I remember an old thread where a group of friends basically denied themselves treats on holidays and days out for years because one couple in the group were supposedly hard up and they didn’t want the other couple to struggle. It turned out that they actually had saved a substantial amount to put their son through Uni . I wonder what happened next as the OP and friends were absolutely outraged and were going to confront hard up couple, but the thread had reached maximum posts so never knew what happened next . What is the thread that you remember and would love an update on ?

A couple had rented out one of their properties but the renters didn't quite understand that renting didn't mean owning. They had used red gloss paint on the skirting boards around the whole house as well as other stuff and it seemed like the man had previous for that type of behaviour. But never found out up the OP got them out and fixed the paint!

Did the ironing board ever appear?

I remember a thread where the OP was suspecting an emotional affair between her dh a celebrity that he grew up with. She was going to confront him but never came back with an update afterwards. Everyone was speculating who the other woman was.

There was one not so very long ago, where the OP and her husband had been invited to a wedding.

From nowhere, and quite close to the wedding, her husband decided she should handmake a wedding present. I think he wanted her to draw or paint something, but she had no artistic talent.

I'd love to know what gift the newlyweds actually received.

There was one recently entitled 'how do I tell him' where a lovely woman was being abused by her partner. She came to realise what was going on, got her ducks in a row, secretly rented a house and courageously left him! I think of her often and would love to know how she's getting on.

There was a woman unexpectedly pregnant at 45 but with a much older partner who was very unhappy about it. He was actually the father of her best friend, who was also very unhappy.

A very old one (definitely more than ten years) about a poster called something like GettingBigger or GettingStronger who was in an abusive relationship. She had three children and her husband was emotionally abusing her.

There were a couple of threads from her, and one detail that sticks in my mind was that she said her husband had locked the middle child outside one cold evening because the child was refusing to take medication (maybe an inhaler?). Then later on she gave the ages of the children, and the middle one was five years old. I found that so upsetting. She was planning to leave or thinking of leaving, but then stopped posting. I wonder if she ever got out.

I remember one from at least 15 years ago. a woman with 2 daughters, and an abusive husband. He used control their eating, and she talked about missing the dinner parties they attended, but hadn’t linked that to the fact it was the only time she could eat without comment.

I think he was refusing to get the car fixed- which had dodgy brakes.
The detail I really remember was that the older child basically wouldn’t come home from boarding school, and he would twang the daughters’ underwear because …. reasons (he was a predator)

Oh yes, I remember that! She was the Queen of the CFers, and I couldn't wait to find out about Christmas. Unfortunately, I suspect it was just a clever troll, but it certainly took me in.

I'm sure it's been resolved but I've not seen it, but the one with the woman who went away and found her neighbours had knocked down a wall into her private courtyard. I'm fairly sure it was a troll but it was entertaining

The poster who had some woodland stolen.
Unfortunately she had more pressing issues so had to put her fight on a back-burner but I do hope she eventually got her land back.

The OP always hosted Christmas at vast expense with little in the way of thanks, so decided to cancel it and go to Disneyland. The last I read her family were threatening to make calls to social services out of 'concern' for her mental health. Was so happy for her to get away and always wondered how her Disney Christmas went and what those relationships are like now.

It was on relationships years ago, maybe a decade or so.
. The poster was in South Africa I think and her husband was a pillar of the community type and also very abusive. She was trying to find a way to leave and was so worried that nobody she knew would believe her or support her.
I really hope she did get away. Her name was something about stars I think
