Should anyone want to watch the worst film ever made and/or deliberately waste an hour of their lives....

....then it has just started on Film 4.

Enemy Mine. About an astronaut and a male alien who collide in space and crash land on a planet. The male alien turns out to be pregnant and they co-exist on some hostile planet or other.

Really shite.

I raise you God's of Egypt where the CGI is shocking, there's a ninja, no storyline and the Gods change in size for no reason.

And Equals. It's on iplayer at the moment if you want to cry at the painful slowness of it.

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 01/03/2025 20:12

I see all your terrible films as raise you ... Sex Lives of The Potato Men!

Yeah, that’s a terrible, terrible film. Utter rubbish.

Dosomethingusefulnow · 01/03/2025 20:20

2001 A Space Odyssey is one of the finest films ever made!

EternalFogInMyNotSoSpoltlessMind · 01/03/2025 20:27

DH and I have this thing were we deliberately pick crap sounding films to watch for the laughs, here are a few of our absolute humdingers:

The Great Wall of China with Matt Damon - absolutely batshit.

The Dark Tower, terrible but so bad it's funny.

And last night The Devil's Conspiracy - a complete absence of plot, surprising Amazon prime gave it a 4 star rating. We picked out purely on the basis of the ludicrous description.

LaPalmaLlama · 01/03/2025 20:28

I've just given up halfway through The Heretic. I feel like I'm trapped in a drunk, circular argument in a student house. But darker. Also Hugh Grant will always be Charles in 4 weddings for me.

mjf981 · 01/03/2025 20:28

Downsizing.

Never ending ridiculousness. I'm a Matt Damon fan but this movie should never have happened. Hated it.

2001 A Space Odyssey is one of the finest films ever made!

It is a cult now, but I do share the slowness critique. All those monkeys bashing around for 20 minutes for 1% gain.

It like the rusty sign in the opening scene of Once Upon A Time In The West.

Only movie I ever walked out of was Pirate Radio. I'm not a huge Philip Seymour Hoffman fan but he generally can act and that thing was just DOA.

yodaforpresident · 01/03/2025 20:39

Currently watching Groundhog Day, which I can confirm is still great!

None of you have suffered the Moshi Monsters movie ….now that really was 90-120mind of dire cinema o won’t get back. Unfortunately it was DS’s 10th or 11th birthday and he wanted to see it. Like a good Mum ie cured it…he’s 22 now and I still remind him that he owes me many mugs of coffee for enduring such rubbish.

I saw this with my 8 year old. I kept falling asleep and she kept nudging me away

icebearforpresident · 01/03/2025 21:57

I just finished watching Volvano - a volcano erupts in the middle of LA. Starring Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche & a pre SATC Jon Corbet.

It was the best kind of shite.

RobertaFirmino · 01/03/2025 22:05

It's a tie between Jarhead and In Bruges for me. I had looked forward to both yet they were just so bloody dull and boring.

Waterlilysunset · 02/03/2025 02:49

Anyone else hate The Favourite??

DobDobby · 02/03/2025 04:36

Gravity looked promising on the trailor and I usually like Sandra Bullock but it was boring. Sandra's character was so whiney and annoying rather than rooting for her survival I hoped she'd be killed.

sashh · 02/03/2025 05:04

sunshinechaser · 01/03/2025 17:42

Rubber. The film is about a tyre that comes to life and uses psychokinetic powers to kill people.
Not joking-it's so awful!

That sounds so bad it would be awesome.

beguilingeyes · 02/03/2025 05:24

I just sat through The Banshees Of Inisherin (so?).
Dear God

Babylon. Three hours of my life in a cinema, wanted them back! And I watch anything!

Aftersun. Long lingering shots of Paul Mescal looking vaguely depressed for no apparent reason. I was so bored but held on as I thought surely something would happen. It didn’t.

mypingpongbat · 02/03/2025 05:32

That wasn’t a reply to the Babylon comment! Just incompetent posting

For sheer pretentious tedium that feels like it's never going to end, I offer Last Year at Marienbad. I saw this as a student when I was still at the earnest stage of thinking I had to try to like highbrow things and if I didn't enjoy them it must be my fault. By the time we came out of the Film Society screening of LYAM I'd thrown off that mentality. Low to middlebrow all the way for me since then!

Yes! I had to watch this for my French degree. What a load of self-indulgent, wanky drivel.

missdeamenor · 02/03/2025 06:49

The Greasy Strangler. A dirty old man goes around strangling young women.

CatsWhiskerz · 02/03/2025 06:53

Myfluffyblanket · 01/03/2025 18:13

The Langoliers, three and a half hours too long and really boring.
Emanuelle, a shocking attempt to make sexual exploitation of women acceptable and normal.
Don't get me started on anything 'James Bond'.

The book Langoliers is good, film not so much! SK stories are usually crappy films though except The Shining

CatsWhiskerz · 02/03/2025 06:56

Enjoying this thread, I'm going to offer some newer films whilst I finish the thread I'll hopefully remember some more:
Mother ... just weird
The Substabce - had promise but just got fucking insane at the end

QuartzIlikeit · 02/03/2025 07:17

Eyes wide shut. Actually left the cinema half way through.
