She's 72, younger than Princess Anne who went to Liverpool at short notice and toured hospitals and thanked staff for what they had done. I don't think PA hit anyone, it isn't in any news I've seen.

Exactly, I said this upthread. Adding that she's also recently had a head injury! No sign of her physically abusing her husband.
Funny that.

It’s almost as if every woman over 70 isn’t the same. Who’d have thought it? 🙄

I don't think anybody wonders what he did to "deserve it". But it would be interesting to know her motives behind it all.

Posters have literally speculated as to what he did to deserve it!

Yes, indeed some have. Not only are we able to see a forceful two handed shove to the face, we can also read.

Well one thing is for sure, 72 isn't late 70s.

Uricon2 · 28/05/2025 20:24

A bit off piste but about the excuses based on her age and long journey. I'm in my 60s, I have a heart condition and I've been caring for my bedbound 6 foot husband for years. Some days I ache so much physically and mentally it is a massive effort to get up. Mme. Macron's life is in terms of physical comfort and ease an idyll I can barely imagine, so absolute zero-zero-sympathy if she lost control because she was a bit tired after a luxury plane journey.

This. Mme Macron has no excuse
None.
Wishing you health and strength 🙏 🌻

Princess Anne was already in Liverpool to visit the cruise ship, The Queen Anne. I know it's not key to this thread but she was already there, didn't just nip up because of what happened on Sunday.

True, but I think the point is that she is 75, recently had a head injury and managed to perform a public duty without assaulting her husband.

Sillyname63 · 28/05/2025 20:38

I seen a post about this on GN, the lady had commented that she thought he had given permission for the doors of the plane to be opened before Brigette had put her wig back on. She was slated , GN's told her she was nasty for suggesting she wore a wig, to me I think her hair is so obviously a wig, it doesn't move, then it went on to say about the possibility of him being Gay/ or being a ladies man. As if that made a difference to anything. No body actually mentioned hitting anybody like that is a no no, whether it is a man or a women doing the hitting.

My mistake, I thought she was older.

I imagine most women over 70 get through life without assaulting their husbands, why bring the Princess Royal into it?

Well just a few posts ago you were the one saying it ‘wasn’t a stretch’ to think she was fed up of life in the public eye as you were a similar age to her and that’s how you’d feel.

zenas · 28/05/2025 20:57

Thread is nearly done now, so get the last comments in quick!

It was an awful sight, and very humiliating and embarrassing for Macron. It doesn't matter whether or not there was a reason, it was bang out of order, especially when we see the gossip and global interest taking great delight in it for the most part, without any comment on DV of course.

Nant90 · 28/05/2025 20:58

No idea what GN is, but why on earth would Macron want the doors to open before she had her wig on I wonder?

YourSignalFadedIntoAnotherWorld · 28/05/2025 18:32

In an interview, to prove how much she loved him, when his parents told her to stay away from their son, she said, "I can't promise anything".

It doesn't prove her love. It proves she is an arrogant nonce with an agenda.

Also perhaps someone who isn't accustomed to being told no, and who doesn't feel that normal expectations should apply to her

Arraminta · 28/05/2025 21:14

You'd think being married to the President of France would mean she could afford better wigs? Her wigs look like they're 100% nylon!

  1. She was an example of someone in public life, of a certain age, managing to carry out public duties without assaulting her husband.
  2. Various excuses have been made for Mme Macron's vile behaviour, such as the stress of an older woman doing public duties.
  3. Yes; most women - and men- do not assault people. Mme Macron should follow suit.

She's a bully? She gets away with it? People excuse her?
Who knows. Certainly a lot of the latter on here.

MarkingBad · 28/05/2025 18:31

That's unnecessary

It’s not. It’s a valid point and highlights the nonsense that is so called lip readers being wheeled out at every opportunity to report on what people are supposedly saying when we’re not party to their conversation.

Empress13 · 29/05/2025 05:45

Quite shocking. Their relationship has always been odd she met him when he was only 15 and she was a lot older

She went to the hospitals which she wasn't scheduled to do. Obviously difficult visits and clearly travel involved if the hospital isn't nextdoor to a ship.

Give the woman credit, she was entirely appropriate when something was added to her schedule which is what most people would expect but still appreciate.

EMMANUEL MACRON mocked the “shoving” incident with his wife Brigitte as he arrived in Indonesia yesterday.

The French president stuck one hand out for the cameras, performing a tongue-in-cheek wave, before appearing at the top of the stairs, laughing.

Instead of a shove, after a few seconds of suspense, Mrs Macron appeared, all smiles. The couple then locked arms, Mr Macron gave a thumbs up, and they descended the stairs side-by-side to greet officials.

The departure was deliberately staged to make light of Monday’s apparent squabble, sources said.
