Well, John Torode has now been sacked too.
Who should take over?

It was an amazing reboot following Loyd. Should it be scrapped?

I actually really like Camillas son - forgotten his name 🤣
Definitely not James Martin, Jamie or a woman who's name I can't remember either 🤣 not Anna the Irish one, but not her either.
Marcus absolutely.

Is Tom kerridge eating at the moment? I vaguely remember when he was losing weight he was refusing to taste much… but that might have been a dream! Sorry Tom!

MissyB1 · 15/07/2025 20:44

Can we drag Delia out of retirement? Always thought she was far superior to Prue. No to Monica or Marcus please, both of them come acoss as unpleasant at times.

Crunched · 15/07/2025 20:46

I like Si King and Monica. If they are going for a whole new look, Aktar Islam and Cherish Findon (from Bake Off The Professionals). I would like Lloyd Grossman to pop up and Liam Charles (also from BO- The Professionals) seems capable and pleasant.

Fresh blood give others a chance hold open auditions

Oh now that's the dream.
With Bezza as an occasional guest judge.

Bezza as a usual judge. Sean to ask if the eggs were from battery operated chickens.

Highly unlikely it's Nadia from GBBO given she's really laid into the BBC in a recent podcast.

TheBuffetInspector · 15/07/2025 20:59

I'm just thankful that we'll no longer have to see Lisa Faulkner EVERY series as a guest judge.

I've read every post and I want Si and Andi...

Theyll be giggling away!

That may be the case but equally JT is representing the beeb even when not on telly and it damages their brand for one of their "stars" to be making racist comments.

Edited

It is my suspicion that JT was actually sacked for keeping quiet about GW.

I mean, all those years, you can’t tell me he didn’t know what GW was like, but yet he said nothing at the time, he didn’t speak up for the young women who felt unable to do so themselves, and AFAIK hasn’t said anything since the allegations came to light either.

So he’s tainted/guilty by association IYSWIM and I think that possibly the racist remarks are just a convenient excuse for the BBC to get rid of JT as well and start completely afresh.

amicisimma · 15/07/2025 21:24

Ping Coombes and Eddie Scott

I remember when they announced they were bringing back master chef, I was excited for three course menus, blue corners and bringing in one piece of kitchen equipment. It was one of my favourite tv shows as a child and the “new” format is nothing like the original to the point I always wondered why they recycled the name.

When it came back originally it was called "Masterchef Goes Large" but they dropped that after a few years.

Some of the challenges are a bit ridiculous like all the mass catering ones. Also they used to do the "passion test" where they eliminated people for not crying and talking absolute bullshit about their cooking journey.

I was never a fan of the Lloyd Grossman version but certainly there's room to pivot a little towards the original format while not making it too boring.

EverythingIsComputer · 15/07/2025 21:24

Big Zuu or Niklas Ekstedt or Ching He Huang.

I think a lot of chefs would have more skeletons in the closet that Gggggg W or JT but the ones mentioned above seem pretty decent to me. Think the beeb have to really stop having Tommy Banks, Tom Kitchen et al on now as the allegations against them are very well known.

Exactly! And just bounce off it’s each other. But disagree in some respects but in a nice all tastes are different way

Laiste · 15/07/2025 21:35

Andi Oliver please.

With Si King maybe. Or one of our many fab female chefs.

Please no to Mary Berry, or any other of the predictable white middle class cohort.

Qoopwhooping · 15/07/2025 21:41

Not Andi please.

I think you could well be right.
I've always refused to believe that he had no idea what Gregg was up to, they worked together for two decades, there wasn't exactly a minimal amount of complaints during that time and at no point has JT put out any kind of strong statement condemning Greggs actions.

I had this argument so many times last year with posters who thought highly of JT and were adamant that he probably didn't know anything about what Gregg was doing. It got tedious very quickly!

And YY to the poster who said no more Lisa. Small mercies!

I'll take Andi but I don't think I can watch Si being a part of any double act that doesn't feature Dave 😥

SwedishEdith · 15/07/2025 21:47

What about Sabrina Ghayour? She's personable and on Saturday Kitchen a lot. Or Yotem Ottolenghi? He'd be lovely.

PeonyPatch · 15/07/2025 22:13

Sad about John Torode :(

Middlemarch123 · 15/07/2025 22:15

I think it’s a shame about John T, think there’s more behind his sacking.

I know what you mean. However, if Si wants to get back into TV then maybe doing a presenting in a studio with someone would be more comfortable instead of biking around the country on his own.

TubeScreamer · 15/07/2025 22:35

Please not Andi Oliver

TheBuffetInspector · 15/07/2025 23:19

JT is now saying he only heard that he'd been sacked via the media.

Gregg wasn't going to go quietly was he?

I definitely think Si or Marcus as the chef. I just hope the counterpart isn't Stacy Solomon or Alison Hammond.

I do like Grace Dent.

FurForksSake · 15/07/2025 23:22

Twonewcats · 15/07/2025 23:26

Does anyone know what JT said?

WeirdyBeardyMarrowBabyLady · 15/07/2025 23:28

I don’t enjoy watching Grace Dent.

Let’s reunite Gordon Ramsay and Angela Hartnett
