Anyone discovered an affair after an accident?

I recently watched a TV programme about a woman who found out her husband was having an affair after he'd been involved in a serious accident which also involved his affair partner. She thought he was away on business.

Has this happened to anyone in real life?

How shocking it must be and you must have so many questions in your head!

Not an accident, I know someone whose husband was supposed to be away on a camping and walking holiday in Scotland.

Turns out he’s actually abroad with some woman.
He was due home the day after the volcanic eruptions in Iceland grounded all flights.

Not an affair,I read of one the guy was with a dominatrix and took a heart attack. The woman gave him CPR till ambulance came and I think she phoned to inform the wife.

Are you sure you're not remembering a particular episode of ER?!

This happened to my friend. Her fiance died in a motorcycle accident and there was a full police investigation. She got his belongings back months later and when she turned his phone on she found he'd been on tinder and had been meeting girls for sex while on the road (he was a HGV driver).

She found her feelings really complex because she wasn't able to take her anger out on him (though she considered flushing his ashes!). She decided not to tell any of his friends or family but said she might in the future if they kick up a stink when she eventually moves on romantically.

Not a physical accident, but my friend is an estate agent at an independent agency. The husband and wife are co-partners of the agency, wife only worked part time though.

One afternoon, my friend had a phone call from the male partner saying he'd gone to do a viewing and got himself locked in a property (vacant possession, bad state, door probably swollen from damp) could she close up shop, pop over and pull the front door from the outside while he pushed from the inside.

Friend was about to head over when the wife walks in. Friend explains the call she's just had, and the wife says "no bother, I was only popping in to see if husband wanted to go out for lunch. I'll go to the property and help him out myself."

When she turned up at the vacant property and he saw it was his wife through the window, he apparently went white as a sheet. When the door was finally opened, he had to explain why he had a woman in there with him. If he was a bit smoother, he probably could've blagged and said he was showing her the property, but both their reactions were so 😱-like that they gave themselves away immediately.

Anyway, she forgave him 🤷‍♀️

Got "stuck" in her? How though? Was her vagina the Crystal Maze?

😂

@ifelttheearth what were you watching?

There was a film with Harrison Ford years ago with that premise.

Random Hearts.

THE most boring movie I've ever watched and one of only two movies that's made me walk out of the cinema midway through.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 03/02/2025 09:53

There was a man who died in the Zeebrugge ferry disaster who had a family on each side I think.

MsVi · 03/02/2025 09:56

Someone I know had a heart attack having sex with another woman in a car. You couldn't make it up. He died. His wife had no idea and was coping with finding out he was having an affair along with losing a husband and the father to her young kids.

Hadalifeonce · 03/02/2025 09:57

Not an accident, but I had a friend turn up to an antenatal appointment with his pregnant girlfriend, another friend was at the same hospital, she recognised him, but he didn't recognise her.
When she said to me she didn't know Paul's wife was pregnant, and I responded with 'she's not', it all started to unravel for him.

I used to work in marketing for a holiday company back in the days when we produced glossy holiday brochures and sent them out to our mailing list.

Imagine finding out your husband was having an affair whilst leafing through next year's brochure seeing him in the background of resort photos entwined with his lover. He rang us up, he was very angry. His wife had seen them.

As an aside (and nothing to do with affairs, thankfully), my daughter was checking out wedding venues online and came upon a picture of a lovely place - and there, front and centre was her brother, toasting the newly married couple! Fortunately he was there with HIS wife-to-be (and we're all local and very rural communities so not quite as much of a coincidence as it could be), but it gave her a bit of a turn!

A family friend (woman) was having an affair and once while having sex with the other man, he got stuck in her and nothing they tried helped him get out. They had no choice but to call an ambulance. Her husband worked as an ambulance driver... He wasn’t the one who came to get them, but it was a colleague, in a small town.

I think someone was pulling your leg mate

A colleague from years back had a relative who died while having sex with his mistress in a hotel. He was supposed to be in a different part of the country on business and his wife and mistress came face to face at the hospital. Wife didn't have a clue he was cheating and at the time I remember thinking how utterly horrific it was to lose your husband and find that out at the same time. He got off lightly if you ask me 🤷🏻‍♀️

XelaM · 03/02/2025 10:01

It happened to our friends. Very long and what everyone thought was the perfect marriage (always acted super loved up in public). One morning the husband came hime holding the hand of a 5-year-old child. He said "I'm so sorry but this is my child- his mother just died this morning in a car accident."

I remember watching something once where there was a car accident and a woman had bitten off the man’s penis mid-blow job in the crash. I can’t remember if it was the woman with the unattached penis left in her mouth or the now penisless man who was married, but what a way to find out. (Luckily it was fiction, of course.)

I think this was The World According to Garp by John Irving. fabulous book and a great film starring Robin Williams.

You were right to! It irritated the living shit out of me that Harrison Ford (despite assaulting a fellow police officer when he got stressed after discovering his wife had died in a plane crash because she was accompanying her affair partner, Kristin Scott Thomas’s husband) gets a promotion at the end, while blameless Kristin Scott Thomas loses her bid for re-election to Congress because of the media publicity, and that’s only a minor issue. It’s more important Harrison Ford wants to date her.

(I also never believe KST is American for one second.)

Um, if you don't read at least the first post of a thread, usually kind of difficult to know what it is about! 😂

But you can pretty much tell what a thread is about by its title, no need to read it if the topic is so distasteful to you 🙄

PeppyTealDuck · 03/02/2025 10:06

It can happen due to a muscle spasm in the vagina.

I know the whole thing sounds bonkers.

I always remember it in Greys anatomy- the man was with a younger woman and had a heart attack with one of them handcuffed to the bed or something and they had to bring them in I always remember the wife coming in and saying‘I suppose you think this is funny’ and her acting was AMAZING, I was actually gutted for her

THIS is the one I was thinking of!

@stayathomer it was actually ER, I remember it too. The wife was petite with dark hair and the other woman was a much younger blond wearing (some) black PVC type outfit as was the husband I think.

I remember a post on here. It was awful. The OP's partner suffered a medical episode and passed away. She then found out from his phone he was having an affair. They also didn't have a will set up, so everything he had (I think this included the life insurance policy) went to their shared child, but she couldn't access it to pay off the house or the costs associated with raising their child.

I think about her time to time and really do hope she managed to have that overturned.

When you say their shared child, do you mean the man and his affair partner's child inherited everything? If yes, that's truly awful ☹️.

My aunt was a nurse in A&E. Her husband showed up with a broken nose with his mistress by his side. Apparently the mistress’ husband had found out!

oh no. That must have been so humiliating for her in front of her colleagues. I hope his nose dropped off and rolled down a drain

CeceliaImrie · 03/02/2025 10:22

Not sure if it's true but I recall a story from 9/11 where the wife rang her husband who was supposedly at work in one of the towers to check he was ok, he had no idea what was happening as was otherwise engaged elsewhere.

AsFunAsEnglishWeather · 03/02/2025 10:28

Reminds me of the story a few years ago of the man who took his children for a walk in the pushchair - only he was actually meeting the woman he was having a affair with (and using the kids as an excuse). They were so busy snogging on the seafront that they didn't notice the pushchair rolling into the sea. One of the children drowned. I always think of the poor mother geting that horrific double whammy of awful news... not sure I'd be able to get over it. She stayed with him though, apparently.
