Morning mumsnet 💐 has you can tell im bored today.
As title says do you believe in any of it.
Afterlife.
Past lifes.
Next life.
I was raised to think that we live we die we are reborn in the next life.
What we do in this life will follow us to the next.
As an adult i dont believe this but its nice to think so.

No, I don’t believe in any of it. How does it all work with population explosion as well? Numbers don’t add up. Or do lots of people all share someone’s past life? Or lots of people have the past lives of tiny babies who died at birth?
Plus I don’t have any sense of the rightness or necessity of any religions or any belief in any sort of immortal soul.

But, respectfully, why would your mother, of all those who have ever died, be the only one to have managed to figure out how to communicate via lightbulbs?

Where did I say she was the only one?

User0311 · 08/02/2025 10:58

Following. Always interested in people's opinions on this. I do believe in something after this life but I think it's partly wishful thinking. I hate the thought of nothingness and never seeing my babies and family again 🥹

I think it's funny when people are so adamant against there being something afterilife because it's quite literally impossible to know. The world and life is so complex that we can't understand it, I think humans know a very small percentage of what actually goes on around us

There is more evidence for there being an afterlife than there is evidence for there not being

There really isn’t, @pinksheetss. There is absolutely zero evidence for any form of afterlife. Consciousness, all evidence suggests, is a side-effect of our bodies. When our bodies die, so does that consciousness.

I don't know.
All I know is I love my daughter so much and I hope that love signature remains through time and space to hold her when I'm gone.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 11:56

@Chuchoter I didn't waffle on,These are the facts that many people deny.

You will have created the person she is through your love and emotional attunement — those won’t fade. She will be a person facing life in the knowledge that she was loved, even when you’re not there to tell her.

timetodecide2345 · 08/02/2025 12:06

I started to believe it after i resuscitated ( or helped to resuscitate) a man who had had a cardiac arrest and he told me a fact he shouldn't have known and could only have known if he had been in a totally different viewpoint.

Then I started to research it.

I won't try and convince people. There's no point in all honesty. Personally, it's now part of my belief system.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 12:08

@Chuchoter you don't see the oxygen that you breathe in,then why do you believe that oxygen exists?

Oxygen sensors? There are many ways of accurately measuring the proportions of different gases.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 12:19

You can see it by measuring in a repeatable way.

My dad has faced a lot of adversity, discrimination and judgement in his life and I'm glad he's not bitter and can see there is beauty in life.

He has hope in his own life on this earth coming to an end and I don't think that's a terrible thing.

Even facing his own death, he can show and feel compassion. Which is more than can be said for some.

Perhaps when you're weeks away from death, you'll feel differently.

I hope when your Dad's time comes it is peaceful and gentle.
I have sat where you are now, sending you a hug x

SophieGee · 08/02/2025 12:44

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 08:17

The Qur'an also asks its reader to question and to reason. Belief is not blind - belief must be confirmative.
Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?
(2:44)
1- For one thing: I find that the desire for eternal life is given to me - I did not create that desire. I long to be happy, healthy with my loved ones. The one who created the need within me must also necessarily created that which I need. Just as the need for sustenance looks to the sustenance itself and the giver of the sustenance, so does the need for eternl life.
2- Secondly, I undergo a sort of death every day. This takes the form of sleep where I "die" and I am resurrected in the morning again. In a similar vein, my being, my memories, my consciousness is created for me at every.single.moment. One moment of my being does NOT necessitate that I exist the next, yet here I am.
3- Thirdly, within the created world, I can also see a sort of resurrection happening every year, every season, every month. For example, trees blossom with life in the spring yet they decay in the fall and autumn, becoming bare like bones. In the following spring, they are brought back to life again.
4- Fourthly, I can experience a "heavenly," or a "hellish" state of being right now. If I do not view the world with God consciousness (meaning that I do not do my best to train myself to aim to be in a conscious state of being and establish a relationship with my Creator in knowing that I am being given existence to and that everything is consciously, mercifully created for me), then I find myself in a hellish state of being (meaning that I view things as being haphazard - I assign qualities to beings or things that are dependent themselves - I find myself hopeless). In a way, I EXPERIENCE what is to come in my experiences right here and right now. It's like an indicator or 'sample' before the full meal.
If my Creator is giving me guidance in the form of speech (i.e. scripture), I must utilize it with my human feelings along with the action of my Creator (i.e. the universe) to confirm it.

That is really interesting, thanks for sharing.

I am a humanist and I enjoy reading about others’ views.

By ‘researching’, do you mean googling random NDE stuff on the internet?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 09:23

@SleepyHippy3 how can a human being create another human being?

By having sex and gametes meet.
Same as how puppies and foals are made.

Evolution.

All creatures (including parasites) evolved to live alongside each other.

Fossils show the evolutionary processes- take a trip to Natural History Museum when next in London.

Same!
In my mind I have created a cozy afterlife where we are reunited with beloved people and animals we have loved.

If it is like before we were born, then that’s not so bad.. but the afterlife will be very crowded as surely If pets are allowed , what about all the wildlife and farm animals?

All the horses throughout history!?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 14:08

@oakleaffy from where did the gametes come ?🤔who created these ?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 14:09

Surely there's a creator who created all these.Something can't happen on its own.For example the house you live in was built by someone ?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 14:20

We mere mortals cannot fathom the essence of God and the extent of His greatness. But when we even glimpse the multidimensional vastness of His creation which points to His endless creative power possibilities appear endless. Evidently, the realm of afterlife and its dimensions can only belong to a domain that is very different from the physical world we live in.
