For me, it has to be thongs, bodies that fasten with those tiny poppers underneath, and false eyelashes.

Oh the b!tch bun. The higher and tighter the bun, the bigger the b!tch someone is. Plus they have an attitude problem.

Don't they call that style the Liverpool face lift?

TheAverageJoanne · 01/02/2025 00:18

PrincessHoneysuckle · 31/01/2025 16:18

You move it to one side so don't have to undo the poppers

And risk wizzling all over it ...

NovemberMorn · 01/02/2025 15:06

The kind of black chunky shoes that people used to need when they wore callipers in the olden days.
Now they are seen as a fashion item worn with floaty frocks.

lip fillers, false eyelashes, large brows m, cold shoulder tops, horseshoe jeans, uggs.
most of these I am sure are not current fashion. I don’t really know what fashionable is but these are things I don’t like.

It's a Croydon facelift down South

I guess you might

I never have in my 58 years. But you might

"Slip on" shoes: more like fall-off shoes. I have never managed to walk in any form of them without scouring skin off my feet.

Platform shoes: they look heavy and clunky to walk in.

Bodies: I still remember the wedgies from 1994

Thongs: see above

Mid-calf sports socks: I have calf muscles. They can't even pull up that far, and I have to fold supposed "ankle socks" over.
Trainer socks: they inevitably peel off and creep down the foot mid-walk.
I'd happily see a return of the slouch sock though

Midi length floral dresses: calf muscles. The infant school teacher c1987 look does not suit me.

Chunky, bold glasses. They don't suit me and I need something smaller and more subtle.

Scrunch bum leggings: I have plenty of glutes already. They don't need to be in high definition.

Scrunch bum leggings are about the only one that I really hate rather than just disliking for myself.

Bignanna · 07/02/2025 17:05

Fake lashes make the wearer look like Miss Piggy!

scalt · 07/02/2025 17:19

Flip flops! I've never understood why they're so popular in summer. I can't walk more than a few paces in them before my feet ache, as I have to "claw" to keep them on. Sandals with heel strap are fine, though.

And as for chunky, bold glasses: I don't like them either, I prefer thin frames; but people in adverts wear them all the time. They were once characterised as the NHS glasses which children dreaded.

I’m the same with flip flops. The bar between big toe and second toe gives me blisters. I’m sure it’s going to cause problems with feet later,

Thick chunky frames. They don’t suit everyone. It makes describing people difficult as their features are hidden by these NHS style frames. Which people got bullied for as a kid. These are the things. Esp clear

Hair plaits.
Anyone over 11 years of age, just say no.

Not wearing a bra when you really should, (think Charlie Dimmock)
Wearing incredibly low cut tops as you age (think Susan Sarandon)

Well that went from bashing "trends" to just bashing women.

Agree about the barrel legs but I only wear wide leg and they look great. I think the taller you are the better they look. Hate with a passion skinny jeans and leggings

I'm short and fat and I love my wide leg jeans. They are so comfy and swishy. I don't want to go back to skinny jeans. My calves look ginormous in skinny jeans .... Im not going back there.

I hate the trend of tops tucked into jeans at the front. But maybe that's because of the size of my stomach!

I must admit I've been pulling socks over leggings for at least 25 years! Ever since slouch socks were in 😂 I don't follow trends at all.

Sometimes this (french tuck) can make your stomach look flatter and provide shape to an outfit. I do a wee french tuck and if I didn't I'd look like a sack of spuds.

It’s about how greasy my hair is for me!

The pulled high white sports socks thing reminds me of Michael Jackson.

Anything that if worn by a 40 something, overweight woman looks like Les Dawson even if it might look stylish on someone younger and skinnier (see post on S&B about what looks like Damart housecoats).

Saphire123 · 08/02/2025 00:48

@ Badsil,
Giving examples is hardly 'bashing'.
Those women are in the public eye, and Ms Dimmock does/did go braless for years, and there are countless photos of Susan Sarandon with her breasts exposed.

Saphire123 · 08/02/2025 01:25

Minis skirts, they seem to be right back in fashion.
Unfortunately, my mini wearing days are over.

Mid 50s and my tits are still pert and look fab, thanks to exercise and tight pectoral muscles. I hate any suggestion that older ladies should or shouldn’t do something. Some clothing items are more about figure and health than age.

I’ve recently got back into minis, I’m very short and they suit me. It’s been like hanging out with a really good old friend I haven’t seen for years.

😁
They seem to be everywhere again, worn differently this time round, but yes, they still look great.

Good for you.
My opinion is generally (there are always exceptions) women's ageing bodies look better wearing a bra and without breasts falling out of skimpy frocks.
Each to their own of course.

What other opinions do you have on women's aging bodies? I'll take notes.

Think style and class, and you may come up with your own ideas.🤔

These aren't trends though. There is no trend or fashion for women over 60 not wearing bras or wearing low cut tops. It doesn't exist. So doesn't belong in this thread. If you want to be misogynistic and ageist then own.

I don't think misogyny is particularly classy or stylish - it's obviously subjective.
