Be honest; if you’re a tall woman do you consider yourself superior to shorter women?

I know a few tall women who refer to shorter women as things like ‘short arses’ and I’ve seen the same thing said by taller women on the Style and Beauty boards here, too.

I’m 5ft 4, so am short myself, and have had derogatory comments made to me in the past by a few tall females. Yet I’d never dream of calling them an insulting name about being tall, or even really comment on their height at all.

Reminds me of when Eamonn Holmes said he wouldn’t date Taylor Swift & hence she was forced to settle for a 6ft athlete 🤣

No it’s not, it’s genetic not hormonal 😆 PCOS is linked to high testosterone, I know a few ladies with PCOS and they’re all shorter and apple shaped.

The rubbish being pedalled on this thread - I can’t help but think it was started to get everyone bashing tall women. There are some short women out there who seem to make a big ‘thing’ of their height and how tiny/cute they are when they… just look like a short woman. And the funny thing is OP is actually an inch taller than average!

I have PCOS I'm 5'10 my mum is 5'1 my dad 5'6, my brother the same. I have always wondered if it was the excess testosterone that did it. I had a real growth spurt around 15-17 and didn't get my first period until 17. No science just curiosity.
My family are all short except me. I also have a 6'4 husband (who calls me a short arse) and a 6 year old who is taller than his (short for their age) 10 year old cousin, so definitely genetics at play there, I've just always wondered if I'm an anomaly because of my hormones.
In DHs family I'm the short one which is novel!

Yes. They were selling men nothing.

(Edited to add, and no I am not nuts.)

Why are you, a man, inserting yourself into a conversation between women like this? You are neither a short or a tall woman, but you have managed to derail the thread so it’s all about you and what you find attractive. Some of us are tall and skinny. What do you expect us to do? Chop our legs off because it isn’t your preference?

Yet another man with main character syndrome thinking it’s every woman’s top priority to be sexually appealing to him, specifically.

I think tall height is generally considered masculine (its linked to testosterone levels) - so a plus for men but negative for women in terms of attractiveness. Also aren't the beauty standards for models influenced a lot by gay men who want tall and androgynous looking women (eg very skinny, no curves, tall) so they look more boyish? I'm sure I read that somewhere - that modelling beauty standards aren't about femininity

Yes, that is a look for some designers, but Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bundchen, Karly Kloss, Georgia May Jagger - not very masculine or androgynous, are they?

Personal preference apart, men who are threatened by tall women have small dick energy. Look at the number of rock stars who've dated or married tall women? Mick Jagger or Rod Stewart for example. They are all supremely confident (to the point of arrogance). Conversely, Taylor Swift doesn't seem to have had any trouble in getting a date, does she?

This all stems from perceptions of power and who should have it (hint: its not women).

Your 5’10” height is nil to do with developing PCOS and all to do with genetics regardless of the fact that your parents were objectively shorter.

As a tall woman myself, I’ve always found it amazing that shorter men come out with the stuff that @TomPinchhas spouted on this thread. We literally don’t care if you’d date us or not fgs. Men are not the prize. I don’t know if you’ve been keeping up in the 20th and 21st century, but women in the free world have equally amazing careers with lots of money, and really don’t need to entertain your bs.

They want to make out the only desirable women are the short ones and thus the ones they have more of a chance with. That the height discrepancy is an ‘us’ problem, not a ‘him’ problem.

I know lots of short blokes in happy marriages, they didn’t need to leave the country to find love. The difference is the attitude, I think.

TomPinch · 10/08/2025 20:01

My original (and very limited) point was in response to a post that said straight men also found models attractive and I replied to say that I felt they were more a beauty standard women (collectively) set for themselves. Men do the same in their own way. I don't think this is controversial. None of this is an attack on models- I don't think there's anything wrong with looking like one or not looking like one, and I have not said so. I also think there is a lot wrong with enforcing beauty stereotypes and denegrating other's looks.

I don't have the time or inclination to reply to personal attacks, particularly ones that invent some ridiculous backstory about me. I've reported some of the more ridiculous ones and I see they've been removed.

bookworm14 · 10/08/2025 20:13

Apropos of nothing, here is an extract from Cindy Crawford’s Wikipedia page.

Be honest; if you’re a tall woman do you consider yourself superior to shorter women?

In your opinion- as one single man. I just asked my husband and he said he used to have a huge crush on Cindy Crawford in the 90s so I disagree with you that straight men "dont find models attractive".

I think most men would be pleased as punch if a model agreed to go out with them. You've made it clear you find porn models attractive and most of the women I know would agree what a sad perspective that is considering that porn stars go to extreme and often health damaging lengths to modify their bodies. The fact you think most men prefer this look is highly misogynistic and offensive.

Im 5 foot 3 and regularly told I'm tiny ? It appears I'm not off this thread

I come from a family of tall, slim, women and none of us have ever had any issues with male interest. By that measure, given you’re just one man, I actually know more than you whether or not straight men like tall slim women. Plenty do. You’re not the spokesman for all men.

I think most men don’t have a hard line on tall vs short anyway. They just fancy whoever they fancy and aren’t worrying about silly things like height if they’re lucky enough to find someone who fancies them back.

TaupeMember · 10/08/2025 21:00

@TomPinch

You've really embarrassed yourself on this thread.

Have no idea why you're on here at all.

TomPinch · 11/08/2025 08:57

Good grief. Some of you. I would reply point by point, to be honest, I haven't much more I think I need to say. I will add that I did not say I found porn models attractive as I did not state any preferences of my own. Repeat it as much as you like, but my original post is there for anyone who cares to read it, unlike some of the replies. As for the comment that most men would be as pleased as punch to date a model: well, I hope so, but I hope more that anyone would be as pleased as punch that anyone else who is a good match likes them, regardless of their looks. But this is all beside my original point.

Most of the rest is allegation by people who have spent far too much time o this. And the result? A bunch of deleted posts, at least one of which must have taken ages to compile, with some irritable remnants. I don't see how that is embarrassing to me.

This is the lie that got around the world before the truth got its boots on. There is NO link between taller height in women and higher testosterone levels. Or lower oestrogen levels . At any point.

alicewins · 16/09/2025 20:13

It's usually women who get at other women for being tall. And men of 5ft9.

jmanslaughing · 16/09/2025 20:16

I like short women.
I have always seen tall women as masculine and unattractive and petite woman as feminine and attractive.

alicewins · 16/09/2025 20:16

No. I've heard that used as an excuse for humiliating the bejesus out of tall girls and women many times. Tall women don't tend to be thinking about the height of other women much.

I'm tall and no I don't. I don't feel inferior either. I've been got at though. Told my other girls when I was teenage that I'm like a man, by women that I'm a freak , by a man of average height that they'd be scared to meet me in a dark alley too. I'm only 5ft 10. Have other tall women had similar experiences?
