Hate how racist everything has become, and how quickly it’s happened.

I was just looking at facebook, and a ‘Sad face’ newsmaker article came up. Practically all the comments mentioned boats, asylum seekers etc etc. Its really getting me down.

Travelled to the south west last weekend. On the way down no flags on bridges. On the way back, in some areas, every bridge.

Its scary how quickly it’s all happening.

When has any population ever been asked to "consent" to demographic change? It has occurred throughout history and it will continue to happen. Particularly as climate change starts to bite and parts of the planet become uninhabitable.

I don't disagree that successive governments have failed to manage this issue effectively, but that's a separate matter.

There is no point in talking about a great country that is known for its kindness and tolerance if we've decided that those values no longer suit us. Surely what you're arguing for is a country which prioritises self interest and indifference to the suffering of others. And that's where our thinking diverges, as those are not the values that I was brought up with.

In your child’s lifetime, the white British will become a minority in their own country. Probably a hated minority, too.

Is this what kindness and tolerance gets you? No wonder people will reject that.

How strange. Everyone I know who voted for Brexit did so on grounds of sovereignty - though the undercutting of wages by free movement of labour was an issue particularly for small business owners who found their prices for jobs undercut, and for people at the bottom of the employment pile who saw their wages cut, but that isn't racism that's economics.
You must know a lot of racists. I don't.

Edited

Of course they did.

Browniesforbreakfast · 25/08/2025 12:34

Where do those who think we should be open to all those struggling in other countries draw the line? If another 20 million come here? 100 million? Ever? We already do not grow enough to feed ourselves, and Labour seems intent on sabotaging the rest of our food production.

So… how do we have genuine and open discussions about uncontrolled immigration without being branded racist or a xenophobe?

There were 875,000 visas issued last year for work, study and family.

Either the Tories or Labour could have tightened up the entry requirements but they don’t.

So it’s pretty clear that the UK government wants this immigration.

I don’t think it’s racist to debate this.

What is racist is the generalisations made about entire groups of people like Muslims.

And be angry with Labour for ruining what was left of a thriving economy? You seem to have missed that one.

A thriving economy? I’m assuming that’s sarcasm? The economy was fucked before Labour. I’m not saying it’s not continuing on a downhill trajectory because it is but it had already tanked. I imagine trying to turn it round is near impossible.

I once found a news article that showed on a graph the demographic change over the years and predicted change in the future based on current trends. It showed how white British people would be in the minority.

Please link the article.

But why should I even care if white British people become a minority in their own country? Why would the colour of people's skin matter?

I'm white British but my dd is mixed race. She is every bit as British as I am, and she presents no threat to "British values". She isn't a risk to anyone.

Unless you are motivated by simple racism, why would you think that an increase in the number of people like my dd is a bad thing? What harm do you think she will do to you by virtue of the fact that she has darker hair, darker eyes and slightly darker skin than your average Anglo-Saxon. Could you explain exactly why you think people should feel threatened by her existence and the existence of people like her?

Only pensioners yearly increase was more than the winter fuel allowance and year on year deaths of pensioners was down.
I feel desperately sorry for homeless people on the streets, much more should be done rather than relying on charities BUT some of those people won't accept help as they are too far gone in their addiction (see the man in Birmingham with the injured leg who refused to go to hospital). You can't compare one with the other. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion.

Agree! Street homelessness has nothing to do with
seekers & everything to do with addiction & complex mental health issues. Blame Tory austerity for the lack
of rehab/addiction services & mental health services. Giving an addict living on the streets a council flat usually won’t help much unless other services are also in place to help them.

I have found the same people criticising money being spent on asylum seekers also complaining about ‘junkies’ getting more than their share of resources too! But all of a sudden they’re so concerned about homeless people they previously despised.

Abandoning your crazy energy policy would be a good fucking start. Should be fracking and putting up nuclear power plants. How’s that going?

You do have to accept that the population have not given consent for millions of new arrivals. It feels forced and terrifying for many because no one seems to have any control over it - nor does it seem anyone has even planned how the infrastructure will cope. It is now impacting so many people up and down the country. This is a failure of both policy and leadership of the current government. No one has the first idea what Labour’s policy even is on immigration, they don’t appear to have one. Tony Blair conceded a few months ago that they had completely underestimated the numbers and the consequences, but the current government is silent. Total radio silence. No action. No plan. No leadership or action of any kind.

That is the real failure here, the government are really letting all of us down. I am astonished we haven’t heard a peep out of them.

Unless this is fixed, the people Labour are letting down the most are the legal ethnic minorities both born here, and those invited to live here, because of government inaction the country is now becoming increasingly frustrated and angry. Unheard. Unseen and demanding that this is addressed.

WHEN will we hear from Starmer? Where the fuck is he?
Are we all supposed to stand by and allow this to happen in this great country known for its gentle tolerance and inherent kindness?

It’s an absolute disgrace.

I don’t get the point about “not consenting for millions of arrivals”.

While that question has never been asked in a
stand alone referendum there have always been anti-immigrant political parties and the electorate have been free to vote for them.

Agreed.

Yes, as a British National, I think that’s too many visa admissions in my opinion. I also think we need to reduce the 6 month visa that is awarded for Standard visitors.

In the meantime they leave the women to starve to death?

I've mentioned in both my posts about evaluating safety in their individual family situations regarding support/protection with wider family in their home country vs the risks to life on the journey to claim asylum together, potentially with their children. I'm not sure I could be clearer - you obviously just want to dehumanise these men regardless.

Because it will be a different country without a majority of white British people. Your daughter holds two cultures, like my children. But they will have to choose. I’m preparing mine to do so.

Its not just skin color—I mentioned Tibet, which is being swamped by people of the same race, but different ethnicity.

Shit, didn’t the Irish fight you like a century ago over the same sort of thing???

JHound · 25/08/2025 12:47

Well they’re building a nuclear power plant 10 miles from me so going ok I guess.

not sure why you say “your crazy energy policy “. I’m not the govt.

oh and aren’t Reform against fracking? The local reform council seems to be.

and it was the Tories who mothballed all the coal power stations which is the stupidest thing ever. We need to be energy sufficient as a country. Dh works in this field and it’s been teetering on the edge for a decade. Dh reckons that the public would be horrified if they knew how bad it was. Years of under investment, no overall plan, no strategy.

Again, why is the colour of people's skin important to you? You haven't explained why you think that people like my dd present a threat. Please elaborate.

Do you consider your own dc to be a threat to British culture as well, because they are half American? Or do you consider them to be non-threatening because they happen to be white?

Why do you think my daughter (and your own dc) will have to choose between cultures?

What is racist is the generalisations made about entire groups of people like Muslims.

It is racist to suggest an entire group of people who subscribe to a single religion have beliefs in common?
