Tattle Life rebrand

Yelen · 21/01/2025 12:22

Crap forum Tattle Life has changed overnight into 8Cafe.

8Cafe

Hate Cafe

Geddit?!

Nothing says 'I have nothing to hide' quite like changing the whole name and domain of your website.

The man who hides behind this pathetic hate forum (who Olivia Attwood met in real life and described as ugly...exactly what you think a troll would look like) needs to be put in prison for what he has done.

His website has caused at least one suicide that I know of. If he is so proud of it, he should be out there in public giving interviews about it.

Some clever, funny people on Tattle. The threads I saw were not malicious.

BobbyBiscuits · 23/01/2025 01:10

I don't mind Tattle. I can say things about famous people that would probably seem crass and unnecessary here. 🤣
I'm sure a lot of us are on both? Though I think they are very different spaces.
I think alleging it's driven people to suicide is a bit OTT. I mean, loads of people are absolutely vile, directly to people all over the internet.
In fact a lot of people have followers who are only there to slag them off. I don't do stuff like that, but why shouldn't we be able to anonymously say what we think about people who are selling themselves online as a product?

Becca19962014 · 23/01/2025 01:13

I wonder if some “influencers” who campaigned for its closure will actually regret it because that was the only way people found them due to threads being highly ranked on Google or watched them… careful of what you wish for and all that!

lol all the threads are malicious.

Definitely something odd going on. I got a formal warning, as I complained about issues I had with the “rebrand” just before closure announced. I found lovely community over there (nothing to do with influencers) and will miss them very much.

I very much doubt the whole death threat simply because their information has been public since it was opened more or less when I joined. Their rebrand caused chaos over there.

Same. I don’t go on the influencers threads. I’m wondering if it’s been hacked.

I haven’t posted on Tattle for almost a year but still lurk occasionally. Logged in this morning and it immediately took me to 8 Cafe and had a notification from a mod to a post “explaining” what was happening. Something about certain threads being locked to allow more people to sign up. I deleted my account there and then as something felt off.

I agree that influencers are grifters and should be held to account (the off topic section is also fine) but anyone who claims that this is the primary focus of Tattle users is being disingenuous. Some of these people spend their life tracking every move on influencers or celebrities they hate. There’s been utterly vile things said about children because their mother or father happens to be someone they don’t like. Some of the most hateful insults I’ve ever seen and even wishing death on people.

Some will claim that any posts like the above are reported and deleted but they’re not. Most threads like this are a hive mind where posters feed off each other’s venom to the point where just everyone loses the absolute run of themselves. It could be a space for holding grabby grifters to account but the unhinged lunacy that’s allowed to go unchecked undermines any of that for me.

"I'm an Internet troll but I'm an M&S Internet troll compared to the rest of the Internet trolls."
Seriously, get a grip.

They mean shutting it down to new members. It's still running.

lol I wasn’t trying to say I didn’t read there, more pointing out that it had been updated very recently as I was on it earlier today and didn’t see the announcement

That's an interesting interpretation of "Unfortunately, recent threats directed at members of one of our families have left us with no choice but to shut down the site."

I’m pretty good friends with an Instagram influencer who has a thread about her on Tattle. I can honestly say the stuff they say about her is ludicrous! All she has to do is post a photo of herself and from that people write things like how fat she is (she’s far from it), how she favours one child over the other, she neglects one of her children, she has a nanny/ cleaner/ housekeeper and sits around doing nothing all day long. I spend a lot of time with her and she is the polar opposite of everything they say and has no help whatsoever with her kids/ in the house. So for all those saying Tattle posters say a lot of ‘accurate’ stuff, a lot of it is total BS. The lengths some of the posters go to to find something mean to say is absolutely astonishing. I find it so weird that people can find it in themselves to say such awful things about someone they’ve never met based largely on photos. For that reason, IMO Tattle is a god awful site and anyone who posts such unkind things about strangers is utterly deranged.

