I feel so bad because my boyfriend keeps letting himself into my place when I don’t expect him to be there and finding that I have left my flat in a real state
Embarrasingly so
he wasn’t meant to come until Monday
dreading going home as he will be so unpleasant

my desk at work is also disgusting and full of things now I can’t hide them in the drawers

If I was you I'd take the key back. It's your home and how you keep your home is not for his judgement. You should never dread coming home, it's clear you' re not happy.He should be grateful that you're caring for his dog, I'd be inclined to tell him that if you didn't have his pet to care for then you'd be able to spend that time tidying/cleaning.
