For me, it has to be thongs, bodies that fasten with those tiny poppers underneath, and false eyelashes.

Skin-tight, skin-colour clothing.
Cropped jackets. (They completely unbalance me)
Injectables/tattooing on make-up/eyebrows. (I see a lot of badly/obviously done ones - while I know there are many well done ones too, I'd be too paranoid about looking obvious myself)

Seagullonahottinroof · 30/01/2025 22:52

I hate the trend of tops tucked into jeans at the front. But maybe that's because of the size of my stomach!

I must admit I've been pulling socks over leggings for at least 25 years! Ever since slouch socks were in 😂 I don't follow trends at all.

This is a Potato Top.

Makes your shoulders look like potatoes instead of shoulders.

Such a weird idea.

Like when having a hole in your sock is called having a potato in it.

I don't get these which seemed to be trend in Next this winter. Did anyone buy them?

They remind me of those red boots that were a thing online a few years ago. Massive things made out of the same rubber that Sindy shoes were made from.

Violetparis · 30/01/2025 23:10

Skinny jeans
Big colourful glasses
High heels

QueenCamilla · 30/01/2025 23:21

Knee high boots
Ballet flats
Massive colourful trainers
Any shoes/boots with virtually no heel and no sole
Semi-transparent polyester blouses with awful prints usually
Naff slogans on every bloody T-shirt and hoodie and jumper!
99.9% of all the vests in the universe
Pull on, stretchy-waist trousers with fake button at the front as the only "tailoring detail".
Ribbed and as a result cheap looking everything.

SchrodingersTwat2 · 30/01/2025 23:27

Anything that damages me! I've never worn high heels. No cosmetic surgery or tinkering like that. No tattoos or piercings. I've never had the opportunity to wear a corset but that would also be a no.

Make up. Never worn any.

ScruffMuffin · 30/01/2025 23:32

I've never been fashionable and never will be, but hate all of the following and refuse to wear them:
Leggings
Jogging bottoms
Ripped jeans
Uggs
High heels
Fake anything
Most eyebrow 'enhancements'

I also can't stand a particular overly-groomed look, in which the wearer has extremely orange skin and long, too-straight white hair. I have a young relative who favours this look, and I think she looked much better au naturel. However, lots of people seem to do it, and my 16 year old daughter thinks it looks amazing, so what do I know?

Saphire123 · 31/01/2025 01:01

Bell bottom trousers.
Square toed shoes.
Crop tops that expose spare tyres.
Trout pot gobs.
Dyed jet black hair, especially on an older person.
Obvious dark roots on blonde hair...once frowned on, now a big fashion.
Dirndl skirts.

coxesorangepippin · 31/01/2025 01:26

For me personally, batwing sleeves

They make me look like Hulk

UnctuousUnicorns · 31/01/2025 01:53

Bootcut trousers aka flares - should have stayed in the 70s where they belong.
Wide leg trousers (erstwhile known as palazzo pants) - look shit on everyone except Katherine Hepburn.
Jumpsuits - I've no wish to look like a children's television presenter, thanks.
Not so much a trend, but I can't wear long sleeved dresses or t-shirts. I run hot and need to be able to take a layer off, so short sleeves covered by a sweater or cardigan it is.
I need a stick to walk with so heels are obviously out of the question.
I refuse to contemplate any top or dress that I can't wear with a normal, standardly strapped bra. No faffing with backless, halter neck or strapless styles, I just can't be arsed with them.

I'm sure there's more, but that'll do for now.

Babyenroute · 31/01/2025 02:39

Cold shoulder tops

NattyTurtle59 · 31/01/2025 02:39

Skinny jeans, never worn them, never will.

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/01/2025 03:06

Anything that is apparently "retro" 90's.

It was ugly then and its ugly now....block heels, parachute pants, everything that the spice girls or all saints wore, straightened hair, bronzer.

Dry robes, only acceptable if popping on after a swim.

As opposed to wet robes? What are these, towelling dressing gowns?

Those weird high neck, balloon sleeves dresses always getting recommended in Style and Beauty.

The Vampire's Wife.

Natsku · 31/01/2025 04:31

Harder to think of ones I do follow (I do shave my armpits and epilate my legs, so those ones). Fake nails would be extremely impractical in my line of work plus I imagine you must be accidentally scratching yourself or your children with those. My eyebrows remain the same they always have, I ain't messing with them. I wear clothes that are comfortable, always.

In the winter though, I do wear my woolly socks pulled over my trousers (not leggings, I don't like the feel of clothes that are skin tight) because that is warm and I don't care how it looks. I guess it is a trend though, among the grandmothers of my country Grin I'm happy to follow their sensible trend

Sliders. They are just hideous. Even before people started pairing them with pulled up sports socks.

Lanawashington · 31/01/2025 08:27

forthistimeonly · 30/01/2025 22:39

Why be so nasty about what someone chooses to wear? They're not hurting you. Walk on by.
There's lots of trends I wouldn't buy into but I wouldn't slag someone else off for having different taste to me.

Exactly this. I was hoping this would be a light hearted thread to read, but instead it's become the usual insults against women who aren't slim or rich, or who dare to wear something different or have tattoos

These are everywhere but unless you are built like Kate Middleton they look very matronly. With DD’s I can’t do a high neck it looks ridiculous.

Mischance · 30/01/2025 14:26

High heels - so bad for your feet and your spine. Can't imagine why anyone might wear them.

Apparently they are in their way back
In

GrumblingRose · 31/01/2025 09:41

Dressing from head to toe in black like youngsters do . They look like clones . They need colour in their lives .

terrifyingtoes · 31/01/2025 09:43

I suppose it’s inevitable that these threads bring out the snobby & judgemental side to people!

sammylady37 · 31/01/2025 09:54

Skinny jeans
leggings
leopard/animal print
tattoos
stretched lobe piercings
lip fillers
microbladed brows
stiletto heels
