Hate how racist everything has become, and how quickly it’s happened.

I was just looking at facebook, and a ‘Sad face’ newsmaker article came up. Practically all the comments mentioned boats, asylum seekers etc etc. Its really getting me down.

Travelled to the south west last weekend. On the way down no flags on bridges. On the way back, in some areas, every bridge.

Its scary how quickly it’s all happening.

In a perfect nutshell this is exactly it ^ and people - tens of millions of people have had enough.

I am deeply proud of my country, I love living in England, it is a beautiful country, and I care about our future. It is a damn shame that others are so lost and misguided that they can not find it within themselves to celebrate what is good about England, and Englishness and the need to look after what we have, and to value our own culture, history and freedoms.

The negativity, the name calling and the general malaise from some of the pp is so damaging - and it’s especially damaging to them. I wonder if it’s a collective movement of self harm and self sabotage, or a mental health issue. It is not healthy to want to live in constant shame and negativity, and worse still to inflict it on others.

Edited

Its mainly middle class white women, not just here but across the West.

It’s summer, people are bored and there’s nothing in the news. All UK unrest happens in August which is why there defo is money behind a campaign somewhere and many Brits are falling for it.

Why are they falling for it? Because there are genuine problems and it’s not racist to say it, we have people dying in corridors in A&E, underfunded schools, an explosion of unmet SEN, rising prices and an acute housing shortage. Without expanding vital public services we have no more space. People are making a choice of how they want public services and money to be run.

Its not the way to do it and I don’t know what the answer is but its not just “racist”.

But who do we think pays for the health care etc? Working people paying taxes obviously and the demographic black hole has been known about for years. We need some immigration and meanwhile they are busy reducing visas, student visas and others in an attempt to make the numbers look better. Brexit has made the situation worse. We are fucked if we can’t have younger people living and working here and keeping the economy going.

I live in an extremely diverse urban area before anyone thinks everyone who thinks immigration is needed doesn’t know what it actually looks like on a day to day basis.

I don't understand why these economic migrants are not instantly turned around and deported?
That should have been the policy from the get go.

Economic migrants? Are we talking about people who come from Australia etc to work? I thought people loved them because they’re white.

Iocainepowder · 25/08/2025 07:16

There are no flags or protests so far in my area, but we do have an issue as we have a hotel up the road. We are lucky to be a generally low crime area, but for the first time since i’ve lived here, we had to have police presence on my street as men from the hotel were harrassing primary school girls and their mums at school pick up time, including stalking/following. Our MP tried to hush it up. So rather than racism, it is a genuine fear of our safety (as females) that we have a hotel of men near us from incredibly different cultures which hold a complete disregard for women and girls.

TheGirlWhoWantedToBeGod · 25/08/2025 07:16

I think the flag issue in particular has really shown a disconnect between the highly educated, left leaning people (who produce most of our media, run the govt etc) and the bulk of everyday people around the rest of the country.

It’s an odd situation where lefties will proudly wave a Palestinian flag on marches, but then sneer at anyone wanting to display a St George’s flag. Is it really surprising people are feeling the govt doesn’t understand them or care about their concerns?

Simonjt · 25/08/2025 07:16

Dorisbonson · 25/08/2025 07:11

A 3.7% occupancy rate on a hotel? It would be bankrupt with an occupancy rate less than 40-50%! Sounds fake to me.

Why do you assume people are unhappy with foreign doctors and nurses? Are you deliberately obtuse? Do you not think it is possible to have an immigration system that allows medical professionals in as a priority whilst keeping overall numbers low?

It isn’t fake, it was on newsbeat, i’ll see if I can find it. The poster I quoted only wants the NHS to be available for people born in the UK, so you would assume they also wouldn’t suppory those born outside of the UK working in it, otherwise the poster is a hypocrit.

You are incredibly racist, and what's worse is that I don't actually think you know why. You're just parroting whatever nonsense you've seen on social media without applying an ounce of critical thinking.

many of us don’t care about the facts or the knowledge you say about

You don't care about facts and knowledge. So you're happy to believe anything, even if it isn't true? Why would anyone form an opinion on anything without knowing the facts?

these people are illegally entering our country

It's not illegal to claim asylum. The government refuses to define the legal route they're supposed to take.

