....then it has just started on Film 4.

Enemy Mine. About an astronaut and a male alien who collide in space and crash land on a planet. The male alien turns out to be pregnant and they co-exist on some hostile planet or other.

Really shite.

August, Osage County, and eat pray love. Though I love Julia Roberts, those are 2 films that I have wasted time watching, when i could have been watching paint dry lol

Oh I remember Eat Pray Love. That was 3 distinct sections, right? Because I think I loved one section and hated the other 2 - but I can't remember which ones.

Does anyone remember a terrible arty film about a young woman hitchhiking, she had a thumb that was about about ten inches long . I've blocked out the rest of the 'plot '

Sounds "wonderful". I can't imagine any men stopped for her. They'd have been jealous of 10 inches lol.

The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover.

I swore never to watch anything else Peter Greenaway made ever and I never did. It was truly horrible

Edited

The only film I've walked out of. Not because it was bad, but the scene with the messenger boy managed to trip my sensibilities and I had to get out.

This was at the Lumiere by St. Martins in London. They had a bar and I had to have a drink ....

I loved the book Even Cowgirls get the Blues so much when I was young that I never watched the film. I believe it's good that I didn't!

It appeared to be 3 sections actually but what I vaguely took in was she was in 3 different places, think started in America then she went to India and then somewhere else she seemed to eat pray and love in each place lol. Oh good grief I may have to watch it again now lol

Forget all the others, I give you . . .

Cop On The Edge IX : Prelude To Justice!

Made in Newport, South Wales, in the early 90s, by a group of film students.

It's a full length "American" gangster movie, set in LA, Mexico and Asia, but filmed entirely on location in Newport.

The accents!
The mean streets of Newport, sorry, LA!
It even had a cinema release!
It's on YouTube . . .

It's awful!

It's brilliant!

No one's mentioned Left Behind yet.

Nicholas Cage
It's about people who get taken up at the rapture. There are people who get left behind.

Cue pilots on a plane Family members.

It's appalling. But I watched the entire film thinking it might approve!

I love Left Behind! It's so bad, it's good. DH and I must have watched it at least 10 times.

The acting in the Room is astonishingly bad.

Another shite film, Field of Dreams. "Build it they will come", knew of its premise, and when I finally got round to seeing it I've never been as disappointed in a film. Bored to tears.

Not the worst film, but overrated from my first viewing, The Princess Bride. Having heard so much about it and read its excellent reviews I expected a classic, instead I was like WTF? He (Rob Reiner) is a great director and I love his body of work, but that fell flat. Maybe I'd need to see it again and see If i went in with too high an expectation so would appreciate it more.

Watched an hour of Gladiator II and after much boredom and a deja vu feeling just felt this is a second rate version of the first one. Paused it and haven't yet got round to finishing it (maybe it finishes well?).

Field of Dreams is incredibly tedious.

Had a similar experience with Princess Bride. Sounded like something I would love, it was shot round where I grew up, I respected the opinion of friends who loved it, I love Mandy Patinkin, should have been a shoe in, but I was left a little cold. I wonder if it is a nostalgia thing for people. Maybe you need to see it at a certain point in your life. Having said that I watched it with DC when they were little and I don't think it cut it for them either. It was never a movie they came back to.

BadLad · 10/03/2025 00:15

Samurai Cop is the ultimate "so bad it's good film".

Abysmal dialogue, out of place reaction shots (the director called the actors back weeks after filming to have them refilm laughing at jokes and being surprised), worse acting than you can possibly believe, edited worse than a DVD playing the scenes at random, fluffed lines having made it into the final cut and to top it all off, the protagonist went and got his long hair cut thinking the film was finished. When he was called back for some extra filming, he had to wear a woman's wig for those parts.

It's brilliant.

BeyondMyWits · 10/03/2025 08:33

DH and DD22 watched some pile of poop last night, omg it was awful! Nicholas cage was a vampire, Nicholas Hoult and Awkwafina. Renfield I think it was called. It was bad. Truly awful. But I got the feeling it was meant to be? It would have to be deliberate to be that level of crappy.
