MOTHER IN LAWS!

Not sure that’s a snobbish thing though, people from all classes can have MILs and snobby / non snobby people have them is equal measures I would say

LOLL Absolutely spot on.

Its like my late DDad but it was Actors in his case.
He did not like, for example, Frank Finlay's sinister character in Bouquet of Barbed Wire, so he did not watch anything after that with Frank in it .... until The Pianist came out that is.

I got a new one for Christmas - lovely soft leather, really well made and much cheaper than the equivalent Fossil bag that I also considered.

I like Radley. Radley and Russell Group universities are 2 of the few genuine examples given.

Most of the others are just things some people like, which others don't.

For some of the things (holidays in UAE, Shein) there's very good reason for not liking them.

LBFseBrom · 19/01/2025 00:54

I had noted any snobbery around those issues. Maybe you have very strong views on them which is making you defensive about some remarks - that is often a type of snobbery.

People are entitled to have different opinions but, seriously, are any of those things worth getting worked up about? Live and let live, what other people do is up to them.

People that work from home

Anyone upset that they didn't receive a card from their young children and the dad forgot (you're not his mum gets me every time).

People that don't drive

People with more than 2 children

People in a relationship with children who are not married

Anyone who "lets" their male partner be friends with another woman

Which makes the vast majority of women total snobs then 😂

What they should really be like is:

"Oh your meeting Harriet tonight for a catch-up & a few drinks. Have a lovely time. I'll do the shopping, see to the children & have dinner myself this evening & don't worry if your late, I'll wait up 😂

The UAE funds the RSF which is responsible for genocide in Sudan so I don’t think it’s a massively bad thing to disapprove of people who are happy to holiday there.

What is wrong with a Whippet who lives with a cat?

Whippets and Cats live together well, as long as the Whippet knows the cat is in charge, all is well.

My friend has three Whippets, a cat and a large Bunny. The Bunny rules the garden, and the Cat rules the house. The three Whippets are very respectful of the cat and bunny.

OMG my dream, I'd love a cat again but my whippet would deffo 'get it'. We're the other animals there before the whippets?

This thread is reminding me why I'm so glad I moved to America years ago. There is none of this snobbishness and class obsession. I tried to explain how bad it is in England and used the example of fitted carpets being deemed common. They didn't believe me. (It also helps that I live in a very blue state where Trump's name is mud and guns aren't allowed. I might feel differently if I lived in deep red country.)

But what's wrong with Bayliss and Harding? I think their stuff is pretty nice, and a much more intelligent buy than Molton Brown!

Dyeing your hair to hide the grey. Posters claim they've never looked younger or better since they started sporting a snow white bob.

OMG my dream, I'd love a cat again but my whippet would deffo 'get it'. We're the other animals there before the whippets?

@TurtleJellyFence I could ask...I do know several Whippet owners with cats, and they actually curl up together!
It looks so gorgeous seeing them intertwined, but one of these owners said their Whippets can chase strange cats out of their garden...so it seems as if they get used to ''their'' cat and can be sillier with cats they don't know.

I took my Whippet to my brothers house, he has two Burmese, and they advanced in a pincer movement towards my Whippet so I picked her up as didn't want her scratched..Brother's Cats live with a dog and are very bossy with the dog
The cats were there first, and the dog was swiped into submission by the cats.

One friend says her family had a Burmese cat with Whippets who was Queen of the household.

Burmese and Bengals and a big fat fluffy Ginger cat are the cats I know who live happily with Whippets.

However, if your Whippet has a strong prey drive, it might be tricky and unfair on a cat to bring one in to the house, as your Whippet will be quite territorial.

A fox kit entered our house a couple of summers ago- The Whippet chased the Fox out - thankfully both were unharmed. {they were about the same size but the fox had a larger set of teeth} Whippet wasn't wearing a collar so I couldn't grab her - she spotted the fox before I did.

Probably because it’s a knock off Molton Brown.
