We started feeling a bit silly after after the first minute of rotating slowly in each other's arms though (this was before the days when people learn a dance!) so encouraged everyone to join in after that. I was expecting it to be the most romantic moment of the day but we ended up giggling.

I would not recommend 'Stairway to Heaven' for a first dance. My first husband insisted on it, back in 1989 - which was fine to start with, but once you hit 'if there's a bustle in your hedgerow', it just gets harder and harder to dance to. He was a lousy dancer at the best of times!

Luckily I avoided a 'first dance' at my second wedding, which was very low-key. The marriage has lasted a lot longer too! Hope you find a song you love, OP :)

Can't remember. Our DJ was shit. It was over 30 years ago. We were like "Do you have name of song"? DJ "Nope" x50 until he had one we slightly recognised. God he was so bad 😔