I really don’t care that influencers are grifters - a lot of people are. They’re just modern day sales people, no?! They’re just making a living - good enough for them. If you don’t like them, stop consuming their content. It’s really not hard.

N3MESIS · 23/01/2025 03:50

I must admit I was giggling at everyone trying to flood over to comment cafe. A low grade lolcow forum where they all doxx people and there's hardly any rules because it's ran by one admin who's never around. They can't handle the delusive Angie thread. They definitely can't handle 1000s of tattlers.

EverybodyLovesString · 23/01/2025 04:27

The Meghan and Harry thread there is a toxic echo chamber where they will believe literally any conspiracy theory, no matter how deranged. They're currently sharing their real emails and names so they can find each other again. These are not the brightest sparks, doxxing themselves in a panic over a forum closing.

Influencer culture and regular should be open for scrutiny but the threads on Tattle are mostly an excuse for pure misogyny. It's so, so weird.

Nottodaythankyou123 · 23/01/2025 04:31

I never really bought into the gossip threads on there, a lot of them seemed a bit much, but the advice threads were really supportive, especially pregnancy and new baby. There was no snark on those, just people supporting one another.

ChristmasPudd1990 · 23/01/2025 06:16

I'm sad it's gone. It was always respectful on the threads I visited 😔

Fridayfridaycatsandblamange · 23/01/2025 06:44

i never read any of the influencer ones but I thought the Mumsnet one was hilarious.

Rosesgrowonyou · 23/01/2025 06:52

Oh dear has it gone?

MichaelAndEagle · 23/01/2025 06:53

Gonna miss the mumsnet one.

It's still there to read but posting facility is down.

I only post on the M&S food thread but I'll miss it!

purpleandpurple · 23/01/2025 07:05

I enjoyed the off topic threads. I will miss Tattle 🙁

You don’t exactly sound like a world class wit yourself, tbf.

Mishimal · 23/01/2025 07:15

I don’t know this from Tattle fyi but I had heard about a suicide locally where I live and I did come across a thread or 2 of them on tattle (via google) about the person so it did tally up. I looked around Tattle as it was fascinating but I’m not a member and not been back to look since.

As far as I know, a relatively small influencer did commit suicide. I believe it was in part related to people gossiping and digging for info. A second larger influencer was connected to the person and they had more fans and it was quite messy. Like many of these things I think it was a lot more complicated than that but and I don’t feel comfortable saying who it was to start more speculation about them as they are no longer here.

My take from it is that people do like to be right about things and as a large group, allegations and speculation can grow very fast into a big forgone conclusion without any actual evidence. I think the thing the influencers and celebs don’t like is all the speculating about their lives which cannot be proven either way, it’s all theories and suspicions and some of them go too far. One general example is the Tom Cruise is gay rumour. Just because people might think it, doesn’t mean it is true and you can get all kinds of unsavoury people willing to come forward but at the end of the day, so what if TC is gay it’s not a crime. Nor is having a grey house.

Members are probably nice to each other there as they need each other for digging for info and piecing together their detective work. If you are just focusing on exposing a grift of someone exposing a scam that could be seen as a good deed but that’s NOT whats going on the majority of the time though is it on most of the threads. I see Tattle membership has become like a MLM cult with the rehearsed script - ‘we are exposing scams’ maybe 2-3 big threads are focused on real scams, the rest is just bitchy gossip. I watch some of the big YouTubers who call out scams and they don’t get personal about looks or peoples interior design they just expose scams.

zen1 · 23/01/2025 07:50

I will miss the gender discussion and the injustices against women threads. There were some lovely women on there.

Aitchtee · 23/01/2025 07:53

I think it’s back to normal?

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 23/01/2025 07:58

If I was an influencer and didn't like the speculation about my life I would simply stop sharing my life online.

It's a choice, not some kind of divine call.

There's plenty of jobs out there that don't include sharing snippets of your personal life with thousands of strangers, and even worse - exploiting your children too.
