Anyone discovered an affair after an accident?

ifelttheearth · 02/02/2025 23:42

I recently watched a TV programme about a woman who found out her husband was having an affair after he'd been involved in a serious accident which also involved his affair partner. She thought he was away on business.

Has this happened to anyone in real life?

How shocking it must be and you must have so many questions in your head!

Not everything you read is true.

No, but I bet versions of this are not only true but not that unusual.

I remember the poster and the husband that died on a hobby ( this one wasn't cycling but much more identifying so I won't post what) it was awful, it felt like a troll because the story was so bad, but I had happened to be on holiday where it happened and the newspaper reports all tied up. I can't imagine being so angry and sad at the same time.

My aunt was a nurse in A&E. Her husband showed up with a broken nose with his mistress by his side. Apparently the mistress’ husband had found out!

Why would he go to that a and e knowing his wife was at work there (presumably seeing his mistress as his wife was away at work)

Just clicked that op didn't give an example.

She said that she recently watched a TV programme. That’s why she started the thread.

if you still think she’s a troll/journo/liar or whatever, then report her - but I’d say comments alluding to this are against talk guidelines.

I heard a story from a guy at work.
One of his pals was out for a walk with her daughter who was about 5 & they walked past a block of flats.
Wee one goes Oh that's where aunty Tricia lives.
Mum said you don't have an aunty tricia ?.
Yes I do and she lives in there.
Took her mum right to the door of her dad's girlfriend.
Dad had been telling mum he was taking wee one to the park when he'd actually been taking her to his affair partners for some afternoon delight.

I knew someone (as a work client) who was being investigated by his employer for fraud. He attempted suicide, fortunately unsuccessfully and was then sectioned. His wife had to go through his paperwork and laptop searching for the material to help us see if we could defend the fraud allegations and discovered that he not only had a mistress but had been planning to leave her. Poor woman was absolutely devastated and had a breakdown herself.

The Pilots Wife. Decent read.

I don't necessarily think the OP is a journo or a troll (although interesting that she has either joined/name-changed for this thread) but asking people to share stories of someone else's heartbreak for no good reason seems unpleasantly voyueristic.

I remember a post on here. It was awful. The OP's partner suffered a medical episode and passed away. She then found out from his phone he was having an affair. They also didn't have a will set up, so everything he had (I think this included the life insurance policy) went to their shared child, but she couldn't access it to pay off the house or the costs associated with raising their child.

I think about her time to time and really do hope she managed to have that overturned.

I’m sure someone will know of that post and link it. Sometimes it’s nice to know if the OPS has their life sorted in the end.

Not an accident but a prank. Back in the 90s when the national lottery had just started family member of my BF decided to record the lottery one week then get her DH a lottery ticket with those numbers for his birthday. Bit of a mean prank but it massively backfired.

She put the recording on instead of the actual lottery show when people were over at their house for his birthday. He jumped up, said he won the lottery, told them all to F off as he was having an affair and running away with her!!

I know someone who went away to Paris for a weekend with their bit on the side, to her utter horror her brother-in-law was on the same flight

shallwethree · 03/02/2025 09:15

It happened to me, many many years ago. I lived with my boyfriend but was already plotting my exit - he was awful but thankfully out most of the time. One night the police knocked at around 2am to say he'd been in a serious car accident. He walked away relatively unharmed but the girl he was with ended up in hospital for several months.

A friend of mine found out her DH was having an affair with his own cousin after he had a bad car accident.

OolongTeaDrinker · 03/02/2025 09:16

I have a friend whose fiance who I'll call Brad was killed while working abroad and she found out afterwards that he had been staying in a hotel with another woman before he left the UK but had told my friend he was visiting a childhood friend that weekend. This was a couple decades ago now, but as I remember the childhood friend got in touch after Brad died and said it was such a shame that he and Brad hadn't seen each other in years. My friend then did some digging to find out where he really was that weekend, managed to guess his hotmail password and found out that he had been cheating on her and seeing the other woman when he said he was elsewhere on multiple occasions. Very sad, and made her grieving very complicated, but I am happy to say she moved on and married a lovely man and has a beautiful family.

sixtyandfabulousofcourse · 03/02/2025 09:17

I have heard of people admitted to hospital and the wife and mistress turning up same time. confusion over who was wife or not
I should think these days with phones it must be hard to keep a double life secret

GretchenWienersHair · 03/02/2025 09:17

I remember watching something once where there was a car accident and a woman had bitten off the man’s penis mid-blow job in the crash. I can’t remember if it was the woman with the unattached penis left in her mouth or the now penisless man who was married, but what a way to find out. (Luckily it was fiction, of course.)

Um, if you don't read at least the first post of a thread, usually kind of difficult to know what it is about! 😂

ARichtGoodDram · 03/02/2025 09:23

Many years ago there was a Scottish footballer who died from carbon monoxide poisoning. His secret girlfriend died with him. His wife was heavily pregnant at the time.

InterestedDad37 · 03/02/2025 09:28

Yes, it happened to a friend of mine, some years ago now. They were married with 2 kids... She went away "on a work trip", but was in a serious road accident with the guy she was having an affair with, and ended up in a bad way, and in hospital at the other end of the country. She recovered, but that was the end of the marriage. Very sad all round tbh, I knew them both well, and they made a great couple.

Thank you for pointing that out.

A family friend (woman) was having an affair and once while having sex with the other man, he got stuck in her and nothing they tried helped him get out. They had no choice but to call an ambulance. Her husband worked as an ambulance driver... He wasn’t the one who came to get them, but it was a colleague, in a small town.

Unless he was a werewolf I can’t see how this is even possible.

Got "stuck" in her? How though? Was her vagina the Crystal Maze?

Got “stuck in her”? How is that physically possible? Is her vagina a suction cup?
