Zelensky - feeling quite sad

Bakewelltart1 · 01/03/2025 20:18

I know that there are several threads about him, but I’ve watched the interview again today.
I don’t know what’s made me feel more sad - how exhausted and disappointed he looked, the fact that English isn’t his first language and it must have been hard to speak, let alone speak whilst being verbally attacked, or the suit question.
When the war is over, I want to buy that man the best suit money can buy!
How can anyone kick someone when they are so down anyway.

I don't care what time might tell you in your world.Morally he's wrong, no question

Have you been drinking the Fox News kool-aid?

Seriously though, you must have watched a different edit from the rest of us.

Have you watched the full 50 minutes video? Or just the 10 minute clip?

Asking because I felt the same response after watching the 10 min viral video but after watching the full 50 mins I do feel differently about it.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/03/2025 02:04

@Sd352

Don't teach your mother to suck eggs.

I don't venerate Churchill. Unlike Trump. Zelenskyy is very like Churchill; flawed, expedient and great at propaganda. Exactly what Ukraine (and Great Britain) needed. As I said on another thread, "cometh the hour, cometh the man". Both Churchill and Zelenskyy. But not Trump.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/03/2025 02:05

Trump has never been convicted of rape in a criminal court.

Somebody call Hermes. That's a bar so low only he could limbo under it.

kattaduck · 02/03/2025 02:00

Which hostile countries? According to Trump Rusdia is not hostile. So which country are you talking about?

Russia and China

When it comes to politics, the dems have shown that they will try and take Trump out by any means possible. For the average Joe, then things would be different

Oh please, this one is straight out of the MAGA handbook.

Poor, hard done by Trump, convicted felon but only cause the nasty dems were out to get him.

Molly70 · 02/03/2025 02:10

What he says in public is different to what he knows through intelligence reports

sleepwouldbenice · 02/03/2025 02:15

I keep on seeing this have you watched the full thing comment. Yes I have, what's actually your point?

kattaduck · 02/03/2025 02:22

Molly70 · 02/03/2025 02:08

Russia and China

But Trump doesn't see Russia as hostile. In fact he sees Ukraine as one. One starting wars.
So actually you are right. By taking minerals from Ukraine he took minerals from a "hostile" country.

sleepwouldbenice · 02/03/2025 02:23

Molly70 · 02/03/2025 02:10

So what you are saying is that the democratic party influenced the jury in a jury trial?
Isn't Trump the one who says he is above the law?

OneLemonDog · 02/03/2025 02:26

I think that Molly is just a sad example of how ordinary Americans have been brainwashed and radicalized by their billionaire-funded media (a problem we also have in the UK, but not to seem extreme).

She's also a victim in many ways, albeit not a sympathetic one.

I don’t think that meeting was the time and place for Zelensky to start lecturing Trump and Vance. He called Vance, JD, which was very disrespectful. Trump ribbed him about his attire when he greeted him but it was a journalist who brought it up in the meeting. Zelinsky was there to sign the mineral agreement and he should have stuck to that and discussed other concerns privately. It was Trump and Vance who were ambushed

Were you watching the Russian version

Aecare · 02/03/2025 00:06

I don’t feel sorry for him at all. He didn’t realise his country now is just a small piece on the chess board which is going to be sacrificed by player for better position / or even worse — a dish on the table to be shared between American and Russian( Europe is not invited although they participated in cooking ). When you are a neighbour to a country like Russia, and you are warned not to join NATO, why would you be so naive to think America will help you? Canada didn’t threaten an actual war nor did he turn to Russia, when America started a trade war.Be realistic!

He does know that his country is a small piece on the "chess board"; he says as much in the recent meeting with Trump. He didn't ask for any of this; Russia invaded Ukraine. He's supposed to say "Oh hey oh - small country; totally OK if Russia invades and tortures people and runs a mass rape campaign, LOL!"

