So many of you say this stuff is amazing so my partner got us some to try. Soooo what's the best way to eat it? On toast with avocado, or straight out the pot with a ladle?!

With chopped cucumber and chives for me, or prawns and a bit of Marie Rose sauce 😋

Doggymummar · 11/05/2025 21:33

I had a whole pot on top of spaghetti bol tonight

merryandbrightdelight · 11/05/2025 21:33

The one with pineapple is amazing straight out of the pot or on a hot jacket potato with butter and pepper!

Also it makes a delicious tasting omelette!

worcesterpear · 11/05/2025 21:37

The only way I eat it is with a jacket potato - it's to do with the contrast between hot and cold. You also need butter and I have grated cheddar as well for variety. Butter, cheddar, cottage cheese, then cheddar again, also with black pepper.

They used to sell it in Home Bargains and was only £1.39

Then they stopped and I can’t find anywhere which sells it cheaper than £1.70 a pot.

I love it on sesame ryvita with baby toms. But also jacket potatoes, salads etc.

i buy the cheap own brand stuff to make the Jamie Oliver sweet potato muffins

Our poundland does it for £1.25 per pot. They stock the full.fat plain and the full fat chives ones.

Hattieandcake · 11/05/2025 21:40

Where do you buy it from?

treacledan71 · 11/05/2025 21:40

I use mine for crustless quiche.

Toast , honey cottage cheese and sea salt

Ok this sounds interesting..... I may have to give it a try!

I only have it on a jacket potato. Plenty of butter and salt on the potato, pile on the cottage cheese and top with chopped spring onions.

Morrisons sells it for those asking where to get it from. And agree with a PP that their hazelnut yoghurt is fab.

Hails1701 · 11/05/2025 21:43

Straight out of the tub with Pringles.

Or on a jacket potato

Wallabyone · 11/05/2025 21:43

I love this…I have it often with chopped fruit for lunch: strawberries, grapes, melon, pineapple.
It’s also good with smoked salmon on toast.

ChloeCannotCanCan · 11/05/2025 21:44

You need the full fat stuff with chives. I just eat it straight out of the pot with a spoon!

Crikeyalmighty · 11/05/2025 21:44

@Pedallleur ah I know holmfirth very well - never knew they were based there.

IlovetoKnitandRead · 11/05/2025 21:44

I love it for breakfast with a chopped up pear, walnuts and a drizzle of honey!

Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 11/05/2025 21:47

Jacket potato and beetroot.

TheCurious0range · 11/05/2025 21:48

I love it on a baked sweet potato, rub the skin with salt pepper olive oil and chilli flakes before baking, top with the cottage cheese after, it's everything; salty, sweet, spicy, creamy, acidic, crunchy, soft, hot and cold.

Pedallleur · 11/05/2025 21:48

On the hill going to Dunford Bridge. On the right about 3 miles from Holmfirth. Don't think they have visiting.

Treadlightlyonmysoul · 11/05/2025 21:50

Their yoghurt is the only yoghurt that tastes like yoghurt. Everyone else’s is far too sweet and synthetic.

TheChosenTwo · 11/05/2025 21:50

I’ve never eaten it before, my mum used to have some in the fridge with chopped up bits of pineapple or something in it? 🤢
not sure if it’s meant to be sweet or savoury! Is it anything like cheese? What doesn’t actually taste like and what’s it similar in texture to?

InfoSecInTheCity · 11/05/2025 21:52

I have found it in Morrisons, Iceland, Asda and home bargains

It can be sweet or savoury. In much the same way cream cheese can. I think the Longley Farm one is the best introduction to cottage cheese because it's thicker and has a much nicer texture. It doesn't have a strong taste, it mainly tastes creamy and cool to me! Try it on a jacket potato first.

MotherWol · 11/05/2025 22:06

It’s so nice on toasted rye bread; either the Biona one from the health food shop or Lidl do a pumpernickel rye. Just that with salt and pepper is a lovely breakfast!

StMarie4me · 11/05/2025 22:07

Been buying it since 1986!

SwanOfThoseThings · 11/05/2025 22:07

On a jacket potato with cold baked beans. Put the beans on top of the cheese, with a blob of pickle, not underneath, so they don't warm up and ruin the effect.

I use it to make syrniki (Ukrainian/Russian pancakes)
