A) You are Hungry.

B) You know if you don’t eat first thing, you will be hungry later in the Morning?

I have usually been up for about an hour before I eat breakfast - I tend to deal with the pets, do the morning jobs and a short workout and then have breakfast. I am not particularly hungry but eat then to avoid snacking before lunch.

DUsername · 16/04/2025 08:06

Very much A. I am naturally hungry in the first half of the day. Always have been.

andtheworldrollson · 16/04/2025 08:06

B

fruitpastille · 16/04/2025 08:07

Mostly B but I'm hungry enough to enjoy it. I need something by 9 and I usually start work before then so I need to eat earlier.

MignonsMorceaux · 16/04/2025 08:07

Ideally I'd be up for an hour before eating - but in recent years I've had to eat first thing or it won't happen due to needing to be out and I'll be starving.
Since getting into that habit of eating first thing, I find I am usually hungry now anyway!

sunshineandshowers40 · 16/04/2025 08:10

I don't eat breakfast as I am never hungry at that time.

highlandsake · 16/04/2025 08:14

@sunshineandshowers40I’m exactly the same, but have recently started having breakfast as I get really hungry around 11! But it feels bizarre to eat when I’m not actually hungry.

I don’t eat breakfast and generally don’t eat anything until after work at 2.30ish.

I don't eat breakfast because I'm not hungry then. I usually am a bit hungry about 10.30-11 so I have a banana. I figure it's better to eat something small when I'm actually hungry than making myself eat when I'm not.

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/04/2025 08:24

I have my main meal at lunchtime & a snack around 5pm, so I always wake up hungry for breakfast.

Sofiewoo · 16/04/2025 08:24

Neither, don’t eat breakfast.

dudsville · 16/04/2025 08:28

On work days, I may eat something because I may not have time later, but I don't wake up hungry so this is usually something small. On days off, I tend to eat a few hours after I wake up once I've got hungry. Generally, I don't eat unless I'm hungry, and on work days this just means ensuring I have things to hand that I can eat between meetings or whilst doing admin.

Gundogday · 16/04/2025 08:30

Both, plus if I don’t i’ll pass out by mid morning, plus it’s also a habit

Fgdvevfvdvfbdv · 16/04/2025 08:30

For me it’s B, but also just because I think I should have breakfast because it’s what everyone else does. I’m never hungry first thing and struggle to eat my breakfast, I don’t know why I don’t just skip it!

WaltzingWaters · 16/04/2025 08:32

Both. I eat breakfast (often after a workout) in the morning. I’m still usually then hungry by about 11am!

Lovelynames123 · 16/04/2025 08:33

When I'm at work I start at 5am and often don't eat til lunchtime, but I work in hospitality so can grab something whenever I'm hungry.

I'm off this week and had breakfast about half an hour after waking because I felt hungry.

If I know I'm going somewhere without easy access to a loo I make sure to have something to eat otherwise the coffees I drink go straight through me😂

Somethingthecatdraggedin7 · 16/04/2025 08:34

Neither. I am not hungry until lunchtime and I find if I force myself to eat breakfast (horrible) then it makes no difference to feeling hungry at lunchtime anyway. Eating breakfast would just increase my overall daily calories which is not what I need at all.
I think the idea that you must eat breakfast is one of many myths about dieting.

Crunchymum · 16/04/2025 08:36

I eat my breakfast late (about 11am and I'm up at between 6am / 7am everyday).

I just don't feel hungry before then.

If I'm out for the day or travelling or in a position I won't be able to eat at 11ish then I'll have a slice of toast.

Kids always eat breakfast, 2 wake hungry and eat immediately and one is like me (I let her eat later but I always make sure she has something before school)

NotMyCircusNotMyProblem · 16/04/2025 08:38

I’m up at 5:30 then straight to the yard to sort out my horses (turn out, muck out) before walking my dogs. Home for 7:30 and I am hungry and ready for breakfast.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/04/2025 08:49

I don’t usually eat breakfast, I’m not hungry then and I’d I eat anything carby I’ll probably feel hungry sooner than otherwise. I find a milky coffee mid morning nicely bridges the gap till lunchtime.
The exception is if I’m on holiday and about to do a lot of walking, whether that’s countryside or town sightseeing. Eating as fuel if you’re about to be active makes sense; eating if you’re going to be sedentary and aren’t hungry then your body really has nothing to do with it except store it as fat.

‘everyone else’ doesn’t do it! Maybe experiment changing your eating pattern? But in a deliberate way, not ‘skipping breakfast’ - what’s not good is doing that and then finding yourself tempted by a muffin or suchlike crap mid morning.

mamaduckbone · 16/04/2025 08:56

Before work it's B, because I have to leave the house at 7.15am. If I didn't eat I would be starving by 8.

At the weekend / when not at work it's A - I do need breakfast. Definitely couldn't do the intermittent fasting thing as I feel really sick if I don't eat in the morning.

vincettenoir · 16/04/2025 08:57

I used to wake up hungry. I’d eat breakfast and be hungry an hour later. I skip breakfast now and my body has got used to it.

yomellamoHelly · 16/04/2025 09:00

B. Generally don't have time to then eat later (except weekends and holidays), so need to eat when possible.

What’s wrong with just eating when you’re hungry though?
