Be honest; if you’re a tall woman do you consider yourself superior to shorter women?

I know a few tall women who refer to shorter women as things like ‘short arses’ and I’ve seen the same thing said by taller women on the Style and Beauty boards here, too.

I’m 5ft 4, so am short myself, and have had derogatory comments made to me in the past by a few tall females. Yet I’d never dream of calling them an insulting name about being tall, or even really comment on their height at all.

I think it's a good bet that the average porn star's vital statistics reflect heterosexual men's preferences better!

Porn stars also very often have fake boobs and ridiculous OTT lip fillers - does that mean we should all aspire to that look to attract the "majority" of men?

Edited

Certainly not!!!

Not necessarily the ones they want to end up with tho, eh!

Only in their dreams!

I find that tall ranges now are for ladies 5ft10+, so just a bit too tall for me, whereas the regular clothing is just slightly too short. It’s a pain! ASOS is good as you can choose leg length etc

This is where I am too - I’ve shrunk a bit so probably about 5ft9

What I have find over the years is that I find a brand that fits and stick with it and also that I keep clothes until they are literally faded and falling apart so good for the environment

Exactly - so then, who cares if porn stars are more "desirable" for men. It doesnt mean porn stars are objectively more "attractive" - often they look like ridiculous caricatures and certainly not what I would consider a standard of beauty

I’m 6ft, and was picked on chronically at school (all girls) because of it. As the girls matured a lot of them were envious of my figure, and as I started to appreciate it. I did have a phase of feeling better than others, particularly when I went off to a club with a tiny mini skirt and my 36” legs showing. It’s also been a bit easier to not get intimidated in a work environment when surrounded by tall men. Now I’m (much) older, I’m appreciative of the increased metabolic rate as my shorter peers are struggling but not of the struggle to sit in theatres or airplanes.

Passthecake30 · 09/08/2025 11:44

Also OP, I’ve had many many names called to me throughout my life, and now hearing the same to DS (6ft4). I’ve never called people short.

I think tall height is generally considered masculine (its linked to testosterone levels) - so a plus for men but negative for women in terms of attractiveness. Also aren't the beauty standards for models influenced a lot by gay men who want tall and androgynous looking women (eg very skinny, no curves, tall) so they look more boyish? I'm sure I read that somewhere - that modelling beauty standards aren't about femininity

Don’t agree with any of this.
Complete garbage.

Same here , and I’m 5’6” with long arms and legs. Tricky! And because I’ve got long legs I probably look taller than I really am, which may explain why I’ve so had many odd comments about my height

Yes, I skip about cackling with glee as I grab things off high shelves

😂😂
I swear that my local Tesco superstore has a way-greater-than-chance proportion of extremely tall male staff, presumably for their shelf-stacking excellence.

Oddly, though, they don't seem to favour tall women particularly.

Yeah, growing up, I think about all of the supermodels of my generation - Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova (who did the famous wonder bra ad) - and yep- all so very masculine and un-feminine weren't they? 😂😂😂

The point was made that heterosexual men found models attractive and I doubted this.

See my post above lol You think men didnt find models like Cindy Crawford attractive in their hey day? or the Victoria secrets models attractive?

Dream on.

Hah! That's going back a while! I'll agree to the extent that images of them helf-naked were everywhere and men find half-naked women attractive. But their purpose was to market products to women, not men, and I think they reflected women's ideas of female beauty standards rather then men's.

Were you even around at the time?!!

This body type was seen as very sexy at the time, by men and women.

The worse insult was your bum looks big in this and low slung jeans with hardly any curves at all were everywhere

The ideal of female beauty is always changing but many men fancy tall, slim women even today when shorter curvy women are presented as the ideal type

Give it ten years, it'll be something else

Yes, I was around at the time and I have a different view. Also, I recall that women were more preoccupied with those models than men were. I also remember being 16 and realising it was my crush's big bum that made her gorgeous to me and I don't think I was unique!

You do realise not every man likes the same as you, right?
