What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

I asked my husband this just last night. Personally I will never touch a malted milk but the absolute worst is a lemon puff. Disgusting.

Rich tea

Maybe only available in Scotland but Abernethy biscuits are soul destroyingly boring.

I quite like a Garibaldi for a car snack or picnic as they are sturdy enough to pop in my handbag.

Two Abernethys sandwiched together with butter. Blissful.

Love a rich tea, best biscuits for dunking. Can't stand hobnobs, and the only decent digestive has Stilton on top

JohnTheRevelator · 19/01/2025 19:42

Fig rolls. Or Ginger Nuts. But then I hate figs and ginger.

Covidwoes · 19/01/2025 19:44

Malted milk. So. Boring.

NasiDagang · 19/01/2025 19:45

Bourbon cream biscuits, it's so bland!

Crojo · 19/01/2025 19:46

Rich Tea are nice if you've been unwell and need something really plain and not too sweet.
My vote is for any of the bland, dry, cheap tasting offerings in a tub of Family Circle or similar.

SiobhanSharpe · 19/01/2025 19:48

Rich tea. My poor late DM, in a care home with dementia, would sometimes be given a Rich Tea with her afternoon cuppa. She couldn't speak much but the disappointment was writ large on her face.

Ohcrumbs25 · 19/01/2025 19:54

Anything gluten free will put you off for life 😂 try a gluten free jaffa it will suck all the moisture out of your face. 3 years into my diagnosis I still haven’t found a decent biscuit.

ThistleTits · 19/01/2025 19:55

@WellsAndThistles oh I love an Abernethy with butter and cheddar. Home Bargains sell them outside Scotland.

FenixWinda · 19/01/2025 19:56

Empire biscuits - why celebrate slavery & oppression with every dunk 😳

Thefsm · 19/01/2025 19:58

Those danish biscuits in the tins that everyone seems to have at Christmas. Like shitty flavorless shortbread.

JustMeAndTheFish · 19/01/2025 20:09

Let’s just face it; if I need a biscuit I need a biscuit and I’m not at all fussy.

Adkim · 19/01/2025 20:15

What a pointless question?

Rich Tea.

Rich tea. Not worth the calories

Ooh I quite like the flavour of a rich tea. I feel like it satisfies something. I also don’t mind a garibaldi. I don’t get much out of Nice though. Feels empty and light.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/01/2025 20:20

Something gluten free. They manage to be both sickeningly sweet and hopelessly bland whilst tasting largely of disappointment.

I don't particularly like normal biscuits (although your Garibaldi is much nicer than your Peek Freans Trotsky Assortment), but GF ones are a whole world worse.

Pippyls67 · 19/01/2025 20:27

In the U S they have something called a gram cracker which is pretty shit apparently.

noblegiraffe · 19/01/2025 20:28

What is arrowroot?

A Rich Tea, it's so meh.

AcadeMama · 19/01/2025 20:29

Fig rolls are the worst. Texture of cake then fruity in the middle. Urgh.

Fiddledeedeefiddle · 19/01/2025 20:31

Chocolate Rich Tea - it’s beyond yuck