We would be 32,000 people lighter

Wouldn't make a blind bit of difference. These people are stuck in limbo because this and previous governments have made an absolute shambles of processing them.

The number of illegal migrants in the UK is irrelevant compared to the number of legal ones.

our hotels would be able to used

I stay in hotels all over the UK multiple times a month - never had an issue getting a room anywhere. They're in shit hole Britannia hotels and the like that were so underutilized that the owners jumped at these government contracts.

our women and children would be safer.

The vast, vast majority of sex crimes and violent crimes committed against women and children in this country are committed by people they know, not asylum seekers.

We wouldn’t have the housing crisis

You must be joking.

and these Individuals taking houses and places to live off good British people.

If someone is found to have a legal right to live here, they've as much right to a house as you. You're not special because you happened to be born on a certain bit of rock due to a genetic lottery.

Good British people understand that, ignorant racists don't.

So what's your answer when people who've lived in this country all their lives have to wait forever to get a council house, yet people who have just arrived here can jump the queue with EVERYTHING, especially with regards to being housed.

Glowstickparty · 25/08/2025 07:19

I think for some people it is racist behaviour because they are. For others they don’t like change as areas they live in have changed into multicultural areas. My partner is black I am white and I was shocked when we met at behaviour towards him. He expects it.
However the uk is an island surrounded by water and the government seem to have no way of controlling the amount of people coming into the country. I worked for the nhs and in the early 2000’s many Europeans came here to have babies. As it was free and they would then be housed here. I don’t think it’s a new problem. The problem is there isn’t enough housing for the people already here. The nhs is struggling as are schools.

I do not see it personally, but let’s assume you are right in your observation, what do you believe the catalyst is?

A right wing group has orchestrated these flags flying.

OP posts:
Freysimo · 25/08/2025 07:20

Which right wing group?

PeonyPatch · 25/08/2025 07:21

Isn’t it sad that we can’t show patriotism for our country without being deemed racist?

NeelyOHara · 25/08/2025 07:21

okydokethen · 24/08/2025 23:19

It’s scary. We’re a hateful, drunk, entitled nation.

WTF? How ridiculous, maybe where you live. I like this country, I understand that it currently gets you more virtual brownie points to say you hate it though.

Yes I agree that would be sad but these people aren’t patriots. They’re racist half wits.

That’s really rude, and I might have to report your post for being personally attacking.

However, I have examples of non British nationals getting council houses above British. It’s usually in the case where there are children….

Silverbirchleaf · 25/08/2025 07:24

Freysimo · 25/08/2025 07:20

Which right wing group?

‘Raise the Flag’ which has support from far right groups.

Where mum lives people have spray painted red crosses on information signs at parks, on peoples houses and in some cases cars. How is that patriotic?

It was always there, just waiting for an opportunity to show its face 😢

I agree. I think there used to be an element of shame about it, like people thought it but wouldn’t dare say it out loud. Now they’ve been emboldened by what they see on social media and they all join in.

Do you have the data for the number of asylum seekers who are given a property when they arrive in the UK?

That’s not the same as having a flag up though is it — that sounds like something else…

rolorav · 25/08/2025 07:26

yes i believe it’s been hijacked by reform and being turned into a intimidation campaign. Because a lot of racial attacks are happening and also people of colour being targeted who are normal British citizens not asylum seekers. All the racists coming out the woodwork. It’s disgusting and things will start backfiring very soon. Also these people in my opinion wouldn’t go to war for their own country but they will get drunk and protest lol

‘Support for the little girl’ < snort>

These patriots are obsessed with ‘looking after’ women and children. Half of them are probably wife beaters. I don’t need some twat looking after me.

It’s just an excuse to be racist and horrible. This country is awful at the moment. Personally I’d swap all the idiot men for some refugees.

hmmmm - I’ve lived in 2 Muslim countries and I wouldn’t want to live in them long term

PeonyPatch · 25/08/2025 07:25

The guy doing it on her street has three flags up, an upside down union flag, a st georges flag and a st georges flag that has got the crest of his football team added (saints). He caused the criminal damage on the fence and cars, the park is on the same street, but she doesn’t know if he also did the signs there.

rolorav · 25/08/2025 07:28

Nothing wrong with being patriotic however let’s be real, it’s turning into a white vs colour campaign
