Yeah, I’m angry about the racism in this country. I’m angry about people’s behaviour towards immigrants who are being put up in hotels whilst they go through the system. I am angry about people quietly protesting being arrested whilst others are threatening to set fire and kill being left to continue. I’m angry that we sell arms that are killing children. I am fucking angry about the way things are. You seem to think I should be ashamed of that? Well I’m not.

I’ve asked you several times about the arms situation but instead you othered on about your dad driving a taxi in Spain. I want to hear your opinion on it, what you are doing about? Not that your parents are having a lovely time living in Spain whilst you don’t think anyone should come to “YOUR” country. You want a vote on immigration here but don’t seem to have any interest or understanding as to why some people seek asylum.

I have never said you should be ashamed of ANYTHING. You're making things up again.
Because of that, I'm leaving our discussion.

Except that sexual assault is mostly carried out by Brits. By a massive majority. People keep trying to use this as an excuse but it falls flat on its face when you actually look at the statistics and realise that Brits commit most sexual offences in Britain. So instead of frothing about immigrants, you should be looking at how to prevent sexual offences in this country starting from educational age instead.

Disingenuous.

Not the case when worked out according to per capita.

What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are:

  1. There is no OBLIGATION to house or grant benefits to asylum seekers. The legislation says "MAY provide" not "MUST provide"
  2. The UK already has many vulnerable people who are not similarly housed or provided benefits.

As such, we seem to have deliberately created a class of people who have greater benefits. That does seem to be a slap in the face for "native" brits, or indeed for legal migrants who are also excluded from such housing and benefits.

It's not surprising there is anger about such an interpretation of the immigratio act, or at the large amount of money being transferred from the taxpayer to the providers of such accommdation (and security)

There needs to be a more intelligent and sustainable approach than just importing low skilled workers.

I mean, when you're talking about the men who come on small boats, low skilled doesn't even cover it. Most of them don't speak English. Many are illiterate in their own languages. And they are raised in highly misogynist and homophobic cultures and religion. What can they possibly be contributing to the country? We are not talking about doctors, nurses, and engineers. We are talking about young unskilled entitled men who have already passed through several safe countries.

And you’ve done a poll, interviewed them all and that’s their profile??? 🙄🙄🙄

I have tried to explain this to countless people as well, it also leads to the loss of temporary housing as well.

Exactly. And ppl would moan like fuck if an SH tenant had another property yet also want them to live elsewhere to fruit pick (when their tenancy agreement says they have to live in the SH property!

Yes, it's the lumping everyone in as one person with one way of thinking that gets me.
They're all individual people.

I visited Bristol today. When I was on the park and ride bus travelling through the city centre I saw a grassy area outside an old building that looked like a chapel or some other old building with three small tents pitched up on it, and it did make me wonder if we can find hotel accommodation for people from outside the UK, then why on earth are there people living on the streets and roughing it in tents?

Edited

where in Bristol?

I know several homeless people who prefer to live in tents, although they have been offered sheltered accommodation.

WilfredsPies · 24/08/2025 18:08

Thedevilhasfinallycaughtupwithhim · 24/08/2025 17:31

How so?

It’s perfectly possible to create compounds with housing, heating and electricity.

With a medical centre and a school.

Why would this be unacceptable?

The women and children could be kept safe and warm. They would be fed and educated. I would even support their professing to be prioritised over the men’s.

🤦‍♀️ Are you on a wind up?

I mean, fuck the puffins. Can you really not see the problems with finding an ‘uninhabited Scottish island’ big enough to house the numbers currently arriving, build the infrastructure for them to be effectively detained (because it’s not as though they’d be able to get a bus into town or reunite with any family they have in the UK), get the staff to run it (would you fancy a daily commute to an uninhabited Scottish island that would presumably be inaccessible due to the weather on a regular basis?) and keep them detained there for the time it would take to consider a claim and go through any appeals?

We had detention centres. We used to detain families as well as single men. There are reasons we aren’t allowed to do that anymore.

The single men in the hotels are mostly economic migrants pretending to be asylum seekers.
Anyone who doesn’t realise that is frustrating naive. I loath people who think this way but haven’t had their own neighbourhoods negatively impacted by economic migration.

Stats from someone not named (or not really named) Robinson? And not from bloody Reform either pls

Nope, not true, do your research.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/03/10/foreigners-commit-up-to-quarter-of-sex-crimes/

23% vs 9% of the overall population

It’s disingenuous to suggest some cultures are not more accepting of sexual violence towards women and children.

HerLivingontheHill · 24/08/2025 17:15

So- are they asylum seekers or economic migrants? Make your mind up.

They are not coming from a war torn country.
They are coming from France.

Why don't they stay in France or, as they ought to, the first safe country they arrive in? That's what an asylum seeker is supposed to do.

They want to get to the UK.

I wonder why that is?

Many are working on the black market, illegally.

If they want to work here and are not seeking asylum, they can apply legally as immigrants.

Edited

It's a common myth that they "have to stay in the first cafe country" and France takes way more than we do. So does Italy and Germany to name two others
I think you'll find I didn't say why they are coming, for various reasons obviously. Some are fleeing persecution - which can be political, some war, some economic. Would you not want to try and earn more money if you're y lived in a third world country!?
We don't let them work until their case has been approved, if it is, and we don't give them pots of cash or benefits to the same amount as Brits get it either.

Social media doesn't help when you have people like Charlie Vietch, Dje Media, DJ Audits and the like are spreading so much false information and hatred it's unbelievable and people are gullible enough to believe it all.

oh lordy, that lot and the others that they have inspired who post their semi-articulate nonsense on YouTube. My city has a couple of locals who seem to spend most of their time (guess they don't have paid employment!) in the city centre filming people with obvious mental health problems, asking passersby leading and racist questions. If they don't engage they are berated as being "woke" and not caring about Our women and girls" . The comments all hail them as "true patriots" who will save us all. The lack of nuanced and critical thinking is concerning

All of these issues can be resolved with a bit of forward thinking.

We shouldn’t be allowing undocumented men into the country to live amongst the public.

Is this something you have seen with your own two eyes, or are you regurgitating statements you’ve seen online?

You only have to look at the numbers disembarking from border force vessels.
And the stats… 87% are 18-30 males.

WE DO NOT KNOW WHO THESE MEN ARE AND WHAT HARMS WE ARE IMPORTING!

I object to those men loitering outside their accommodations making unwanted comments to my 13yr old grandaughter walking to her bus from school!
“Hello darling, you pretty girl”
You very very pretty. Come home with me, I love you pretty girl”
She’s a child ffs! Filthy dirty bastards!

This is what our children have to put up with, so when will we start prioritising our citizens and detaining these illegals behind fences.

We managed to build nightingale hospitals in hangers. This is where illegals should be detained, in bunk beds in hangers.

They have committed a criminal act by entering our country illegally.

Hotels in communities should be for women and children only.
