Agree Karen is over. Eileen will never again be resurrected & the same with Noleen. I think Bonnie will not be back again for a while.

I know a baby Bonnie.

Without the connotations it’s actually a nice name, so I’m not surprised if it’s making a comeback.

I wouldn’t automatically think of the serial killer - it was long before I was born and I’m in my mid-40s. For most having children now it will be ancient history.

Adolf is the only name mentioned so far that I really can’t see coming back.

I live in a world where I could easily see there being an Adolf Musk.

And by the same token, why isn't "Joseph" verboten ?

CremeEggThief · 14/06/2025 15:28

Sorry but some of these suggestions are crazy!
Olive is popular again, Barbara is in use and how on earth could Mark ever die out, especially in Catholic countries. 😬😆

Boris Johnson has a Frank. Tbh, he probably has children with all of these names.

Edna

I read an article, can't remember where, that tipped Edna as an up-and-coming name. I sent it to a friend whose mother is called Edna, as a baby name suggestion.

Me sitting here knowing I was planning calling my long awaited for baby 'Gary Donald Surname' if it's a boy has thrown me off the name

Myfridgeiscool · 14/06/2025 15:31

I know a Bonnie who is sixty and a Bonnie who is one. Also know a Euphemia, she’s under 10.

Definitely Gary. Keith maybe, possibly Kevin? Vernon?
I know a couple of little Percys, preschool age.

Edited

I know a 25 year old Gary

Slatterndisgrace · 14/06/2025 14:55

Joyce. Elaine. Andrea.

Andrea is very popular in continental Europe for boys and girls, especially boys in Italy, so unless Brexit does what some people hoped it would do there will be Andreas for a long time.

Gary
Nigel
Craig
Darren
Lee

Gordon
Karen
Barry

Mark and Linda and Julie are nice names. They'll definitely stay around. For a name to disappear it needs to really associated with a bad event or person or to have a really ugly sound. Nigel meets both those criteria.

Yes, I could see that particular name being used!

And I’d argue that most people don’t automatically think of the dictator when they hear “Joseph”. I am not sure there are any other famous or infamous Adolfs?

Gordon isn’t used any more (but it may become popular again - I know of a boy called Stanley).

Lots of Stanleys and a Gordon in my school!

A few Adolphes from the early 20th or 19th centuries, but nobody anywhere close to as well known as Hitler. Whereas there are hundred and hundred of famous Josephs.
