....then it has just started on Film 4.

Enemy Mine. About an astronaut and a male alien who collide in space and crash land on a planet. The male alien turns out to be pregnant and they co-exist on some hostile planet or other.

Really shite.

I haven't watched Enemy Mine since I was a kid when I loved it, but everything I've heard since has suggested it was rubbish.

But it's quite an important film to me in one way - it was the first time I realised that the 'bad guys' don't think they're the bad guys. They think they're doing the right thing. And the people acting for 'the bad guys' are not that different from us really. So even if it's a rubbish film I have to credit it with teaching me an important moral lesson!

Howard the Duck…,

When a scientific experiment goes terribly wrong, it invites alien invaders on Earth who start creating mayhem. Howard, a humanoid duck must save the humans from alien invasion.

I once started watching the Lego Movie with my nephew who was about 6 at the time. We got 10 minutes in before he asked if we could watch you tube clips of buildings being demolished instead.

I had to look that up.

No mention of the baguettes, but still sounds awful.

I think the baguette husband also made his living setting fire to his farts.

And if that doesn’t tempt you to watch, I don’t know what will.

Everything this is awesome, everything is good, when your part of a team. Another excellent film.

Staying Alive - the sequel to Saturday Night Fever. Tony decides he wants to make it as a professional dancer but without the awesome soundtrack. Sylvester Stallone directed it which probably tells you everything you need to know.

Edited

No way!! I loved the epic John Travolta solo dance routine right at the end when he and the director yell as Finola Hughes to jump!

Cats - my friend kept nodding off and I had to prod her awake every time. I would’ve left her but for her snoring…

I loved cats, deliciously dumb

offmynut · 01/03/2025 17:31

Jungle book 2018 what shit it was crappy crap crap.
I dont mind the the 1994 one on a rainy day love the cartoon one but only the original movie cartoon not the new crap the have now.

ilovesushi · 01/03/2025 17:33

Life of David Gale. It presents as if it's a serious intelligent drama but it's utter guff and really really boring. Kate Winslet is in it and she's always ace but this film is crap. I saw it at the cinema when it came out 20 plus years ago. I remember writhing in my seat I was so bored. The twist is shit and you just want it to end at that point. I seem to remember a fair bit of it is Kate running around trying to get a phone signal. Basically if she'd got a signal, it could all have been solved straight off. I watch a lot of films and this one stands out as my worst cinema experience ever.

Two words. Bad Santa.

Yep , I walked out of the cinema, gave it a fair 20 minutes.

NewtonsCradle · 01/03/2025 17:34

'Piaffe' a German film where a woman makes horse sound effects and becomes sexually liberated as she grows a horse tail.

'The Room' possibly the worst script ever written. Quotes include:-
"Anyway, how's your sex life?"
"Leave your stupid comments in your pocket!"
"As far as I'm concerned you can drop off the planet, that's a promise!"

NameChangedOfc · 01/03/2025 17:35

I remember very vividly the day I watched "Breathless" by Jean-Luc Godard. I entered the cinema young, wide eyed and blissfully pretentious... What an utter and unsufferable waste of time. When it ended I was convinced (still am) that I had been victim of a psy-op (the nouvelle vague psy-op).

BigFatLiar · 01/03/2025 17:37

If you want dreadful movies try Talking Pictures on Saturday lunchtime. They show old sci-fi movies that probably wouldn't have made the grade as b movies when released.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/03/2025 17:39

I am so glad somebody on MN recommended the Talking Pictures channel a couple of years ago. We have seen all sorts of ancient stuff on there, some dire, some pretty good. Pretty sure that's where Mr Gasp will have seen Prehistoric Women.

Lollygaggle · 01/03/2025 17:40

Ishtar with Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman. The making of it is legendary , the poor female director just lost control. www.avclub.com/ishtar-35th-anniversary-elaine-may-warren-beatty-1848927280

I managed to see the last 10 minutes and I thought it was a home made wedding video . Truely, epically dreadful. Ignore what the review says , this is not a great film , it is an epically bad film but trying to see it is like finding the Holy Grail. It’s out there somewhere but only a select few will ever see it.

The only film I ever walked out of was Taxi with Queen Latifah

She is awful in The Equaliser as well. Should have stayed with singing /rapping Sorry Queen

sunshinechaser · 01/03/2025 17:42

Rubber. The film is about a tyre that comes to life and uses psychokinetic powers to kill people.
Not joking-it's so awful!

Arran2024 · 01/03/2025 17:44

Wall-e is supposed to be a classic but holds cult status in our family as worst film ever. I took my elderly parents and daughters, who were about 7 and 8, to see it. Parents fell asleep. Daughters were bewildered and kept asking to leave. I kept waiting for something amazing to happen to justify the hype. It never came.

PuppyMonkey · 01/03/2025 17:44

Poor Thing and Everything Everywhere All at Once are both far worse than Enemy Mine imho. Don’t know how the hell they won so many oscars. Confused

SunshineAndFizz · 01/03/2025 17:47

JohnTheRevelator · 01/03/2025 17:24

I watched the film 'Men' about a year ago. Wish I hadn't bothered. I'd read great things about. It started off promisingly enough but just degenerated into farce about halfway through.

I came to write 'Men' too. Utterly shite. We could only laugh when the man gives birth to himself, or whatever the heck was going on.

Craftycorvid · 01/03/2025 17:48

I give you ‘Trash Humpers’ - utterly banal and bizarre. DH and I must have gone temporarily mad to think something with a title like that would be worthwhile. We lasted 20 minutes, looked at each other in mutual incomprehension and left.

My contributions will be Hurt locker and all is lost.

Hurt Locker is awesome!

InglouriousBasterd · 01/03/2025 17:49

Babylon. Three hours of my life in a cinema, wanted them back! And I watch anything!
