Zelensky - feeling quite sad

Bakewelltart1 · 01/03/2025 20:18

I know that there are several threads about him, but I’ve watched the interview again today.
I don’t know what’s made me feel more sad - how exhausted and disappointed he looked, the fact that English isn’t his first language and it must have been hard to speak, let alone speak whilst being verbally attacked, or the suit question.
When the war is over, I want to buy that man the best suit money can buy!
How can anyone kick someone when they are so down anyway.

My mother went to the doctor who told her she can only address one ailment and she had 20 minutes to do so. She is 80. It’s laughable and you think this is acceptable health care.

If you’re talking about the NHS, I am not going to deny that it has problems but many European countries have far superior healthcare systems to both the U.S. and the UK. Don’t fall into the trap of believing that the NHS is the only alternative.

My GP has that system, it's quite common.

If I want to see a Dr that day I only get 15 - 20 mins to discuss an acute condition. If I want to discuss more than one then I need to prebook a longer appointment.

I can also book to see a nurse or HCA.

I went for an annual blood test, two days later the local pharmacist arrived with new prescription drugs and I got a text asking me to book 5 weekly appointments with HCA for injections.

I checked my results online.

Let’s come back to this in 4 years time and see where things stand then. If Trump has been an abject failure then I will prostrate myself before your superior political foresight.

He is already an abject failure. He has done more damage to the US in just a few weeks than any other president in my lifetime. Maybe even in history.

China and Russia probably can't believe their luck! I don't suppose that they ever imagined even in their wildest dreams that the US would start to self implode like this. And so quickly at that.

Anyway, see you in 4 years. If we haven't all been nuked by that stage.

Well, Sir Keir just pledged £2.26 billion to Zelenskyy of support. It is a loan guaranteed by frozen Russian assets. I am grinning ear to ear. Thank you Sir Keir for doing the decent thing which Trump is incapable of. Just reported by the BBC. Let’s hope a European alliance drives back Putin and makes the USA irrelevant and Trump is held to account for the nasty piece of work he is.

A loan? So the UK will not have really paid a cent.

I wonder how that is different from the USA? Let me think.... eyeroll

I mean one was guaranteed by Ukrainian minerals and one by Russian assets.
But Trump is getting his minerals anyway just from Russia.

Zelensky is the only one to stand up to that bullying, slimy, orange cunt. Genuinely couldn’t love him more

Never underestimate the little man

Please don’t call that orange nightmare a cunt.
for they are deep, beautiful, warm welcoming places, that are givers of life; that absolute fucking prick is none of the above.

Perhaps he didn’t have insurance

Even if he did - 25k per day plus is such a large amount. Even if insurance is paying - I would bet somewhere that figure is loaded and ultimately you’re all paying through ever inflated premiums.

This is a joke right ? No one has to wait 4 years. Trump and his dog Vance couldn’t get any lower. The Democrats are a mess but it’s clear no adults are left in the White House now. There is no decency.

It's not only acceptable.. it's free
We are so lucky to have the NHS

You obviously have DTS and are not seeing this objectively. His administration has gotten off to a tremendous start for the American people and people are happy with what he has accomplished so far. I think the meeting on Friday couple have been handled better all round but on the whole Trump is delivering for America as he was elected to do.

You represent the party well. Gold star for you. 👍

DriftDaisy · 02/03/2025 06:10

I think what upsets me most is the bullies have won.

That is you have enough money, you can do want you want.
You can rewrite the law and have everything your way.
Money is the root of all evil.

But this isn’t just about Trump. I think we all have some responsibility. We - as humans - have created this monster. Humans have voted him in, humans have lined their pockets and given him this power.

I'm sorry, but how much has the USA gotten back from Ukraine?

All I ever hear here is "giving", with zero quid pro quo. I hope we are getting something back for the hundreds of billions we have given. I won't hold my breath though.

DriftDaisy · 02/03/2025 06:12

@AnnoyedAsAllHeck

So should it be about money or morality?

DriftDaisy · 02/03/2025 06:16

If Scotland had a resource that Russia wanted, we should just hand the land over? Do you think Trump would let Russia take Alaska?

AnnoyedAsAllHeck · 02/03/2025 06:19

My now exh fell ill when in the US

He was taken to the hospital where he spent about 10 days in hospital billed for £256,000

How is that acceptable

How much would my bill be if I was in the hospital for ten days after an injury?

I bet someone will say, "you need to have travel insurance". Yes, and I would. Your ex should have had it also.

Of course, costs here are high. Our nurses are paid quite well, as are our doctors, OR workers, ER workers, lab and x-ray staff and compared to the UK, even support staff. That all costs money. We also pay so much more for medicine, which I think sucks because other countries get them cheap, yet we developed the medicines.

The very, very worse thing in this country is medical helicopter. If a trauma center sends theirs, it's not bad and usually covered by insurance but if they are already out, without your permission, they will send a private med helo company and even after insurance, the bill can be 30K or more. That should be illegal.

Buy him a suit?You're joking aren't you? Zelensky is worth millions,I'm sure he can afford his own suits.

Oh, a bit of both. Feel free to get back to me when the UK GIVES Ukraine 50B and tells them, "Hey, no need to pay us back or guarantee the loan." It's a gift. We'll manage.

But, he cannot look like a millionaire to the world.

And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,"

DriftDaisy · 02/03/2025 06:29

@AnnoyedAsAllHeck

The Ukrainian people have put Zelensky as their leader because they want to stay Ukrainian. That’s what the majority want.
Giving Putin the ‘gift’ he wants is far more damaging.

Your “it’s a gift, we’ll manage” do you think Ukraine should take that stance with their land?

Money v’s such an appalling moral consequence.

Morality should win.

No not literally 🙄. It was just a show of support. Of course he can afford it, and everyone knows why he wasn’t wearing one.

Zelensky dresses the way he does to show unity with his country, the people who voted him in.
He is fighting with them and they are at war.

DriftDaisy · 02/03/2025 06:39

I’m just trying to see Trump in combat gear if America was at war.
No, he’d be hunkering down in a gold plated bunker with all him chums. Wearing a suit.

Ffs he avoided the Vietnam draft because of ‘bone spurs’.
