Genevie82 · 26/05/2025 13:23

Yes, never acceptable or classy behaviour lashing out. However I’d say looks very much like she’s just found out he’s got a mistress.

Mistress?

zenas · 26/05/2025 13:53

I wonder if Marine Le Pen will make any comment. Or indeed will anyone in France publicly to condemn it.

The spin is happening already though, they were just playfully messing around it seems.

Hedwigowl · 26/05/2025 12:44

It looks to me like a mum desperately trying to rub marmite off their son's face before he runs off into school rather than a slap.

It was a hit and you can see he was upset by it.

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:54

wow some ageist and misogynistic comments

SalfordQuays · 26/05/2025 13:54

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:51

I’m sure no other couples in the public eye have ever had a row - reaaaaaly shocking -not

@Toootss all couples argue but it’s not considered normal to hit someone in the face when you row with them.

JoshLymanSwagger · 26/05/2025 13:55

This^

The fact that she has 2 kids older than him...

Maybe he hit her first

Did you manage to keep a straight face when you typed that?

SalfordQuays · 26/05/2025 13:56

If it had been his hand and her face, this thread would be very different.

You don't find domestic violence shocking? I'm very sorry to hear that. It should never be normalised.

knittasgonna · 26/05/2025 13:57

I'm disturbed by the rush to defend this woman. If it were the other way around, would you be so desperate to make excuses?

SalfordQuays · 26/05/2025 13:57

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:55

Maybe he hit her first

Maybe he did. And if so, he was wrong too. But to imply that this is normal behaviour for couples having a tiff is very strange.

sandrapinchedmysandwich · 26/05/2025 13:57

bridgetreilly · 26/05/2025 13:18

Married couple have a row shocker! I really don’t think we know anything about wha5 this does or doesn’t imply about their relationship. It wasn’t a punch.

Oh that's ok then. As long as it wasn't a punch 🙄

Muffinmam · 26/05/2025 13:57

It was clearly assault - it was a smack to his jaw and she had to reach up to do it.

We need to call it what it is:

Domestic violence

TinyTempest · 26/05/2025 13:57

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:54

wow some ageist and misogynistic comments

And yet you're minimizing domestic violence by putting it down to 'couples having a row'.

I do hope you're never called for jury service.

Muffinmam · 26/05/2025 13:58

WinSomeandLoseSome · 26/05/2025 13:53

Mistress?

I hope he does have a mistress. He needs to leave that haggard old woman who groomed him as a minor.

TheignT · 26/05/2025 13:58

Figcherry · 26/05/2025 12:53

He’s holding her arms so trying to stop her.
She’s 72 so I feel sure someone will suggest she has Alzheimer’s.

I was thinking if it was any other couple it would immediately be put down to dementia.

Muffinmam · 26/05/2025 13:59

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:55

Maybe he hit her first

We saw her hit him.

SillyVanillaBilly · 26/05/2025 13:59

I'm feeling very sorry for him

Not sure what worse, her smacking him or her having a relationship with a man younger than her own kids.

Let's hope macron can free himself and get rid of that nasty person.

How many years has he left in his role as head of state?

TheignT · 26/05/2025 14:00

Toootss · 26/05/2025 13:55

Maybe he hit her first

Hard for some to accept the man isn't always the one in the wrong.

SillyVanillaBilly · 26/05/2025 14:00

Fucking Hell.

Muffinmam · 26/05/2025 13:58

From what I’ve heard it’s unlikely to be a mistress.

OvaHere · 26/05/2025 14:00

If she's done this so close to an open plane door with cameras everywhere then she's very comfortable with this level of casual violence. It's not going to be the first time is it?

TinyTempest · 26/05/2025 14:00

knittasgonna · 26/05/2025 13:57

Are you new to Mumsnet?

There are always vile posts excusing female violence.

Some people tie themselves into a pretzel making excuses for it.
