Morning mumsnet 💐 has you can tell im bored today.
As title says do you believe in any of it.
Afterlife.
Past lifes.
Next life.
I was raised to think that we live we die we are reborn in the next life.
What we do in this life will follow us to the next.
As an adult i dont believe this but its nice to think so.

We do believe fully because it's there in the Quran, the holy words of God.

The splitting of the moon is a miracle in the Muslim faith that is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Qamar 54:1–2. It is also attributed to the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

......

You can't possibly believe that the moon was split, though?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 08:01

Who created you ?

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 08:17

The Qur'an also asks its reader to question and to reason. Belief is not blind - belief must be confirmative.
Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?
(2:44)
1- For one thing: I find that the desire for eternal life is given to me - I did not create that desire. I long to be happy, healthy with my loved ones. The one who created the need within me must also necessarily created that which I need. Just as the need for sustenance looks to the sustenance itself and the giver of the sustenance, so does the need for eternl life.
2- Secondly, I undergo a sort of death every day. This takes the form of sleep where I "die" and I am resurrected in the morning again. In a similar vein, my being, my memories, my consciousness is created for me at every.single.moment. One moment of my being does NOT necessitate that I exist the next, yet here I am.
3- Thirdly, within the created world, I can also see a sort of resurrection happening every year, every season, every month. For example, trees blossom with life in the spring yet they decay in the fall and autumn, becoming bare like bones. In the following spring, they are brought back to life again.
4- Fourthly, I can experience a "heavenly," or a "hellish" state of being right now. If I do not view the world with God consciousness (meaning that I do not do my best to train myself to aim to be in a conscious state of being and establish a relationship with my Creator in knowing that I am being given existence to and that everything is consciously, mercifully created for me), then I find myself in a hellish state of being (meaning that I view things as being haphazard - I assign qualities to beings or things that are dependent themselves - I find myself hopeless). In a way, I EXPERIENCE what is to come in my experiences right here and right now. It's like an indicator or 'sample' before the full meal.
If my Creator is giving me guidance in the form of speech (i.e. scripture), I must utilize it with my human feelings along with the action of my Creator (i.e. the universe) to confirm it.

I'll tell you next week! I'm quietly a sceptical believer.

A medium who is a friend of a friend has requested to read for me next week - I've never met this person, we have no connection in real life, just the one mutual friend.

I'm curious to know what she wants to tell me.

She knew me by my name and she described me to my friend - I have some blatant characteristics which can't be confused with someone else of the same name.

I'll come back and let you know!

😲

Catsinaflat · 08/02/2025 08:27

@Icanflyhigh Looking forward to your update!

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 08:27

@Chuchoter

There’s no scientific proof that the moon split in the past as of today. But this does not mean that it didn’t happen! If it did happen then one day we might find out that it did happen!
Similar to the weight of an Atom. It was only until after 1900 that we proved that an atom has a measurable weight.
Now as far as the Quran put the split of the moon, Allah linked it as a sign to the near of the end (judgment day). Again this could mean past or future.
Now by looking at Hadeeth: it tells us that it happened. Along with the Quran then it has happened.
There are many ways to look at it. If you want to look at the fact from a scientific way then we can say: science didn’t prove YET but most probably will later or not. Doesn’t really mean it didn’t happen.
There’s another way to look at it that the moon didn’t split physically but it’s light did through eclipse & light deflection which is still a miracle as knowledge that it will happen on a specific time after asking the Prophet to do it and then it happened.
The fact that we cannot see oxygen doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
The more we live, the more we learn and prove that our Quran & our Prophet is 100% correct.
But we believe and we don’t need scientific proof. They need. Let them study and research. They will eventually find it. I wonder how their faces will look like!

I used to be open to past lives, but it seems the vast majority of people who claim to know about them are all Cleopatra, Joan of Arc or Napoleon or similar. You very rarely hear people say they recall they were a shitkicker peasant named Ned who died of a tooth infection aged 17, or similar. Instead we seem to have a thousand Cleopatra’s, so …..

Actually that’s not true.
Having gone down that rabbit hole the vast majority of people who’ve been regressed report very mundane normal lives.

Occasionally someone famous will crop up but most have had dull forgettable lives.

WeGotCows · 08/02/2025 08:37

I believe, but only since I’ve had certain experiences.

I know several very logical scientist/dr type people who had their own experiences and now believe.

The experiences that so many thousands of people have had match up despite having very different life experiences, living in different cultures, different faiths, and I find that intriguing.

I don’t believe in religion - all religions seem to have taken the bones of spirituality and fleshed it out to control the masses and keep women in their place.

I don’t believe there’s a hell. We’re all here to learn, we all play a part in others stories. Hell was made up to scare people. Frightened people are easier to control.

