Watching an advert for a shower gel for 'people who don't lotion every day' Who actually has the time to lotion everyday?

As I say - DH & me wondering who has the time & energy to put body lotion on every day, unless they have particularly dry skin, eczema etc?

Yes I will put body lotion on after a day in the sun when on holiday or on parts of my body if they're looking or feeling dry (my shins often get dry & flaky), always put SPF30 moisturiser on my face & neck, but other than that I neither have the time or inclination.

Am I unusual?

I never do this.

I've moisturised my face and hands every day since I was about 16. My body skin is never dry or flaky. I workout and have lots of olive oil, nuts and water though 🤷‍♀️.

Same here.

Why aren’t you washing?! Just water doesn’t get the grime off neck, ears, feet, armpits

Not the poster you quoted @fireplaceember but what grime? Maybe the PP doesn’t have a dirty house, job, or hobbies. I’m struggling to recall the last time I’ve felt that my ears were grimy to be honest. Do you put lotion on your ears too?

Daily grime! The poster I quote was replying to someone that never uses soap anywhere on their body and just water
sorry but that’s disgusting, you need to wash your armpits, feet, neck etc
if you don’t use anything but water of course after so many years you’ll have a grubby neck and ears and smell musty at best

I’m not talking about 2-3 days of not washing, the posters said they don’t use anything but water

I don’t lotion my ears but I wash them with a flannel and soap

If they’re not using any form of soap then I really hope they’re at least using some sort of wash cloth/sponge/exfoliating mitt to scrub with, otherwise the build up of dirt and skin would be awful.

I never use body lotion. Once or twice a year on my legs if that. Skin is fine.

Well it doesn't dry my skin, whereas lots of shower gels leave me feeling tight and itchy.

Dove isn’t actually soap, which is maybe why. Proper soap is lovely.

IggleBiggle · 06/07/2025 21:23

I put body lotion on after every shower or bath! Only takes 3 seconds. One of those big Garnier tubs. I have also done since beginning of time.

If I don't my skin can feel quite itchy and go quite dry
