I always find this fascinating.

AI holidays
Period features
SUVs
Buying new baby clothes/decorating a nursery.

What else?

Holidays aren't only AI or SC.

What is an AI and a SC holiday??

Bottle Feeding.
Feeding your baby jars or pouches of ready made baby food instead of making your own.

I'd love someone to point me in the direction of snobbery around bottle feeding. All I ever see are posters being crucified for suggesting that breastfeeding might be a better option. Or even hinting that it went well for them.

Disclaimer: I'm expressing no personal opinion one way or the other on this. Feed your baby. The end.

Children’s names that aren’t Elizabeth or William or something as equally old and boring😆😆

What is an AI and a SC holiday??

I thought ''Artificial intelligence'' at first, but it has to mean ''all inclusive'' and 'self catering?'

All Inclusive or Self Catered

let’s throw French Bulldog breeding on that pile😁

En-suites

For the first time in my life, I literally spat my tea out laughing at that!

I think she is right though, people can be very snobby about packet ham, full of preservatives etc etc

BiancasSilverCoat · 19/01/2025 00:10

I prefer my ham in a jar.

MillionaireCaramel · 19/01/2025 00:11

Glad I'm not the only one who wondered where i could book an artificial intelligence holiday!

The big one for me is alcohol. If you have more than a tiny sherry at christmas you're an alcoholic who needs to quit forever. The flip side of that, of course, is that there is lots of support on here for people who do want or need to quit.

Home education. I remember reading a thread (I read considerably more than I post) where a poster was shot down for even suggesting home educating her children.

Fair enough, but it's doubtful that the majority want kids at 50.

Some at 50 have still got kids at primary school.
Some are 45 with 5 year olds.

ChallahPlaiter · 19/01/2025 00:13

Adamante · 18/01/2025 22:30

Goodness, where to start! 😁

Lots of presents for your children at Christmas.
Holidays in the UAE
Cruises
Spending too much on a handbag

The UAE funds the RSF which is responsible for genocide in Sudan so I don’t think it’s a massively bad thing to disapprove of people who are happy to holiday there.

AmiablePedant · 19/01/2025 00:17

Everything's relative. One person's snobbishness is another person's good taste. And god knows there's an awful lot of inverted snobbishness on Mumsnet (especially about people who don't want to carry out every single life function on their phone!).

An awful lot of people who are 50 have kids in primary school, it’s quite common these days

I did laugh at this one but actually it’s probably true

Taking issue with people who use cheap Chinese websites that use slave labour is not an issue of snobbery. It’s an issue of moral conscience.

MN loves a bargain though. Especially if the women/children that are raped and used are thousands of miles away, too far to care about.

StScholastica · 19/01/2025 00:27

Grammar and pronunciation.

Posture, I found this hard to believe when I stumbled across a thread on how not standing perfectly straight makes one appear common. So that's everyone with scoliosis judged 😥

Emojis

Fake lawns (admittedly not great for the environment).

NHS staff who dare to not tolerate abuse, or who are overweight, or who give patients advice (you know like how they are paid to do).

Names like Rocco or Cruz that are completely respected names in other countries.

Greyish2025 · 18/01/2025 23:51

They are very early 2000’s though😊, I remember getting my mum one as a gift back then

I LOVE a Radley handbag and still use one every day.

MaloryJones · 19/01/2025 00:33

Might have been mentioned but long thread for my tired eyes

Council/Social Housing Tenants
Vapes/Cigarettes
The way some just HATE London and Londoners
As above but they hate the whole South East
Haters of the North of England
Holidays
A Wife who enjoys "Wifework" being vilified by some on here

BarbaraHoward · 19/01/2025 00:35

Any regional terms or accents that aren't used where that particular poster grew up.

Extra points for things that are American or perceived to be American.

Cultural norms that differ from their own (children at funerals, Halloween, shoes on/off, lots around hospitality, names, you name it).

Different = wrong very often, or at least lower class (which is just a specific type of wrong).

I LOVE a Radley handbag and still use one every day.

I got a new one for Christmas - lovely soft leather, really well made and much cheaper than the equivalent Fossil bag that I also considered.

A lot of others do as-well, I think they are a bit marmite,
