Trump's Theory about the Plane Crash

Just watched his press conference in absolute disbelief. He's just blamed the air traffic controllers as apparently under the Biden administration they recruited people into the role who weren't intellectually capable. He actually blames diversity criteria and basically box ticking.... 'hiring people with severe intellectual and psychiatric disabilities' - that's a direct quote.

As someone with ASD, anxiety and depression who works in a high level, highly skilled role, I am angry on behalf of anyone like me.

The man is a dangerous liar.

I would like to think that no British Prime Minister or even Senior Politician (no matter what party they are from) would say something like this just after such a disaster happens.

I am not sure Farage wouldn't. But maybe not.

MeTooOverHere · 30/01/2025 22:44

"I was a helicopter pilot in the Army for 20 years,” he said. “In the '90s, I used to fly in and out of the Pentagon regularly, and I can tell you if you are flying on the route over the Potomac and wearing night vision goggles, it's going to be very hard to see that plane. If you're not wearing the goggles, then you might have a chance.”

I will wager Trump won't attack the military though - he wants to keep in sweet with them.

@Ger1atricMillennial

How about the Commander in Chief of the USA has the capacity to understand diplomacy and leadership in times of tragedy and act accordingly.

This is an X thread covering some of the questions in the questionnaire and it has a link to the court documents which include the questionnaire and the points for each answer so you can see the documents in question for yourself.

I still think it's unlikely that any of this caused the crash, but I also think this is the kind of thing that makes everyone hate DEI. I have no issue with characteristics being used as a tiebreaker in rare cases where 2 candidates are equally qualified.

I actually think that's a fair comment.

DEI is really important and has a vital role to play but I can completely understand why candidates who were extremely well-qualified but screened out feel upset.

From the little bit of reading I've done on the subject, it seems that the issue is that talented individuals who have loads of potential aren't coming through via the usual routes because of socio-economic factors, unconscious bias etc.

So while this biographical test might have been too heavy-handed, there's a genuine question to be asked about how underrepresented groups get seen and taken seriously.

It's even more fundamental than that too - how do you encourage these groups to see themselves as potential candidates and put themselves forward?

It's why DEI is important, but if it's not handled sensitively and appropriately, it's guaranteed to cause division when the intention is the opposite.

He knows.

His statement was nothing to do with the tragedy, the victims or the facts. It was solely about Trump's agenda. His followers will believe whatever he tells them to. He knows this.

I agree. I know he knows. He will crush anyone that opposes him. He is a dictator.

He'd probably find a way to blame it on immigrants.

LastTrainsEast · 30/01/2025 22:05

Are you though?

There are Executive orders protecting children which you must have heard about. Others protecting the rights of women and girls to privacy and safety.

Protecting women's sports too.

He said he would do this but then shocked everyone by keeping his promises. That's so unlike politicians these days.

Shame he didn't think about the rights and safety of women when he was abusing them, grabbing them by the p....

As for womens rights he has stripped them of other rights and safety. Whether you are pro choice or not womens lives in America are in jeopardy due to the fiasco of potentially losing a baby and doctors unable to intervene for fear of legal repercussions.

Project 2025 is removing the rights of workers, no unions, no overtime, no workers rights, where is his executive order protecting them?

Project 2025 is spearheading the removal of the education department and wiping out black history, which is tantamount to the Germans denying the existence of the holocaust.

I happen to agree on no chemical or surgical changes to children but beyond that I struggle to see how anything he has done is benefitting the country or the world.

As I said in my post, it is clear he is just using the horrendous tragedy to justify his political aims, and did we expect anything different?

My point is that he is using a legitmate concern that alot of people have, and have been talking about for a while. This is why he "appears" heroic because he is "standing up to the left who are controlling the narritive"

The reason we have Trump this time is because of the extreme leftist ideals, that are based in ideology not reality. It was easy pickings for him in the election.

Can you point to an ‘extreme leftist’ who has had any power in the US at any point?

LanzaPort · 30/01/2025 22:54

@Ger1atricMillennil
If Trump based his reaction today on a TV show I wouldn't be surprised.

His assertion that, without any evidence at this early stage, plus previous assertions that DEI are an issue I'd say I'd not feel safe flying into the US.

Hi.

As stated several times now. People asked where he got it from. I stated this is where he got it from.

It was all over the media for about a week about a year ago. I never watch Fox news, and they weren't the source for what I saw at the time.

I'm not sure how many more times I can explain what happened, at the time.

I actually says it in the article you linked.BIG, BIG logo.

placemats · 30/01/2025 22:56

@Ger1atricMillennial

A Commander in Chief keeps their powder dry and doesn't use a national tragedy for a gung ho personal agenda.

It demonstrates a lack of capacity and highlights the danger of populist politics that Trump so loves.

The reason we have Trump is why DEI is so important. America would rather have a mediocre (and I'm being kind) white man over a woman of colour.

Jesus, I’m really sorry for the poor guy that he lost someone in this awful tragedy, but seriously…
”He told the outlet he suspects the pilots onboard the Army helicopter on Wednesday had worn night vision goggles which prevented them from seeing the incoming plane”
You don’t rely on seeing other planes for Christ’s sake. If so there’d be crashes left, right and centre every day of the year.

Blinky21 · 30/01/2025 23:00

Funny he blamed the Obama and Biden administrations, wonder what he did inbetween. But disgusting of him to use a tragedy to spin lies to further his warped agenda

FrankieStein403 · 30/01/2025 23:00

Walkaround · 30/01/2025 22:14

And if it turns out the fault lies with the helicopter pilots who apparently can’t spot a plane they are flying directly towards, despite being warned about it, will he be as vitriolic towards the US military? Or would he decide pissing his armed forces off might be politically inexpedient?

No!
At night over a city it is virtually impossible to distinguish an aircraft on collision course from city lights because it does not appear to be moving - that's what collision course means.
Its why relying on visual separation over heavily built up areas is a really bad idea.

Its likely they'd misidentified the aircraft (earlier/later departure/landing) and were looking at a different craft whilst maintaining a collision course with the civil aircraft.

Most likely cause is the procedures in use at the two airfields.

How crass and distasteful. They haven’t even recovered all the bodies.

And the cause of the crash presumably hasn’t been fully investigated.

The airline industry must be livid. If people believe this is the cause of the crash, they’ll presumably lose confidence in flying. Who wants to get on a plane when the President’s telling you air traffic control have incompetent staff?

Great for the environment, I guess.

We had a child's voice changer and it worked I'm sure like TV when people get disguised there are far more sophisticated vd... If your company is small with small budgets yes, get a child's one and pop up a sheet.

Yes. It highlights how fucking stupid a policy it was in the first place.

We need to be removing diversity and inclusivity criteria from all job roles. The best person for the job should get it - regardless of sex, race etc.

If you’re not the best, get better. Don’t blame your sex, race, disability etc. If you are given a job simply because you fit a diversity criteria then you don’t deserve it.

You’re literally showing you have no idea how d&i policies or practice's work. They’re not the ‘fucking stupid’ thing around here.
