I know that there are several threads about him, but I’ve watched the interview again today. I don’t know what’s made me feel more sad - how exhausted and disappointed he looked, the fact that English isn’t his first language and it must have been hard to speak, let alone speak whilst being verbally attacked, or the suit question. When the war is over, I want to buy that man the best suit money can buy! How can anyone kick someone when they are so down anyway.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but as far as I'm aware US help was given with no strings attached- a change of regime doesn't mean you can retrospectively make demands- it's like your mother buying you a house outright, no strings attached - she remarries and your stepdad starts asking when you are going to start paying her back for it.

The USA help was in the form of paying their own arms industry to provide weapons.

So a huge payment to their own companies, employees and shareholders, which certainly benefited Ukraine, but also the USA arms industry

@Baital yep - it's why Trump is completely disingenuous when he keeps mentioning 'loans' - a loan has formal and agreed conditions and terms to payback - none of which as far as I'm aware applied here - Trump can't retrospectively apply terms - he can simply negotiate a forthwards 'deal' that is of mutual satisfaction if it aids peace.it can't simply be 'hey we will take xyz ' to payback what you have had so far.

He was in his battle outfit and to ask him why he wasn't wearing a suit was unfair. He will likely wear a suit when they have victory.

I think a long, cold beer would be better... Look at those in suits... How does a suit make someone better? After the vitriol this man had yo put up with in a publicity stunt, that seems to have backfired on Mr Orange Face and friends, I'll settle with buying him a beer. Oh, and if I can help in any way to save Ukraine from that dastardly short man... I'm happy to help.

I honestly don't think Zelensky was humiliated. I think Trump and his sidekick humiliated themselves. The man is a war hero. Unfortunately, at the moment,the bullies are on the rise but they come undone in the end. It just horrifies me that so many US voters don't see Trump for what he is, a man with the limited intellect of a playground bully and the motivations of a mafioso extortionist.

Imagine how tired and frustrated he is.
He didn't shout or loose his temper and the way he said "i know" when they said your country is in big trouble.
He also made some remarks about the suit the guy was wearing who made the comment. The guy that made the comment looked dreadful!!

Even trump said he thought zelensky looked good. Unfortunately I think they sounded and looked like gangstas, talking about suits and looking good and respect and showing thanks.
In fact isn't that the opening of the godfather, showing respect coming here aksing me for a favour?

I read the DM quite a bit as light-hearted gossip kind of stuff, but I was shocked to see comments on an article about this NOT being overwhelmingly in support of Zelensky. To me what happened this week, the sheer unprofessionalism of attacking what he was wearing, talking over him and each other, was shocking. Russia INVADED Ukraine, of course Ukraine don't want a war and they want it to end, (why would anyone think they do want a war, that part was what really shocked me in the comments?!), but not on such terrible terms that it feels like they've lost. I knew Trump was dangerous but until this week I didn't really appreciate just how dangerous. He's a madman.

I don’t think that meeting was the time and place for Zelensky to start lecturing Trump and Vance. He called Vance, JD, which was very disrespectful. Trump ribbed him about his attire when he greeted him but it was a journalist who brought it up in the meeting. Zelinsky was there to sign the mineral agreement and he should have stuck to that and discussed other concerns privately. It was Trump and Vance who were ambushed

This is how I saw it too. You go ask for money, you show respect. Zelensky was entitled and disrespectful.

Because it is propaganda. Russian/Chinese/Iranian/N Koreans posting propaganda to weaken and destabilize the West generally; Russians posting to weaken support for Ukraine. You must call it out. Engaging allows it to continue. Call it what it is.

I agree. It was hard to watch. The guy has been spending his life under bombardment from real life ending russian bombs. Last thing he needs to bother about is what he's wearing. That reporter maybe needs giving an assignment to a war zone
