I'm seeing a guy today, third date. It's very early days but I like him although possibly more as a friends with benefits type thing - I'm a lone parent and work full time so not looking for anything serious. I'm not sure yet.

We had sex on the last date and have both alluded to it this time around, I'm in peri and my cycle is usually still regular but my period has arrived a full two weeks early this morning. (I'm so pissed off but that's by the by).

He's not pushy at all but having mutually set up the expectation of sex I feel I need to tell him in advance. I'm still up for it but don't want him to feel pressured himself as I know not all guys are going to want that. Help me word this!

So, unfortunately, ladies days decided to visit when you did - ha! You still okay to hang out? We can go for a dinner or a movie or whatever else! Let me know x

MKDex · 15/08/2025 08:09

Just say sorry to do this last minute but something urgent has come up. Are yiu around on X date?

IceCreamWoes · 15/08/2025 08:11

"hey, I'm looking forward to seeing you later. Don't want to assume anything but thought it worth mentioning I randomly started my period today. I'm still up for hanging out though, if you are."

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/08/2025 08:16

You've had sex with this man but can't tell him you are menstruating? What a funny old world we live in.

CreationNat1on · 15/08/2025 08:20

Hi, happy Friday. My time of the month arrived unexpectedly this morning, I still want to hang out, just letting you know, in case you ld rather reschedule.

Rubyupbeat · 15/08/2025 08:20

Just tell him your period has started but you would still like to see him. Gone are the days you have to tiptoe round such subjects..

tumblingdowntherabbithole · 15/08/2025 08:21

Just tell him you have your period 🤷‍♀️

MsFelicityLemon · 15/08/2025 08:23

This really is the only way, because it's the straightforward way exactly to tell him want you want to tell him.

Might be worth questioning yourself why you feel awkward about saying you have your period. Is it because of how you think he'll react to the fact women menstruate or because how you feel about it.

Eeehbyeck · 15/08/2025 08:26

I wouldn’t even tell him in advance. I’d make the assumption that you don’t have to apologise in advance for being on you period and give him the option of but wanting to spend time with you on that basis!
it’s not a biggie, mention it casually when he gets there, most men aren’t even bothered by it, I still have sex when bleeding. If he or you prefer not to then there’s lots of other stuff you can do, you’re making a big deal out of this and it’s not necessary.
btw I’m not try to have a pop at you here! Just to say you shouldn’t see your bodily function as a problem

'ladies days' ???

Wtf.

OP, whatever you send, please don't use that phrase .

I can call it what I want without your permission, though, right?

What a weird thing to take issue with!

Who’s said you wouldn’t/shouldn’t have enjoyed it.

They’re just saying if you’re comfortable enough to have sex with him, telling him you’re on your period really should be a non issue

OrangeSmoke · 15/08/2025 08:32

Thanks to those of you who made constructive comments.

I've messaged him "really looking forward to hanging out later, it doesn't matter to me but thought I should let you know my period arrived unexpectedly this morning".

AmazingBouncingFerret · 15/08/2025 08:34

Don’t insinuate in a message that he would want to cancel just because you have your period, that’s so insulting!

Just put something like Hi, my period has come early so no sex when you come round today! See you soon.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 15/08/2025 08:35

That's pretty much what I'd have said. Had more than one date with activities adjusted due to bastard irregular periods.

(Dear autocorrect, while it's not impossible I might talk about large birds on Salisbury Plain, it is a far, far unlikelier frequency than you seem to think.)

I want to have sex though! I just want him to feel he can say no I suppose.

Oh @OrangeSmoke you could have had much fun with this
a string of nod nod wink wink message to see if he twigged
”the decorators are in”
”Aunt Flo is visiting”

there are more

Grin I did originally add (unless you’re into that!) in my post but thought I might have been reading the room wrong.

Have fun and enjoy your day 😉

NapoleonsToe · 15/08/2025 08:42

Why do you need to tell him in advance? And those sample messages saying you could see him another time instead 🤦‍♀️ We women are more than just a vagina.

Why wouldn't you just see each other to get to know each other better? If it looked like sex is on the cards, tell him and you can decide together what happens next ..

BCBird · 15/08/2025 08:44

Think ur second message is ambiguous OP. If it has been alluded to that sex might be on the cards, does ur second message mean sex when u got ur period doesn't bother you? If so, no.problem. if this is not what u mean then u will have to say so. Of course i know we can decide whether we fancy sex or not even if the suggestion of sex has been made.

That's right, I'm up for having sex on my period (I'd rather it wasn't my period, but I can still enjoy it) but I just wanted to let him know as I know not all men are comfortable with that.