When you are a neighbour to a country like Russia, and you are warned not to join NATO... warned by whom? On what authority? NATO's charter says that any country which shares its goals may apply to join and will be considered, subject to meeting the membership criteria. Norway (original founding member, 1949), Turkey (1952), Poland (1999), Estonia (2004), Latvia (2004), Lithuania (2004), and Finland (2023) all have land borders with Russia and are all NATO members. (Should these countries also be invaded and all their people raped and killed?) Ukraine has NOT joined NATO, and in fact Zelenskyy has said he would be willing to sign a binding agreement (in the accepted and legal diplomatic sense, not in the new US "Lulz! Ha ha, stupids thought we'd abide by a formal international treaty!!" sense) that Ukraine will never join NATO as part of negotiations to end the current war.

... why would you be so naive to think America will help you? I guess you think it's stupid for anyone to believe that the USA would abide by the Budapest Memorandum? I mean, it's just an international agreement - who cares? Let's make as much money as we can for Musk and maybe Trump right now, and fuck everybody else and any consequences, right? That's the American way, right?

I've seen a lot of fucking anti-Americanism on this site, but your post is right up there with the worst of it.

(Edited because I forgot that Lithuania borders Russia via Kaliningrad.)

Maybe Trump and Vance were set up when Zelenskyy went off on one

He could hardly get a word in between the shouting. He deliberately kept his voice at a normal volume level.

Molly70 · 02/03/2025 02:55

sleepwouldbenice · 02/03/2025 02:23

This makes no sense

Of course it does. He’s not going to publicly demonize Putin if he wants to bring him to the negotiating table. Biden calling him names just antagonizes him which probably feels good but doesn’t stop the killing,

Nobody is cutting aid to the poorest and the abortion issue is a decision taken at state level. Where I live, you can have an abortion up to 23 weeks. If people don’t like abortion rights in their states they need to elect state representatives that align with their views. Trump has never been convicted of rape in a criminal court.

So slashing Medicate and Medicaid, which he denied he’d do, isn’t going to affect the poorest?
And how about SNAP? Tell us how that won’t affect the poorest? How many children will suffer these cuts? We all know who will be affected the most and maybe that’s why it seems to be acceptable 🤷‍♀️

Targeting the poor and the vulnerable to ensure the richest of the rich are rewarded via tax cuts is what exactly?

As far as I am aware these are not being cut.

It is funny. Ukraine is not the same as other NATO members to Russia and you can google it. Russia has warned Ukraine not to join in NATO for many years. I think the first one I read on news was more than 15 years ago. And I read Russian made a few announcements and did a few negotiations in December or November 2021. One of the most important thing is that Russia wants Ukraine to promise it will never join in NATO. And American said the requirements were not acceptable and Russia decided to start the war.
America in my opinion, is even worse than you say. They are just robbers and make money out from wars. Europe are his minions. The difference between America and Russia is that ,Russia doesn’t pretend they are good, but American do.

Yalta · 02/03/2025 03:27

America needs to retain it’s global lead in technology and not let hostile countries have overriding access to theses important minerals. Your thinking is very short sighted

But after the embarrassing display that Trump and Vance put on it is the US that is the hostile country. Have they forgotten where these minerals are and if they need them so badly then diplomacy was the way to go. Not shouting at the person who holds the key to access these mines

Not everything belongs to the US nor does the US have rights over other countries.

If America chooses to support Russia invading Ukraine together with the tariffs it is putting on imported goods etc then it is heading for isolation from the rest of the world with its only ally’s being communist dictatorships. I wonder how long it will be before you see Trump doing a deal over Alaska and Russia amassing troops on the Canadian borders

I think a lot of Americans don’t realise that their once great nation has fallen so far behind the rest of the world that it is only them who think they are still the greatest

Other nations look after their citizens health for free or at least a very nominal amount. No one is going to go bankrupt over an unexpected accident or illness. We also don’t need to carry guns for protection. We have moved on from the Wild West.

Maybe American citizens should force their government to do the same.

RogueFemale · 02/03/2025 03:30

@Molly70 Trump has never been convicted of rape in a criminal court.

So you think that means he's a great guy - the guy that just grabs pussy when he wants? - , even though he was found guilty in a civil court and ordered to pay millions in damages. But whatev. You obviously think the sun shines out of Donald's anus. I'm sure there are many women lining up to lick it.
