has anyone seen this on the news?! What do we all think, it’s all a bit bizarre

I saw it. No way is that banter of them or joking around as per the French government statement.

We don’t know what lead up to it. Eg if he pushed her first. But if it was the other way around he would be under pressure to resign. Absolutely shocking.

MerryPortas · 26/05/2025 12:41

It does not look like banter at all.

Nailsea · 26/05/2025 12:41

Doesn’t seem to be on the bbc yet though!

WinterMorn · 26/05/2025 12:43

What’s this? Do you have a link?

sprigatito · 26/05/2025 12:43

I saw it earlier. It’s quite shocking.

Hedwigowl · 26/05/2025 12:44

It looks to me like a mum desperately trying to rub marmite off their son's face before he runs off into school rather than a slap.

Agreed. Thank you Stressed for the link. I’m very sure if this was EM as the aggressor we would all be demanding his arrest.

zenas · 26/05/2025 12:48

There's smoke out there about the pair of them. Someone turned someone's head I reckon, not sure if male or female though. Classic French crime passionel, although quite short of murder in this instance.

TokyoSushi · 26/05/2025 12:50

Gosh, I’m not sure what that is, could be rubbing something off his face, could be full on shoving him, just goes to show that you never really know what goes on.

Figcherry · 26/05/2025 12:53

He’s holding her arms so trying to stop her.
She’s 72 so I feel sure someone will suggest she has Alzheimer’s.

zenas · 26/05/2025 12:53

That's a full on shove, he moves backwards and looks a bit shocked. But it could be a bit of confiture on the chin or croissant crumbs. Unlikely. She is mad about something for sure.

SidekickSylvia · 26/05/2025 12:58

It's such an odd relationship. Not the age gap so much, but the circumstances around the way they met (teenager/40 Yr old married teacher). If the relationship is abusive, it wouldn't surprise me.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 26/05/2025 13:04

It's quite a shocking clip, and hard to see it as anything other than her going for him tbh.

If they are in an abusive relationship, I can't see that having that played out in front of the world's media is going to be helpful to anyone. Especially as we don't have all of the facts.

Westfacing · 26/05/2025 13:04

Oh, dear it doesn't look good - that's quite a shove.

I feel a bit sick really as it reminds me of when my ex used to shove my face in that aggressive humiliating way, out of sight of others.

I hope further footage comes out that shows it was playing around and affectionate but I fear not.

It looks to me like someone violently shoving someone in the face.

NOTANUM · 26/05/2025 13:08

Imagine if this was an older man pushing his wife in the face. It’s quite shocking.

I mean he was a teenager and she was his teacher in her 40s. There is no way this relationship isn’t unhealthy.

Oh don’t start.

bridgetreilly · 26/05/2025 13:18

Married couple have a row shocker! I really don’t think we know anything about wha5 this does or doesn’t imply about their relationship. It wasn’t a punch.

copi1ot · 26/05/2025 13:19

God, I felt really uncomfortable watching that. I can't imagine many men would be ok with it being so public.
