Obviously I do but just curious, if you're eligible e.g. watch live tv, do you?

Yes I do. I watch and listen to quite a lot of BBC.

LastTwoBraincellsFightingFor3rdPlace · 28/02/2025 21:20

Nope. We only watch Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus (we use my friend’s account!)

MamaBanana12 · 28/02/2025 21:20

Nope. Don't have one. Havnt for a few years

User19876536484 · 28/02/2025 21:22

Yes. We actually watch quite a bit of BBC TV.

offmynut · 28/02/2025 21:23

Not had a licence in years because i dont own a tv not had one in years.

shieldmaiden7 · 28/02/2025 21:24

I didn't for years as I only ever used Netflix and YouTube. And gamed more than watched tv tbh. But when we bought our own place we got Sky and there for a tv licence.

DuckieDodgyHedgyPiggy · 28/02/2025 21:25

Yes. I really admire their reporters across the world, and programmes like the fantastic David Attenborough documentaries, and ones like University Challenge that would never be made by a commercial company. I am proud to support them. I listen to R4 every day too.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 28/02/2025 21:26

Yes. I do actually watch live TV a lot. DP probably watched a bit less, but we often watch BBC4 music shows together. We have BBC6 Music on in the kitchen from first thing through til bedtime too - even if we’re out we leave it on for the cat! (He’s an indie kit.)

GroovyChick87 · 28/02/2025 21:28

Yes, when I moved house I forgot to switch my TV licence from my old address to the new one and within a week I was getting letters saying that they were aware my address was not licenced. So they do definitely find out and chase it up if you don't pay.

Ferrazzuoli · 28/02/2025 21:29

Yes

Teenagerantruns · 28/02/2025 21:30

We do, l wouldn't, we don't watch live tv, or I player, but my DP wants to pay just in case🙄

AlmondLoaf · 28/02/2025 21:32

Nope we only watch YouTube (not live) disney plus and amazon prime/paramount.
Spend the rest of the time gaming or working so no need for a TV license. Smile

Luddite26 · 28/02/2025 21:32

I don't have a TV so no. I watch stuff at work on a weekend and the house I work in is covered by a TV licence and I watch cbeebies 6 mornings a week with dgc at their house not mine. I don't have iPlayer.

Teenagerantruns · 28/02/2025 21:32

You don't need it for radio, l do listen to bbc radio sometimes.

ADesignForLife · 28/02/2025 21:33

The TV licence also funds the BBC Weather, Sports and News apps and websites - as well as BBC TV and radio. Can’t stand people - like BIL - who wang on about how they hate paying the TV licence cos “they never watch Strictly” and yet are on the BBC Sport app checking the scores every two minutes.

EllaPepper · 28/02/2025 21:33

i don't have a TV licence, as it makes the Iplayer the most expensive streaming service at around £13 per month. you don't need a licence to listen to the radio or BBC sounds. i have netflix and amazon, along with Channel 4 and ITVX, which are both fine as it is not live TV. honestly don't see the point of the TV licence just for the BBC and live TV.

You may not need a licence to listen to BBC Sounds, but how do you think the content that goes on Sounds is funded…?

steelingmyself · 28/02/2025 21:38

I do - I watch quite a lot of BBC and we use CBeebies excessively!

I pay for it happily even though I rarely watch TV. When I do want to watch, iPlayer is my first port of call. I listen to a lot of BBC Radio and want to pay my way with that too as the existence of BBC Radio is really important to me.

DappledThings · 28/02/2025 21:43

Yes, very happily

spuddy4 · 28/02/2025 21:43

No. I don't watch anything on BBC and don't understand why people are happy to pay the likes of Lineker millions to talk about football.

Scutterbug · 28/02/2025 21:43

Yes. We only tend to watch live tv. Don’t have Netflix or Spotify. Have Amazon prime so could watch that but have never logged in on it!

tinytemper66 · 28/02/2025 21:44

Yes as I watch live TV and listen to the radio.

heavenstruck · 28/02/2025 21:44

No
