Be honest; if you’re a tall woman do you consider yourself superior to shorter women?

I know a few tall women who refer to shorter women as things like ‘short arses’ and I’ve seen the same thing said by taller women on the Style and Beauty boards here, too.

I’m 5ft 4, so am short myself, and have had derogatory comments made to me in the past by a few tall females. Yet I’d never dream of calling them an insulting name about being tall, or even really comment on their height at all.

OP posts:

I do look down on shorter women.

This made me laugh. I also look down on shorter people, unless I’m sitting down, then I look up.
But to answer the OPs question seriously- no, I do not.

youalright · 08/08/2025 19:04

You are being way to sensitive. And I say this as a short arse im 5ft2

arcticpandas · 08/08/2025 19:04

NewbieYou · 08/08/2025 19:01

5ft 7 is tall not average… it’s 4 inches above the worldwide average height

Sorry. I meant average for where I'm from.

beachwalkx · 08/08/2025 19:05

pokewoman · 08/08/2025 18:23

Im 5ft 11 and absolutely not.

I instead have to put up with comments from everyone about being a giraffe/did i think about netball/all the usual tropes about being tall

Exactly that, I would rather be 5ft 6

KPPlumbing · 08/08/2025 19:05

This is the most random thing I've ever read! I imagine the only comparison taller women make, if any, is that they occassionally feel cumbersome compared to little women. They shouldn't, but that's much more likely to have been socially conditioned into them that what you're suggesting, OP.

DonkeylovesWaffles · 08/08/2025 19:05

What an odd thing to post about

youalright · 08/08/2025 19:05

I would imagine its a lot harder for tall women then it is for short women.

Wistfullysleepy · 08/08/2025 19:06

5’4 is bang on average. You’re average.

I’m 5’8 and I love being tall

JamesMacGill · 08/08/2025 19:07

I think 5’6 is a lovely height for a woman. Taller end of normal.

I know a few short women who make being short their personality in a ‘I’m very cute’ way.

I’m 5’8 and used to feel tall but the teens round here, girls included, dwarf me!

MascaraGirl · 08/08/2025 19:07

I’m 5’6” - so hardly a giant - but I always envied the girls who could wear high heels and still be shorter than most men

user482904 · 08/08/2025 19:08

What an odd post.

I am 5'10" - did some modelling in my youth. Not once have I ever been mean about shorter women, why on earth would I?- people cant help their height.

I have however had some mean comments directed towards me from short men - eg "urgh dont wear high heels- it makes me look bad" etc but thats due to their own insecurity and noone tells me what to wear.

NewbieYou · 08/08/2025 19:09

I’m not quite sure why everyone thinks life is much harder for tall women though? Models are all tall… the social epitome of beauty that’s lauded around the world as the ideal. They’re all 5’8+ so I’m not sure why we’re all acting like tall women don’t have representation within beauty standards.

Hevasparkle · 08/08/2025 19:09

i am 5’3 and used to get lots of derogatory comments about my short height from taller women, all through school but most prominent at university aged 18-21. Now late 30s no one really says anything, come to think of it.

some of the most memorable comments

“short arse”
“how does it feel to be 2 foot tall”
“stupid short person”
“do you need a kids meal”
“you’d look great if you were just a bit taller”
“let’s line up (for a photo) in height order…you get to the end”

so yes, I did get the impression my taller female peers thought it was somewhat superior being taller

beachwalkx · 08/08/2025 19:10

SunflowerTattoos · 08/08/2025 18:44

Tall men always seem to pick petite women, my OH is shorter than me, I've never actually dated anyone taller.
No, I don't make comments about women who are shorter, but I often receive them. Often they use the word big, which I hate, I'm tall but not overweight. My DDs get this too... "Oh! you're a big girl" 😡

I HATE that, when they say oh you’re a big girl aren’t you
one day I’ll end up shouting JUST FUCK OFF at someone who does it
if i am with my cousins and relatives i fit in perfectly, but around standard size women i feel like a lumbering clumsy giant

Yeah I find this odd too- I get a lot of positive attention due to my figure

Iwanttoliveonamountain · 08/08/2025 19:11

OP whatever is going on with you its nothing to do with your majestic 5' 4"

Whitehorses67 · 08/08/2025 19:12

What a bizarre thing!
I am tall (well was considered tall years ago, these days a lot of young women seem to be much taller than me) but of course I don’t judge shorter women negatively.
To be honest I have always wished I was about 5 ft 2 so I could ride smaller ponies.
Appreciate that is probably a niche view.

Cleebeeface · 08/08/2025 19:13

I’m 5’7 and most people go on like I’m the BFG.

whengodwasarabbit1 · 08/08/2025 19:14

I'm just 5ft, never ever had a woman make a derogatory comment about my height.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 08/08/2025 19:16

This is a really stellar bonkers MN question ✨

Twelftytwo · 08/08/2025 19:17

Sounds like you've got something of a complex OP 😆 and you're not even that short!

Octoberdreaming · 08/08/2025 19:18

Sorry to disappoint you - but 5ft 4 certainly isn’t short, it’s about normal height for a woman. You are just an average woman OP. What a bizarre post.

This is really bizarre

5ft 3 is short end of average more than actually short, so unless you hung out only with tall women I do not understand how you stood out at all (I am also 5ft 3)

Because the real world and the modelling world aren't the same thing. Being a tall woman is like being a short man

New2you · 08/08/2025 19:21

I’ve never experienced this
