Zelensky - feeling quite sad

Bakewelltart1 · 01/03/2025 20:18

I know that there are several threads about him, but I’ve watched the interview again today.
I don’t know what’s made me feel more sad - how exhausted and disappointed he looked, the fact that English isn’t his first language and it must have been hard to speak, let alone speak whilst being verbally attacked, or the suit question.
When the war is over, I want to buy that man the best suit money can buy!
How can anyone kick someone when they are so down anyway.

America needs to retain it’s global lead in technology and not let hostile countries have overriding access to theses important minerals. Your thinking is very short sighted

But after the embarrassing display that Trump and Vance put on it is the US that is the hostile country. Have they forgotten where these minerals are and if they need them so badly then diplomacy was the way to go. Not shouting at the person who holds the key to access these mines

Not everything belongs to the US nor does the US have rights over other countries.

If America chooses to support Russia invading Ukraine together with the tariffs it is putting on imported goods etc then it is heading for isolation from the rest of the world with its only ally’s being communist dictatorships. I wonder how long it will be before you see Trump doing a deal over Alaska and Russia amassing troops on the Canadian borders

I think a lot of Americans don’t realise that their once great nation has fallen so far behind the rest of the world that it is only them who think they are still the greatest

Other nations look after their citizens health for free or at least a very nominal amount. No one is going to go bankrupt over an unexpected accident or illness. We also don’t need to carry guns for protection. We have moved on from the Wild West.

Maybe American citizens should force their government to do the same.

No one wants socialized healthcare when you can’t get an appointment to see a doctor or dentist.

@Molly70 Trump has never been convicted of rape in a criminal court.

So you think that means he's a great guy - the guy that just grabs pussy when he wants? - , even though he was found guilty in a civil court and ordered to pay millions in damages. But whatev. You obviously think the sun shines out of Donald's anus. I'm sure there are many women lining up to lick it.

I never said he was a great guy but when you are accused of something so egregious as rape or murder then it needs to be presented in a criminal court and sentenced accordingly if found guilty. The criminal court has a much higher burden of proof as it should have.

Lampzade · 02/03/2025 03:36

To think that people actually voted for Trump.
Shocking

It is a drop in the bucket, yes. But if it helps galvanise the Europeans into action, then that is really good. The special relationship between the UK and the USA is over with, at least when Trump is in power. We’ll see what happens at the European summit. It is going to take some concerted effort and coordination to stand against Putin, but it is in Europe’s self interest to defend itself against him.

Trump is showing his true colours to the world for sure…. America is going to be very isolated indeed.

Yep.

With Canada considering turning off the electricity supply and applying tariffs, I watched something this morning on YouTube so I don't know how accurate estimate that Canadian tariffs will double the price of a Tesla.

Doesn’t that answer just prove my point that America is completely out of step with the rest of the western world

We can get an appointment. It might not be immediately (unless it is urgent or you can by pass the doctors and go straight to A&E)

However as it is all free at the point of need we don’t have people not booking an appointment because they can’t afford to

My mother went to the doctor who told her she can only address one ailment and she had 20 minutes to do so. She is 80. It’s laughable and you think this is acceptable health care.

As far as I am aware these are not being cut.

Sure about that?
What else do you suggest?

LuckyPeonies · 02/03/2025 03:45

@Molly70 You live in the US, yes?

MN is (obviously) a European forum, with members from various European countries. People who can look at the US and its ‘leadership’ in an unbiased way, because they neither live here nor vote here. Does the fact that most Europeans are horrified by trump not give you any pause at all? Surely you can’t believe that all those people are dems who hate trump.

There is growing US and world wide opposition to trump and his policies, and I fervently hope that opposition will bring positive results. Because normal, reasonable people do not want to live in an isolationist dictator-ruled, pariah country.

My now exh fell ill when in the US

He was taken to the hospital where he spent about 10 days in hospital billed for £256,000

How is that acceptable

The good news is that Trump's pig ignorance has led him to economic and other policies that are already hurting his idiot followers. They are already feeling the pain and will feel more. Robbing the poor to feed the rich is not a very smart approach. It's a crying shame the Democrats are so utterly useless.

Tucking Netanyahu in his chair, hosting a civilian like god in the Oval Office with his son wiping his bogies on the table to treating a sovereign county's leader with such despicable behaviour live on TV is absolutely disgusting. I'm not a fan of Zelensky, for his politics, for getting into bed with the wrong guys from the very start and his wife spending thousands in Cartier whilst their fellow citizens have become refugees but no one deserves to be treated with such abhorrent behaviour. Shame on them!

You ought to fact check before spreading false remours you read somewhere.
The Cartier story has been proven as a hoax, as Mr and Mrs Zelensky were in Ottawa visiting the Canadian parliament NOT shopping for jewellery on that day, 22 Sept 23.

Well I think if you are accused of defaming a rape victim you shouldn't hide behind presidential immunity but here we are.
And isn't it actually a good thing that a victim of sexual.assault can choose not to go through a rigorous criminal trial but has other avenues at her disposal?
Though you are assertion is that countless judges and jury members were influenced by the Democratic party? I mean Trump is already hard working on impeaching Judges left right and center so he might even get this verdict overturned in the future so you might as well get what you want...

I think that Molly is just a sad example of how ordinary Americans have been brainwashed and radicalized by their billionaire-funded media (a problem we also have in the UK, but not to seem extreme).

She's also a victim in many ways, albeit not a sympathetic one.

Yeah, fair point. It's hard not to be furious with people like @Molly70, to blame them for the horrific leader that they have inflicted on the world, and to make all sorts of assumptions about their characters and values etc. And in some cases, those assumptions will be absolutely accurate and they really will be despicable human beings who have acted with full understanding and intention. But you're right that many will be victims too - easily manipulated by the people pulling the strings and too ignorant to realise just yet what a horrible mistake they have made. And it will be really hard for them when the reality finally dawns because will have to carry the guilt on top of everything else.

So lying about helping poor people is part of that?
Seems like lying about helping people is kind of Trumps thing isn't it? So giving money to rich people is certainly easier.

Let’s come back to this in 4 years time and see where things stand then. If Trump has been an abject failure then I will prostrate myself before your superior political foresight.
