Anyone discovered an affair after an accident?

ifelttheearth · 02/02/2025 23:42

I recently watched a TV programme about a woman who found out her husband was having an affair after he'd been involved in a serious accident which also involved his affair partner. She thought he was away on business.

Has this happened to anyone in real life?

How shocking it must be and you must have so many questions in your head!

Yes I've heard of it happening in accidents due to AP being with them or visiting them in hospital after

Off topic but 'elderly' in her early 60s?

Havent you heard? On MN 60s is elderly except when it comes to the state pension. Then they are too young and the age needs to keep being raised.

But it doesn't make sense - as a demographic women on MN (and for that matter women in general) are having children later in life. Therefore when they are in their 60's they quite possibly will have children at university I doubt they will see themselves as elderly then

Yes. Apparently she’s ‘elderly’ in her early 60s, while her bigamous paramour is ‘dapper’ in his 60s. And yes, when I’m 60 I will have an undergraduate-aged child, and not be contemplating my own demise.

she was elderly when she/we found out - well into her late 70's, met him in her 60's, dated for a few years, married for 10+ yrs. Thought she knew him well, as did we. We didn't know, of course, about his mysterious "assignments" that meant he was away from home for extended periods of time - there was always an explanation, visiting his family, golf, etc.

lol - I'm in my early 70's - but I would definitely call her "elderly" when she found out - in her late 70's - that her dh of 10+ yrs was a bigamist. And yes, he absolutely was dapper, blazer and cravat wearing type - he totally swept her off her feet when he met her.

Perhaps I phrased it badly - but I thought it was clear that she WAS elderly (late 70's) when she found out - after a 10+ yr marriage and years of dating before that. They met in their 60's.

I hate the elderly thing. It's such nonsense these days. I'll have a 17 yo when I turn 60.

read my original post <sigh> I had my DC post 35, so old enough to be their GM!

The relative was elderly when she discovered her husband's double life, i.e late 70's . When all this happened I was "only" in my 30's, so yes, late 70's was definitely an "elderly relative"!

Having said that - the nearer I get to late 70's the more "elderly" begins to apply to those who are late 80's 😉

@thiswilloutme I wasn't actually criticising your post and yes I did read it all. I mentioned it because it's often said across these boards. That was all. Wasn't aimed at you.

Yes. I found out after my husband and the other were on his motorcycle in a not so traveled area... A deer ran out and they crashed. Laud out there for hours, and another 45 minutes he would have been dead... And she ended up passing away. That happened July of 2024... Am i the only one this crap happens to? I am still having a hard time... And when I say hard time, i am still devastated.

Wasn´t this what happened to Ted Kennedy? He had a car accident with his affair partner and the car fell into the sea/lake (can´t recall which). He omitted to mention her so the affair wouldn´t be discovered. She was trapped in the car, but didn´t drown, she died of asfixia in the air pocket left in the car around 3 or 4 hours later. Not only the hight of callousness also criminal.

The girls name was Mary Jo Kopechne and she died on Chappaquiddick Island.

Yes and of course he got away with it being a Kenndy 😣 But at least it ended his presidential dreams.

Just like the Skakel brothers got away with murdering Martha Moxley because they were related to Ethel Kennedy.

So sorry to hear this. How awful for you. Of course you are in pain. It's like a double tragedy.
Are you still in contact with him or are you separated?
Hugs to you. Hope you have had some counselling. Take care of yourself.
