Well, John Torode has now been sacked too.
Who should take over?

It was an amazing reboot following Loyd. Should it be scrapped?

I actually really like Camillas son - forgotten his name 🤣
Definitely not James Martin, Jamie or a woman who's name I can't remember either 🤣 not Anna the Irish one, but not her either.
Marcus absolutely.

Would it make sense for the professionals team to just take over and then get two up and coming professional chefs to take over professionals?

Coffeeishot · 16/07/2025 10:16

TheBuffetInspector · 16/07/2025 10:09

That's settled then. Thread closed 😂

Yes that's us done 😀

Shoxfordian · 16/07/2025 10:20

I feel sorry for the contestants who filmed the series that now won't be released, especially the winner - maybe they should do some publicity around the winner so they still get offers and work from it even without showing the series

FurForksSake · 16/07/2025 10:30

Have they announced they aren’t airing it at all? IPlayer feels like it would be a solution, people could watch it they choose.

I was thinking that yesterday @Shoxfordian . It's not just the women who the behaviour was aimed at but some of the contestants will have put an awful lot into the competition which had potential to change their lives. And if MC is cancelled people in already fairly precarious jobs will now be up shit creek. That man, and the others, have a lot to answer for.

I think you need a chef of decent standing to judge the professionals. It wouldn't work so well if they were being judged by their peers. Marcus and Monica do a fair amount of teaching and coaching as well as judging.

I think Monica and Si would be great. Please not Andi Oliver - I'd watch GBM if it wasn't for her. If they want to bring in some new blood for the general series, there must be some younger chefs that compete there that would be good.

I feel we should be informed of what was said. I think that this is all a bit OTT in relation to JT. GW definitely deserved the sack considering the number of complaints…

Yes obviously racism of any sort is totally unacceptable but the timing of this seems rather convenient. I hope he can appeal.

FurForksSake · 16/07/2025 11:10

If they were to change the format what would we want to see?

I like the skills tests, do they still do those? I also like masterclasses when they then recreate the dishes and when they go to the kitchens and then you see how they’ve then been inspired to cook.

I think one of the American shows does a good market challenge, there is a “market” and depending where they come they get first dibs etc on “shopping” the market to make a meal to a brief. That might be the Australian version?

I don’t like the team tasks, it’s just histrionics and edited for drama.

Zempy · 16/07/2025 11:22

Nigella and Andi Oliver

gingercat02 · 16/07/2025 11:23

@FurForksSake
Get rid of all celeb versions and the shouty wall, or the cook half a dish each nonsense.

In normos the street food one annoys me and the "make .... the star" like bloody garlic or coriander
Also the cook from the heart bit where they all cry about someone who died.

I'd leave professionals alone, one of my favourite local restaurants is run by a professionals runner up.

Agreed. I think it’s disproportionate… an apology is necessary and appropriate, but not a sacking. Again - I’m not aware of what was said exactly, but just seems suspect that it’s off the back of GW complaints!!! Feels like a witch hunt.

It’s also interesting that it was a remark made in a social setting, not at work. I’m interested in how they are able to properly investigate that and sack him for it.

oh really? I didn’t know that. Definitely feels like a tribunal territory?! Although I read that his contract just wasn’t extended or something so I don’t know where that leaves him legally. I always wondered if JT would go when GW got into trouble.

I know it’s not right what they’ve both done but I basically grew up watching masterchef so I feel a bit sad!

Hoolahoophop · 16/07/2025 11:56

I'd love Andi and Si, lovely warm people with lots of encouragement.

Or someone completely new and fresh.

dimsumfatsum · 16/07/2025 12:02

Definitely NOT Marcus- his stare gives me the heebie jeebies.

twilighteaser · 16/07/2025 12:20

Grace Dent, love her and her books, hosting with:

Si King
Nigella
Monica
Jamie
Gordon ( who actaully would be v good if he's his normal self and does't play up for cameras)

Non Chefs:
Tom PB
Jay Rayner

mydogisthebest · 16/07/2025 12:24

I think Big Zuu would be brilliant.

Definitely do not want Alison Hammond or Nigella Lawson or Cherish.

Andi Oliver would be good or Nisha Katona.

I really hope that they don't make it like the American or Australian versions though. I can't watch either of them as they annoy me too much

Bobblebiscuits296 · 16/07/2025 13:09

Qoopwhooping · 16/07/2025 09:35

Alex would be amazing. She’s in the hospitality business, she can be brutally honest but has endless charm. She also really cares.

I love Alex! In fact, if I wasn’t a heterosexual woman, I would want to marry Alex! 😆

whynotwhatknot · 16/07/2025 13:14

am i gthe only person who doesnt want si king sorry unpopular opnion

Google says he wasn't sacked. I don't think hes in favour atm.

FlannelandPuce · 16/07/2025 13:41

Nadia? Or has she burnt her bridges with her recent criticisms of the BBC?

EmptyHandles · 16/07/2025 13:43

Aye, but Giles Coren's 'somethings' the BBC aren't usually averse to.

I don't believe for a minute that the sacking of Jonty Rhode is from them "learning lessons".

I agree, I wouldn't want Si King, I've got nothing against him apart from he reminds me of someone I'd rather not be reminded of.
