Is your house “visitor ready”?

CharliesAngles · 26/02/2025 14:29

Right now?

Much is made of this on MN, so if there was a surprise knock on your door now, would you be happy with the state of your home to allow your visitors in?

Right this second it is but a couple of hours ago no, definitely not.

Velvetbee · 26/02/2025 14:30

Don’t be ridiculous, I need at least 24 hours.

budgiegirl · 26/02/2025 14:31

Yes, but only just. I'd rather it was tidier, and the kitchen floor could do with a clean, but it's not too bad overall. As long as the visitor stayed downstairs!! Upstairs is definitely not visitor ready.

theboffinsarecoming · 26/02/2025 14:31

In short, no.

CharliesAngles · 26/02/2025 14:34

I work from home two days a week, and most things have its place so it’s a yes from me.
Weekends though, are definitely “take us as you find us”! 😁

jellyfishperiwinkle · 26/02/2025 14:37

Always, people can take us as they find us.

moose17 · 26/02/2025 14:38

Yes it always is

Mingenious · 26/02/2025 14:38

Is it fuck 🤣

They’d still be welcome though.

LadyEstrellaDellaheugh · 26/02/2025 14:39

I'm glad to say yes! The cushions and blankets in the livingroom could do with a tidy but that's fine! Come on in!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 26/02/2025 14:39

Ah!

The question here is Are the visitors ready for my house?

🐕🐕🐕🐕

LavenderBlue19 · 26/02/2025 14:40

Absolutely not. In fact thank you for the reminder, my MIL is coming over this evening and there are muddy cat footprints through the kitchen and living room. And two piles of laundry on the sofa. Sigh.

KittenPause · 26/02/2025 14:41

Yeah it's ok

VenusClapTrap · 26/02/2025 14:42

It’s fine. I mean, it doesn’t look like a show home, but my friends and family aren’t the type to require that.

HundredPercentUnsure · 26/02/2025 14:43

Yes.

We're not a show home.

We live here. Presumably that's why a guest would come though, because we live here?

There's books and cars all over the floor, lunch dishes stacked next to the sink, slow cooker on and we're crafting with stickers. Come on in.

SneakyLilNameChange · 26/02/2025 14:43

Yes always! I’d say our house is generally clean, lived in and comfortable so not a show home but generally tidy and presentable. I’d let anyone in without notice and not worry- if they’re bothered about some kids toys or a few dishes then that’s on them 🤣 I am generally very tidy though!

Upstartled · 26/02/2025 14:43

Yes. Pretty much. I mean, I'd be taking them through to the kitchen and the lounge, right? So long as they aren't wandering into bedrooms or the utility rooms, I'm good to go.

Talktomeeeee3 · 26/02/2025 14:43

Mine is until my daughter comes home from school.....

CleanShirt · 26/02/2025 14:43

Yes, but I live alone so don't have anyone else's mess to pick up.

ImagineRainbows · 26/02/2025 14:44

My house is visitor ready 1 day a week when I do my big clean, of course no one visits on that day and they prefer to come when it looks like an elephant stampede has just ran through it.

NancyJoan · 26/02/2025 14:45

Well, It's quite cluttered, and I need to load the dishwasher, but on the plus side I did wash all the floors yesterday, so it's cleanish. The loo is always clean. So: my friends would be fine, possibly not King Charles.

Differentstarts · 26/02/2025 14:59

Yes usually is now but it's something iv struggled with in the past. Iv found it a lot easier to keep on top of it since I got rid of loads of crap and made it minimalistic

FedUpandEatingChocolate · 26/02/2025 15:05

No way!

In fact, we've got an estate agent around for a viewing shortly which I'm dreading is the house is a mess. And I've spent Monday and this morning tidying.

We basically need a huge sort out and bin.

FrannyScraps · 26/02/2025 15:06

Depends who!

My mum - yes

OFSTED - no

PensionMention · 26/02/2025 15:07

Usually yes but currently remodelling the hallway and there is a rather large hole. If they can get over that house is all ok except my bedroom has clean washing all over bed waiting to be put away