It's incredible the amount of disbelievers in this thread. I'm assuming if you don't believe in afterlife then you also don't believe in a god. Look how complex a human body is, the heart the brain, the way a human is created in the womb, nature, etc, you really think that came into existence from nothing?

Cars and houses don't just appear, they have to be made by man, so why would something with life not require a creator.

It all came about through literally billions of years of evolution, scientifically proven so. That can’t be attributed to some god that was created by man made religions, just a few thousand years ago. There is no proof of any kind of gods existence.

This is confusing. What do you mean?

Newfoundzestforlife · 08/02/2025 09:46

VegLedge · 07/02/2025 12:02

I don’t think I believe in past lives because nobody (most) can remember them, so I can’t see a purpose or reason for that to be a thing.

I think the afterlife exists though. I have seen ghosts. I think some people are more sensitive to seeing them than others (sixth sense?). I think most spirits go elsewhere ( but not in a heaven/hell sense), and I think some get stuck here for whatever reason which is why only a few are seen.

How can you say you think the afterlife exists and you have seen ghosts? Surely if that was the case you'd know it exists?

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 08/02/2025 09:48

Nope, our "souls" are just a series of electrical impulses bouncing around a piece of of meat.

Software can't run without the hardware to run it on, so once the meat stops working, that's all folks.

What experiences are you referring to?

There’s no way I’m sharing them here! 😂

I’m usually happy to share, I’ve spoken to believers and sceptics alike, but MN is the Wild West when it comes to anything spiritual, I’m not doing that to myself.

Minnie59 · 08/02/2025 10:17

@SleepyHippy3 tell me who created your parents ? And who created the first human being on earth?

DairyLeanne · 08/02/2025 10:22

I think whatever happens after life is beyond what our capacity can comprehend.

@SleepyHippy3 how can a human being create another human being?

Well ...

When a man has a very special cuddle with a woman, is usually how.

ToothHurtyAppointment · 08/02/2025 10:41

I didn’t believe in anything, other than it’d be nothingness after someone passes away.

Then my mum died in 2019 and something happened…several times, and continues to happen to this day, which has also been witnessed by others, so for me, I’m now a believer that something happens after death. The people who’ve witnessed this too also are bewildered believers too. No idea what happens. Whether it be a transfer of energy that can be controlled by the person who passed or something else, who knows. But I know my mum is sometimes with me.

So the thing… and this will be outing, but who cares… when mum first passed, I missed her death as I lived the other side of the world to where she died. I was beside myself and crying in my walk in wardrobe while putting clothes away. I looked up at the light and asked mum to give a sign if she is there. It flickered. So I was talking to a lightbulb for a couple of hours asking it to flicker once for yes and twice for no. I thought I was going insane and even told my DH that I think I’m going to need to be locked up because I thought I was talking to mum when it was more likely bad wiring or geckos or something.

Anyway, I showed him as an example and the light started flickering again. It’d never done it previously and only did it for questions I ask. At this stage I still didn’t believe.

But for the past almost 6 years now, and in front of many different people, many different lights, many different locations etc, I get the same result of the flickering lights. If I’m scared, lights will flicker. If I ask a light a question, it’ll always flicker once for yes and twice for no. Even right now. If something bad is happening (such as when I was giving birth and an emergency arose) the lights flickered above my hospital bed. It’s not just a quick flicker, it’s a full on light show. And if I ask a question, it’s a clear one flicker for yes and two clear flickers for no. It’s as though someone is turning the switch on and off.

Midwives, doctors, my children, my friends, my old colleagues and bosses have all seen this. I recently had a tooth removed (hence username) and while in the dentist chair the light kept flickering, which annoyed the dentist. I gave up trying hard not to believe it was something and now I just have faith that it is mum looking out for me like she promised she would.

I don’t think it’s a ghost, though maybe it is, but I believe it’s more of an energy that she is somehow able to channel. And that energy interferes with the lights and we found out by accident?

Anyway, it’s changed my mindset from ignorantly claiming there is nothing after you die, I now am open minded and aware that there is so much we do not know and aren’t supposed to know.

It looks even more crazy written down!

But, respectfully, why would your mother, of all those who have ever died, be the only one to have managed to figure out how to communicate via lightbulbs?

pinksheetss · 08/02/2025 10:51

I think it's funny when people are so adamant against there being something afterilife because it's quite literally impossible to know. The world and life is so complex that we can't understand it, I think humans know a very small percentage of what actually goes on around us

There is more evidence for there being an afterlife than there is evidence for there not being

Chuchoter · 08/02/2025 10:51

@Minnie59 you didn't need to waffle on with that word salad! Just a simple statement that you believe it and don't care if no one else does would have sufficed.
