Morning mumsnet 💐 has you can tell im bored today.
As title says do you believe in any of it.
Afterlife.
Past lifes.
Next life.
I was raised to think that we live we die we are reborn in the next life.
What we do in this life will follow us to the next.
As an adult i dont believe this but its nice to think so.

Surely there's a creator who created all these.Something can't happen on its own.For example the house you live in was built by someone ?

Yeah, Taywood homes....probably by some blokes who were created by their parents.

If you want to go down this road, then who created god to then create all life?

It's all hogwash really.

A lot of people say things like Dad’s looking down on us , or Gran’s dancing in heaven, but our bodies die , so how can we think of having earthly bodies in heaven? Obviously it gives people comfort to think like this, but surely, if we do go on after death it would have to be in a different form, an awareness perhaps, not a physical body. I just cannot contemplate oblivion forever, and yet it can only be that we literally stop, like a light going off.

It's incredible the amount of disbelievers in this thread. I'm assuming if you don't believe in afterlife then you also don't believe in a god. Look how complex a human body is, the heart the brain, the way a human is created in the womb, nature, etc, you really think that came into existence from nothing?

Cars and houses don't just appear, they have to be made by man, so why would something with life not require a creator.

You really think a being capable of creating a universe and all living things came from nothing?

So who is God's God and why worship God and not the God that created God, without who, god and therefore everything would not exist?

But.

How could a being capable of creating a being capable of creating the universe come from nothing?

Who made God's God and why not worship them?

If not for them then the being that created God wouldn't exist and so God wouldn't exist and so we wouldn't exist.

So how did God's God's God come into existance?

But....

I've taken this from another online forum

"No, reincarnation does not mean there is a constant number of souls. Most of Hinduism boils down to there really only being one self (Brahman/Shiva) that emanates an infinite number of souls. It’s not that there’s X number of souls recycling through a finite number of bodies. Both souls and bodies are equally infinite.
Imagine Brahman is the fire and the souls are candles lit from that fire. The candles can pass their fire along to other candles, but they are all the same fire. You can light an infinite number of candles from one fire without the fire losing any"

Reincarnation doesn't happen straight away and we can reincarnate into other species.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 14:54

@BigBoysDontCry 1. Say (O Muhammad ()): "He is Allah, (the) One.
2. "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).
3. "He begets not, nor was He begotten;
4. "And there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him."
This is Surah Ikhlas from the Quran

In which case, I'm definitely coming back as a cat.

Me too, but as a house cat, it’s safer, eat, sleep, poo!

Yes coz you do t have anything else to say.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 16:27

Don't

Words · 08/02/2025 16:38

No, of course not.

I love a pp's description of electrical impulses through a lump of meat. Exactly.

The wonder is that those impulses can create magnificent works of art or literature ( or rather, could- I see precious little evidence of that today.)

None of that has anything to do with a divine creator or a post death fantasy land. It's almost laughable that belief in these pre medieval myths survives today in the face of all we now know about biology and science.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 17:01

@Words Although scientific facts are a part of the Quran, I think it should be noted that it is not the purpose of the Quran. Rather the Quran is meant to guide people to be good, pious, and submit to gods will.
Read the Quran without any bias and it will impact you.
If you want proof whether god is real or fake, that is a question that requires a lot of thought on your part. We can only provide our opinions. However, ask yourself, would you believe that a boat carved itself out of wood even though you logically, physically know that it is impossible. Similar concept but on a much grander scale lol.

SecondMrsTanqueray · 08/02/2025 17:04

No. I don’t believe in any of it. When you’re dead, you’re dead. You didn’t come before and you go nowhere after.

There is a view that our bodies are merely avatars, once they give up and die, the energy that is you can choose another avatar to inhabit, they don't have to be babies either.

Alternatively our energy could go on to form part of the universe and dissipate, or become alternatively aware in another form or corpereal sense.

There is no such thing as nothing

Words · 08/02/2025 17:10

Actually I did read the Quran many years ago and was horrified. Ditto portions of the Old Testament.

Ongoing, earnest belief in these ancient myths ( interesting in themselves anthropologically) seems to involve a total suspension of critical thinking, along with a bias towards slightly nonsensical thought experiments. I have seen it in the less sophisticated Christian denominations also.

But the discussion will go nowhere as belief will never concur with reason.

Yes coz you do t have anything else to say.

I have plenty to say, I've already contributed to the thread. I'm not however trying to take it over and and pushing my specific religious views.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 08/02/2025 17:22

I am very open minded about it. I know it shouldn't make any logical sense but I've heard too many very compelling stories over the years to dismiss the possibility completely. I won't nail my colours to the mast either way though.

Breathinglife · 08/02/2025 18:43

Yes I believe in the afterlife. Otherwise what was the purpose of this life?

Everything in the earth and skies was not created for nothing.

I believe in the day of judgement too when all wrongs will be righted and people will finally get justice.

We are accountable for what we do in our lives. No one gets away with anything. ultimately.

SleepyHippy3 · 08/02/2025 18:47

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 10:17

@SleepyHippy3 tell me who created your parents ? And who created the first human being on earth?

My grandparents created my parents.

Do you mean Homo sapiens, that is, modern human beings? Well we've been around 200-300 thousands, and our ancestors are previous types of apes, throughout the span of millions of years of evolution, prior.
And ultimately before that, we are all descended from primitive single celled organisms. It's billions of years of amazing evolution.

They evolved from other living creatures.
