamination chemicals and get dehumidifiers in to dry out the floor which may take 3 weeks ( or more) during which time I can't be in my home as I won't have a working bathroom or kitchen.

Swanhilde · 18/10/2025 09:21

I have woken this morning with vertigo. Head and sinuses are full so I'm assuming that's the cause. Have used my steroid nose spray (double dose) and taken my antihistamines. Hopefully that should help. Will take paracetamol if my head starts to throb.

Am staying firmly in bed. Spoons = 0

Bloody PEM 😡

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 09:23

Sorry for such a rubbish start to the day @Swanhilde

Inflatables sound like a great solution @FurForksSake so you can have home comforts away from home. I rely so much on being able to get comfy.

I need to buy a new bed and mattress soon and I am terrified about making the wrong choice. The energy used to walk round a bed shop for a start. I am sure I will say yes to the first mattress just to get it over with so I can go home! Haven't bought one for years and years. Our old cheap mattress was transformed by a lovely topper but our current bed just won't fit in our new house because it's too high. It's a Victorian brass and iron, bought for £25 when we were setting up our first home! It's incredibly sturdy.

All that gadding about @Swanhilde ! Really sympathise re the vertigo. I get that when I have a stiff neck. Very disconcerting. . Are your ears popping? So much can go amiss with sinus/ears things. DH and I both went deaf (temporarily) last time we had covid and it seemed to affect the sinuses. We just bellowed at each other for a few days!
Hope you manage a mustard spoon soon.

MewithME · 18/10/2025 10:12

@EducatingArti Any sort of work done in the house is so difficult,I find. I am always exhausted after. It's even just the not being able to relax or making tea for workmen and conversation and being up on my feet more looking at what they're doing etc. Have you got a plan on somewhere to go?

@TeaAndStrumpets the rule is ...spend as much as you can afford on a mattress. Mine is 9 years old and still the most comfortable bed! Harrison mattress. They're v good.

EducatingArti · 18/10/2025 10:18

@MewithME No plan at present for where to go as I'm waiting for the insurance company to see what they will fund. I find the thought of having to move out temporarily very stressful. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't on top of all the other things that have been happening. My flat is a tip as it is!

I keep telling myself it is a good opportunity to have a clear out ( if I'm moving stuff out of the kitchen/bathroom/hallway, I might as well think about what I want to keep and actually put back in!)

This thread is being really helpful to me this morning as it is helping me go a bit slower and not be expect too much of myself.
