Obviously I do but just curious, if you're eligible e.g. watch live tv, do you?

I do watch live tv therefore I do need one

the poster was commenting on your post which seemed to imply “law abiding = having a fucking tv licence” when law abiding people manage to exist without one too.

Thanks for the thread. Im going to cancel my tv licence today. Money down the drain. I can still watch Netflix, Disney plus, prime, channel 4 on demand , ITVX on demand , you tube.
saving £156 a year

Er, don't some of those cost something?!

Yes.

To me it's worth it. I am a huge BBC radio listener

You can still listen to BBC radio if you don’t have a TV licence.

Yes but the basic Netflix and DP combined are less monthly than the TV licence! The other channels mentioned are all free. So you can still keep up with the news and read live posts on the internet/free news apps. The only thing is you can’t watch iplayer or stream anything live (even if it’s on a service you pay for). I cancelled it a few years ago and not missed it. If the Beeb have a show I really want to watch them I just wait until they sell it to Netflix or Amazon 🙂

Yes but it will be very silent of full of adverts if someone doesn't pay for the radio programmes to be made etc...

WhisperingTree · 01/03/2025 17:39

@Pancakeflipper i pay for Spotify. That’s enough music for me. The teen listens to it all day. No one is interested in radio.

The thread really should be called
Do you pay for a TV licence?

Do you pay your TV licence implies you need one which then if that's the law you should.
But if you are not breaking the law then you do not need to purchase one.
