I actually floated Basil as a potential name for my son when I was pregnant… I blame hormones 😂 my husband just replied ‘as in Brush?’ Or Fawlty I suppose 😂

Edited

I immediately think great mouse detective 😄

RosesAndHellebores · 14/06/2025 15:37

I don't like Joyce but Joy is lovely.
Can't see a resurgence of Canute.
I think Tracey is a pretty name and will come back when people's grandma Traceys have passed away. Just as Edith, Mabel, etc, came round again. I am waiting for Joan.

Would I be right to think you feel positive about Brexit, UKIP and Reform?

Olive

Olive is still alive and well. I’ve met a few young Olives in recent years.

No.

Would I bee right in thinking you’ve got twin boys, Jayden and Kayden?

Cyclingmummy1 · 14/06/2025 15:41

WalkingWavy · 14/06/2025 15:18

Karen has been ruined for everyone.
Martin, Simon, Julie, Yvonne

I know an 8 year old Julie.

Slatterndisgrace · 14/06/2025 14:53

😁 I love it when there’s a cat called Nigel or something.

My favourite was a dog called John.

oh him! I don't give him headspace.....also thats current stuff....I mean in history he might merit one sentence or a footnote nothing more.

I know a Bonnie who is sixty and a Bonnie who is one. Also know a Euphemia, she’s under 10.

I know a Bonnie in her 40s. I suppose Bonnie Langford must be in her 60s now (that makes me feel old).

Judy
Sally
Michelle
Nick/Nicholas
John
Roger
Simon
Andy

All the Duran names!

There's threads regularly asking about Nicholas for a baby with almost universal approval. And John is a great name, will never go out of use because so many families have a John.

MikeRafone · 14/06/2025 15:42

Nigel

godmum56 · 14/06/2025 15:42

SerendipityJane · 14/06/2025 15:39

Er, aren't all names "made up" ?

originally of course....before that we were all called ugg or a similar one syllable noise

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 14/06/2025 15:43

Lavenderfarmcottage · 14/06/2025 15:21

Agree Karen is over. Eileen will never again be resurrected & the same with Noleen. I think Bonnie will not be back again for a while.

I know a 2 year old Bonnie. Her dm knows of 2 more.

BrandyandGinger · 14/06/2025 15:43

I don't think Brian, Kevin, Martin and Dennis will disappear in Ireland. They are very common names for men in their 50s and I think some of them will have grandchildren called after them in the next decade or so.
I also predict Claire and Colette will have a mini revival. They're very pretty names.

MikeRafone · 14/06/2025 15:43

There have been 28 Nigel’s since 2015 in uk

Bromptotoo · 14/06/2025 15:43

There are regional variations here. In England a woman called Audrey is going to be elderly.

In Scotland much less so.
